This looks very much like an expected behavior to me. Maybe when this was reported, the page title was used here instead of the reference so it was confusing. This filtering feature works here the same as it works on every string column AFAIK.
Closing the issue as `Won't Fix`, feel free to reopen if it's still an issue for users or if my understanding of the issue description was off.
