In version 1.8.5, I first backported this fix to the 1.8 branch but as we found that the fix is too complex for the 1.8 maintenance branch, the 1.8.6 release now contains a much simpler fix of simply enabling the cache which is safe as the content only depends on the language and the status, both of which are already in the URL.
