The description is not quite clear about the expectations and reproduction steps, now AFAICS we now do have an integration test that checks that we get the error in the inline form in EditIT#saveActionValidatesWhenXValidateIsPresent so IMO it shows that the validation drive the user to the edit mode in case of error.
