Hello
I want to write a java script macro which is able to load jars from an external currently not supported source (e.g. from a maven repository). Therefore I want to exchange the used class loader. Overriding the ScriptMacroParameters#getJars() method is not possible for me, because I only want to load the classes in view and not in edit mode.
My question: How is it possible to exchange the currently injected implementation of the interface org.xwiki.rendering.internal.macro.script.AttachmentClassLoaderFactory
for my macro to exchange the used class loader or is there another recommended official way to ream my aim.
Thank you very much for your help.
Yours faithfully

Hi all.
I'm using xwiki for some months and it was going very well. But today I've
got the following problem:
When I try to access any page, it loads and then it turns into a gray
background right after the loading. I can, however, access the code by the
browser.
The last thing I did before this happen was change the layout of an app via
App Within Minutes. I have not changed a single line in the source code.
I have also tried to access with another browser and restarted the server,
with no success. I think it's a problem with Javascript and how it displays
the page, but I don't know very well Javascript to check where is the error.
I'm using Tomcat 7 and Mysql 5.6. The Xwiki's version is 5.3, I think, but
I can't check it for sure because I cant see it =P.
Here's a print screen: http://imgur.com/PgL5uak

Hello,
I'm new new new to xwiki, but I think it's pretty cool so far. I've been
killing myself trying to work out where to add javascriptextension on an
"app within minute" page. I want the javascript to create some handlers on
page load, hide some buttons, form validation etc.. for the life of me I
can't really figure out the best place to put my code. Right now I've got
some javascript working by putting an html tag with a <script> tag on
the class sheet, but somehow it doesn't feel like the right way to do it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki 6.1.
A lot of work has been done for the new Flamingo skin and we hope to
make it the default in 6.2.
This version also comes with many improvements but also introduce many
new APIs and tools for developers like the integration of LESS
preprocessor, a new authorization API taking care of the context and
its associated script service, a new experimental Mail API, the
support of grouped and asynchronous jobs in default job module
executor, the possibility to log from any script, a new converter to
make easier to manipulate XDOM in Velocity, and many others.
The memory used in wikis with lots of documents like
http://myxwiki.org has also been reduced a lot (around 40% in
http://myxwiki.org for example). Finally a new loading screen with
progress displayed during XWiki initialization has been introduced and
the initialization speed itself has also been improved.
You can download it here: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download
Make sure to review the release notes:
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWiki61
Thanks
-The XWiki dev team
Is there a typo in the version number of the deb package list for the
latest 6.1 release? The version is listed as 6.1~rc+1 instead of
6.1+rc+1, a consequence of which it's lower than the milestone dev
releases. (I had to do a 'downgrade' to get it to install)
Hey all,
I'm using an SSO authenticator to login to Xwiki. The Xwiki has a logout button that doesn't appear to do anything (for SSO) once pressed . Is there a way to disable this button?
Thanks,
Chris.
Hello,
I try to use the autocompletion application (http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/AutoCompletion+Applica…) without success.
Are they a shortcut to provide methods and all other things?
I edit in xwiki mode, add my 2 velocity tags, typing $xwiki. and tab ... without result.

Pascal B on Xwiki 6.0
Hello,
After migrating the database content of XWiki 4.0 into a new XWiki 6.0.1 engine, the GA tracking JSX is no longer loaded in the XWiki pages :-(
I checked :
. http://bimguides.vtreem.com/bin/admin/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?section=analyt… reports "Google Analytics™ is running" with the proper GA ID
. on http://bimguides.vtreem.com/bin/edit/XWiki/GoogleAnalyticsCode?editor=object the following attributes are set:
Use this extension « Always on this wiki »
Parse content: yes
caching: long (also tried default)
Still, the Google Analytics debugger extension reports that the GA JS code is not fetched by the XWiki page (and indeed, there is no GA script in the page html source).
Does anyone know if the JSX mechanics has changed between 4.0 and 6.0.1 ? (I may have overwritten working code with outdated code when I used my 4.0 mysqldump result with the fresh 6.0.1 WAR ?)
Thanks for your help!

@djphatic:
Did you actually find a solution to your problem or did you end up creating
your own copy and renaming script?
@Eugen:
You mean to create a own script or what exactly? Because i can't find
anything at the moment that would fit as a solution, but having a script
written like this one
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Copy+Space+Snippet to
do so.
* does not work with subwikis
The best way IMHO would be a space template that actually does the job of
being a space template and not a simple page template. Having it this way
there is not much sense in having it since one simply could creates a page
template.
It would be much appreciated if someone would have a solution or way to do
this.
cheers,

Hi devs,
Yesterday I’ve asked my wife to try out XWiki...
Exercise 1
==========
I gave her the simple task of creating a wiki page with some content to organize a party with a list of people to invite.
Here’s some feedback from this session, in the order she discovered them:
* She started reading the Welcome block (good!) but was puzzled by the terminology of ‘“spaces”. Especially since the English wording said “sorted by spaces”.
—> Improvement: Rephrased with “organized by spaces” + had a one line sentence explaining what a space is.
* Then she saw the Spaces list below and started clicking on the existing spaces.
** First Blog, she understood what it was about and decided that was not where she would put her new page.
** Then she clicked on Main and after 2 seconds of puzzlement (it didn’t do anything since she was already on the main space) the understood that it was where she was already
—> Improvement: Highlight the current space differently in the Spaces list to make it clear on what space the user is currently on
** Then she clicked on Sandbox and understood it was a page to try out stuff after reading the content. She clicked on”Sandbox Test Page 1” and found the edit button and started typing some text and saving the page. It worked fine but she understood that this wan’t her missing since I had asked her to create a new page…
* She navigated back to the home page by clicking on the Home menu entry at the top. Actually I was surprised that she used those menus to navigate very quickly and it did not seem to be an issue.
* Then she tried sending a message (don’t ask me why, this wasn’t part of her mission but she wanted to try it out, Strangely she picked the “group” item in the visibility box and then started typing my name. It did print “Group not found” and she understood she had done something wrong but still clicked “share”.
—> Nothing to do IMO here except maybe remove this message section as we discussed already
* Then I asked her again to create a new page and she didn’t know how to do that. Then after asking her to look better at the UI she found the “Add” button and clicked “Add Page”. Again the issue with “space”. It was written “Main” and she didn’t fully understand that and started typing here own content in there “anniv MAM !!” and then in the page name she put “liste invités” and clicked create. I’m not sure what happened after (I don’t recall) but she clicked on the space menu entry at the top (which was displaying “anniv MAM !!”) and this led her to the WebHome page with a message saying that the page didn’t exist and she clicked on “edit” in that message to create it. She wondered why it was written “WebHome” in the title field and why she had to type again “liste invités” there but she did it and added content to the page and saved. Then she was surprised to see in the top menu “WebHome”. She didn’t understand that. She was expecting to see “liste invités”.
* Then I asked her to create another page which she did correctly.
* Then she wanted to navigate between the 2 pages she had created but she couldn’t find how. Actually the saw the “My Recent Modifications” panel but told me that this was ok because she had just edited the pages but if that wouldn’t have been the case she wouldn’t be able to navigate. She clicked several times on the menu entries at the top (wiki, space and page level) but never thought about clicking the little arrows there… When I asked her she said she saw those arrows but didn’t think it would do any good clicking them. Actually she told me that she was puzzle by those top menu names. She said she would have preferred to see “Spaces” and “Pages” with the arrows next to them and then she would have clicked on them to see all the spaces and all the pages.
—> We need a simpler way to navigate between pages (either some navigation panel or change the way the top menu works)
* Then I asked her to create a link between her 2 pages. She couldn’t imagine how to do that. Then I asked her “what would you do if I asked you to put some of the text you created in bold” and she understood that she had to edit the page…
Exercise 2
==========
The second exercise I gave her was about changing the wiki’s home page to be her own content.
I tested it with several options:
- option 1: clicking edit on Dashboard.WebHome (XE 6.1)
- option 2: clicking edit on Main.WebHome (XE 6.1)
- option 3: clicking edit on Main.WebHome but forcing the “inline” mode (XE 6.1)
- option 4: clicking edit on Main.WebHome but with the proposal of http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-10586
Results in short:
- option 1: She selected the text she wanted to change with the mouse and hit backspace… resulting in navigating to the previous page in the browser. Her rationale: she had clicked edit first so she thought she was in edit mode…
- option 2: The WYSIWYG appears, she again selected the text to change and hit backspace… resulting in the whole include macro being removed… Then she didn’t understand what happened…
- option 3: The dashboard appears in inline mode but a warning is displayed with technical explanations that confused her and same problem as with option 1 anyway.
- option 4: She couldn’t use the first version I did because she didn’t understand why when she clicked edit she wasn’t in the standard edit view (as with other pages she had edited before). I tuned the text leading to http://jira.xwiki.org/secure/attachment/28082/step2.png and thereafter she could use it just fine.
Conclusion
===========
This was very useful to me. It was worse than I imagined… but I now better understand how newcomers think when they see XWiki. To summarize we need to:
- explain the concept of “space” or replace it by “folder” which is an already known concept.
- show titles everywhere in the UI instead of page names (this is very confusing for the user): top menu, index livetables, etc
- add ways to navigate between pages more easily (either by changing the top level menu or introducing some navigation panels)
- there might be something to improve on the top level menu: She saw it as navigation only whereas it’s not fully and thus it’s not obvious that it contains actions that can be done at a given level (because it displays the current position and not generic terms such as “spaces”, “pages”.
Thanks

Hello Sirs,
I need to implement the function "jsontool.serialize" in the code below, groovy, and I do not understand the error that is accusing, can help me solve this?
groovydef hql0 = ", BaseObject as obj where doc.fullName = obj.name and obj.className = 'E-nova.E-novaClass'";def listProjetos = services.query.hql(hql0).execute();def json = ['totalprojetos': listProjetos.size(), 'projetos':[1000] , 'edges':[1000] ];def i = 0;

json.projetos.add({ id: xwiki.getDocument(item).getName() })}
jsontool.serialize(json);

Hello,
I wanted to know if it is possible to filter by groups with CAS authenticator.
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Authenticator+Jasig+CAS
I must maps groups with xwikiAllgroups?
Are there a parameter like LDAP one?
#-# Only members of the following group can authenticate.
#-# The following kind of groups are supported:
#-# * LDAP static groups (users/subgroups are listed statically in the group object)
xwiki.authentication.ldap.user_group=xxxxxxx
and BTW for ldap authentication what's "LDAP static groups (users/subgroups are listed statically in the group object)" meaning?
If I add a LDAP member in my LDAP group, I must relauinch Tomcat for synchronsie xwiki group?
Thxs.
Hello everybody,
I'm using a platform I coded ~a year ago to provide an interface handling
chrooted user creation, with secure storage of password and of course file
storage.
I thought it would be a good idea, since I released the code yesterday, to
have a github repo for it.
See
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/FTP+Wiki+%28File+Trans…
I'm not a real developper so surely the code can be improved.
I'd like to have a repo with the name of application-filetransferplatform ,
is it possible ?
Thanks
Guillaume
hi there, just upgraded to 6.0.1 from 5.4.4 and now experiencing weird
permission behavior, new added users via ldap has no rights to access the
main page, but can create spaces and even edit the main page without being
in any group at all
adding them to a group or giving the user admin rights does not change
anything.
already tried to: having the user isolated in a own group, granting the
user admin rights, CheckProgrammingRights with the admin script,
reinstalling the main ui core extension, but nothing seams to help
there are no users in the allgroup and the allgroup has no permission
active.
adding the user to that group or adding permission to that group did not
change anything...
meanwhile installing the 6.0.1 fresh on a debian to start debugging ...
best regards

Hi
We are trying to develop questionnaires within xwiki.
In order to get clear answers from people we prefer static lists above text
fields which would be more difficult to analyze.
As a approach we start with appWithinMinutes and add attributes of type
static list
Use case 1:
When we want the user to select one of a limited set of options we typical
use radio button as input control.
In edit mode this works fine.
But in collaborative mode this does not work very well for us.
What we mean by collaborative mode?
We have patients discussing the questionnaire with the expert.
Over the internet they both look at the page which holds the questionnaire
already completed by the patient...
But since default XWiki is showing only the value selected discussions
about why the patient chose the one option above the other are too
difficult.
We would like the radiobuttons view in edit mode, but disabled for
modification; especially since in view mode changing the elected option...
Would it be possible to modify the class and add something in the "Custom
Display"?
Is there a useful document on how the custom display option for classes
works?
Use case 2:
Some questions are of the type "How much would you agree"
Then the user can select between totally disagree, somewhat disagree,
neutral, somewhat agree totally agree.
We have now selected a static list with 5 options labeled as above...
But on the internet we often see sliders that can be put in 5 positions
(from left to right or from top to bottom)
Would it be possible to use such sliders via Custom Display. As a base
attribute we would then probably switch from static list to a numeric field
holding the value of the slider.
Same as in use case 1; can we also show the slider disabled in
'collaborative mode'
Many thanks for suggestions or links to documents that describe the 'custom
display'

Hello,
deletion of /home/data_xwiki/jobs/status/distribution/status.xml doesn't relaunch distribuution wizard on tomcat restart
Note: /webapps/xwiki/WEB-INF/xwiki.propertie indicate:
environment.permanentDirectory=/home/data_xwiki/
Is it a bug or are they a new method?
NB: deletion of /home/data_xwiki/jobs/status/distribution subdirectory ever doesn't work

In my last e-mail I discussed a bug where widgets are not displayed in
the administration web pages of our old XWiki. In an effort to fix this
bug, I have tried exporting the old XWiki into a new clean
installation. The issue is the bug comes into the new XWiki on importing.
I can export the pages one at a time without getting the bug. However,
the links do not come with them. This is a very tedious effort to
resort the web site this way. Does anyone have suggestions for tools
for systematically exporting and importing the web pages? Also, what do
we do about the users and other configured spaces? Any other "outside
the box" thinking or solutions are welcome.
Hello,
Is possible to restore a deleted sub-Wiki?

Well I really only intended to go from 5.4.4 to 5.4.5 but one thing let to
another so I decided to go with the latest milestone release. It all
appears to be working OK, but I'm getting an error during the migration
phase, where is says that some of the existing 5.4.4 UI pages/packages are
"not valid"...so the migration fails to complete properly. (When I restart
the container I get presented with the migration gui again).
My own wiki content appears to be OK, but now I'm not sure about the system
pages.
Are there any know issues with the migrator? Any way to bypass this validity
check and force it anyway?
Cheers,MT

A lot of images and attachments went missing after xwiki upgrade.
However, after rebooting my machine, xwiki was magically fixed.
I guess something made PostgreSQL instance refuse to serve its

Our XWiki web site is broken. The symptom is that many buttons,
drop-downs, text boxes do not display. We can display the main content
web pages and links to other pages work. The trouble comes when we try
to administer the web site. For instance, we cannot add a user to a
group because the text entry boxes and the "Add" button do not display
when the group edit page is displayed.
Example GETS that do not work are in the form of
http://gallica.ranchsystems.com:8080/xwiki/bin/cancel/XWiki/XWikiPreference…http://gallica.ranchsystems.com:8080/xwiki/bin/lock/XWiki/XWikiPreferences&…
These GETS result in the [HTTP/1.1 204 No Content 169ms] error.
We welcome all suggestions and advice on the matter.
Dear XWiki users,
Since I’ve seen several questions recently on the list related to XWiki events, I’ve spent several hours rewriting the XWiki Notifications Tutorial here:
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/WritingEventListenerTutor…
You’ll learn for example:
- Adding content to pages on save
- Log when a document is modified
- Send a mail whenever a comment is added
Enjoy!

-The XWiki dev team
Hi everyone,
On the 15th of December (i.e. in a month's time), it will be **10 years**
since the first commit on the XWiki open source project.
Ludovic did the first commit in CVS on Sourceforge:
"
15.12.2003 10:13:33, by ludovic
Initial revision
"
(Can be seen at
http://svnsearch.org/svnsearch/repos/XWIKI/search?from=20030101&to=20040101
)
10 years is starting to be some respectable milestone!
I invite everyone to join us in celebrating by adding your own story about
your interaction with the XWiki community or the XWiki software at
http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Drafts/TenYearsOfXWiki
<XWiki SAS hat>
Since I'm also the CTO of the XWiki SAS company, I'd like to officially
invite all the members of this great community to join us in celebrating
the 10 days of the XWiki project at the XWiki SAS office in Paris, France
on the 12th of December 2013.
Here's the invitation:
http://www.xwiki.com/lang/en/News/XWiki+10th+Anniversary
See you there!

Well done everyone!

Hi,
Create a link on a header in the same page is painfull.
First reflex is to use the link syntax of the link
label>>Space.Page#HMyheading as described
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/XWikiSyntax#HLinks and
ommitting the "Space.Page".
It seems quite natural but it does not work and we have to use the xwiki
syntax link specification : |anchor="HMyHeading"
Each time I have to do this, I spend a lot of time to retrieve this
information (my co-worker too), so I create my own xwiki user guide but I
think it should be more easy if this information stay on xwiki syntax...
Is it possible to add a new row in the the table of Links section with
|anchor="HMyHeading" ?
Or better, allow us to create links with label>>#HMyheading
By the way, I'm not alone:

Hi,
how can I check programmatically that a certain member is in a group.
I need this in my custom authentication, to prevent the same user from been
added several times to the same group.
Thanks
Hello together,
I don't know why, but since I upgraded to 6.0 (6.0.1) I cannot launch the
Syntax Guide (XWiki.XWikiSyntax). I just get an Failed to execute the
[velocity] macro error and that's it.
Here you will find the complete error message->

I have a clone of the XWiki instance where I don't have this problem but
there the content is shown twice.
I compare both pages and for me they are the same, same content, same
objects, same classes.
Where can I look or test whre this problem is coming from?
Best regards Kai

My scenario:

Hi list,
I'm trying to use the XWikiHeadersAuthenticator from xwiki-contrib. I'm new
to XWiki as you will see.
I built it with maven and put the jar in /usr/lib/xwiki/WEB-INF/lib. Now I
can see it in the core plugins : "xwiki-authentication-headers", "default
install".
I put XWiki behind an Apache reverse-proxy that set http headers, but
nothing special happened.
I put <logger name="org.xwiki" level="debug"/>
in /usr/lib/xwiki/WEB-INF/classes/logback.xml, but I never see the "Headers
auth started" banner that comes from this plugin's CheckAuth()
Is there anything special to do to register it ?
Docs refer to XAR plugins. So I added this in the pom.xml :
<packaging>xar</packaging>
<build>
<extensions>
<extension>
<groupId>com.xwiki.authentication</groupId>
<artifactId>xwiki-authentication-headers</artifactId>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
</extension>
</extensions>
</build>
Now I've got a xwiki-authentication-headers.xar, but I don't know what to
do with it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated !
Thanks,
Sam.
Hello,
I'm preparing a migration of 3 xwiki, actually installed on 2 servers. ( xwiki version 2.4, 5.4 & 3.4)
The new environment is a server with 3 tomcat 7 and 3 Oracle DBs.
The question is , do I need to install 3 OpenOffice on the server ?, because when I tried to deploy the second war (1st installation is ok) , I got a permgen space exception. Openoffce is configured on the same port (default 8100) on both installation.

We found out that we have several pages created in a different language than
the default language in our Wiki. Problem is that those pages are not found
directly when we search for them.
Our default language is "nl", but we also got pages in "en" and pages which
have no launguage at all.
I want to fix those pages, so I turned Localization back on, added "nl" and
"en" as available languages. Now the "EN" button appears when I am looking
at the page(s) which are created in English. But I don't see how I can
*change* that page into "nl".
Any help is appreciated!
On a side note, how can I find ALL pages which are not written in Dutch?
("nl")

Dear all,
we are using XWiki 6.0.1 and I have to set a different hostname because of a proxy between Internet and our xwiki server.
I installed the server with a different name and it still appears unless I set xwiki.home to the correct new name.
I also changed the hostname of the server and restarted it. In bash everthing is fine.
The crazy thing is, in the form for sending a link there is the correct URL visible, but not in the email.
Thank you for answering!
Best regards,
Mark Zimmermann

Hi list,
New to XWiki, I'd like to evaluate it for an intranet without internet
access usage.
Is that possible ? Maybe we can build a private repo where xwiki can find
its plugins ?
Is there a tuto or so that could explain this ?

Sam.
Dear,
I stored all my informations on: lumarjr.myxwiki.org. Recently, when I
logged at the site, I received the information that was necessary to
upgrade to the new version of XWiki.
I tried to follow the wizard, but in one of the steps occurred a error.
So, I tried to fix the problem by myself, but I couldn't. I think that
some important files from template was deleted.
Now, when I log at lumarjr.myxwiki.org, I receive the follow message:
/Notice//
//The requested document could not be found.//
//You can edit this page to create it.//
//The following versions are in the recycle bin://
//Deleter Delete date Actions//
//Lumar Bertoli 2014/05/19 02:59 Restore Delete /
I would like to fix this problem because I have a lot of informations at
this wiki. Can you help me to go to a stable version or to downgrade to
the version that was working?
Thanks a lot,
Lumar
Hello Vincent,
I could reproduce all examples, ty!
But the asynchronously challenge I am thinking about, When you say asynchronously, you mean use the http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Job+Module? Or use some java library?
Thanks!

Vicent,
Awsome!
I was exploring XWiki documentation and this page appeared to me, and I asked myself, how I could not find this page before, It could avoid unnecessarily question in the mail list. Now I see that was created today. Hahaha
Thank you very much.
Just one question. I have noticed that your are using the EventListener class.
It was not replaced with the AbstractEventListener class?
Thanks,
Danilo

Hello,
I'm having a problem with xwiki + groovy which throw PermGen exception a
lot.
I built a page(page A) which send ajax continuously to another page(page B)
At page B, it use groovy to process the request.
The problem as I checked is : It seem like each request, the engine compile
and load groovy script => many Script classes, objects are created that
stress out the memory.
I use jconsole to check and see something like this as Loaded classes:
[Loaded Script2523$_getData_closure6 from file:/groovy/script]
[Loaded Script2524$_getData_closure6 from file:/groovy/script]
[Loaded Script2525$_getData_closure6 from file:/groovy/script]
[Loaded Script2526$_getData_closure6 from file:/groovy/script]
I look like Xwiki engine use something like GroovyShell to evaluate the
groovy script each time it's loaded so it create a lot of Script classes
(something like that, i'm not sure)
How can I fix this? or anyway to work around?
Note that I have already set environment variables
-Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled

Hi,
I'd like to change the output of XWiki RSS feeds to show more details.
Currently it only shows "The document <Document Name> was created/changed".
More details like a summary of changes or the whole document contents in
case it's a new one would be appreciated.
Is it possible to edit the default RSS output?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

I want to prevent these kind of pages from being displayed to users.
Hi XWiki-Fans,
i am starting a REST-Client for XWiki and want to code a small Client. I
uploaded the main-class to
http://www.file-upload.net/download-8990392/RestfulClient.java.html
<http://www.file-upload.net/download-8990392/RestfulClient.java.html> .
Since yesterday i have a working GET and PUT-Method for a Page. You can
start it with
You have an idea how i can "compress" the method /createMethodGet(UriBuilder
builder)/ and /putPage(String wiki, String space, Page page)/ in a elegant
way. They are so big and i want to add also methods for objects, classes and
so on. Also the Delete-Method is needed. When i do that in the actual way i
produce a lot of redundant lines which i want to avoid.
I have not really a problem, its more like a puzzle with the question how to
split the logic in a nice way.
Regards,
Matthias

I need to create 3 wiki macros in my wiki space.
In order to make my life easier I create a page, named Macros, and created
all macros in that page.
Trying to use them I saw only one, the first, is visible and usable.
Other 2 are not visible and not usable in all pages (included Macros).
What's wrong ?
What should I do to make all visible.

I'm quite new in XWiki.
I've a Velocity macro of some lines (say 10) I need to use in many pages.
I'd like to avoid to repeat such lines for every page.
Is it possible to store such macro (with or without parameters) and reuse it
everyware ?
Tks

Hello People,
I am needing to create an observation module In my XWiki to monitor the comments creation actions of a specific space. All time that someone put a comment I need to send an email to a specific group.
I have found these two instructions:
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Observation+Module+Loc…http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/JavaScriptAPI
When I use one or other?
What is the event that the XWiki generates when someone input a comment? DocumentUpdatedEvent?
Thanks!

Assunto: Re: [xwiki-users] XWiki Documentation day - Idea
Hi Danilo,
This is definitely a good idea and one that we’ve proposed already (see http://markmail.org/message/avl4tl5xuefe7s7w).
FTR on this page we’ve listed all our ideas for the XWiki Day:
http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/XWikiDays
Now we’ve had a lot of bank holidays in France in May that were on Thursdays (our XWiki Day!) and thus I have not been very active on pushing this forward lately.
Tomorrow is again a bank holiday in France and I won’t be there and several xwiki committers won’t be here either (Guillaume, Thomas, just to name a few). So if someone wants to organize an XWiki Day tomorrow please stand up! :)
I’m sending a new mail on the devs list to decide what type of day to do next.
Thanks
-Vincent

Arghh! This is a bit disappointing - the PDF exporter seems a bit
underbaked?
* Bold face markup is lost on export.
* Export of a slab of plain text wrapped in {} loses newlines on
export.
* Box macro lost on export.
Hey All,
I've seen a couple of threads out in the web about importing an "XAR" file programatically, however it seems they might be out of date a bit. Has anyone had any luck using the API that xwiki has to do such a thing?
Thanks,
Chris.
Hi Pascal,
Internally we generate an anchor id based on the heading text:
/**
* Generate a unique id attribute using the passed text as the seed value. The generated id complies with the XHTML
* specification. Extract from <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#C_8">XHTML RFC</a>:
* <p>
* <code> When defining fragment identifiers to be backward-compatible, only strings matching the pattern
* [A-Za-z][A-Za-z0-9:_.-]* should be used.</code>
* </p>
*
* @param prefix the prefix of the identifier. Has to match [a-zA-Z].
* @param text the text used to generate the unique id
* @return the unique id. For example "Hello world" will generate prefix + "Helloworld".
*/
public String generateUniqueId(String prefix, String text)
Called with:
id = idGenerator.generateUniqueId("H", text);
This is why for the text “Level1 - Séct-io'n 4” we generate “HLevel1-SE9ct-io27n4"
What we could do though is allow the user to enter the heading text instead of the id and generate the id internally. However there’s stil the issue that generateUniqueId will generate a unique id (if you have twice the same heading, the second heading id will have “-1” suffixed..
In any case I agree it’s not user-friendly for this use case but also when specifying the anchor in the wiki link syntax and you should open a JIRA issue IMO.
Thanks

Hello,
The include function is to hard to use with some non-us character like french: éèà'ç ...
By example, I have a document with this section:
Level1 - Séct-io'n 4
Bla bla
if I want to include this section: "Level1 - Séct-io'n 4" I must use this include

I must replace special character with unicode code:
http://www.utf8-chartable.de/
I can use another way?
I must open a bug on http://jira.xwiki.org/ ?
NB: anchor doesn't work with include.
I have been tasked with updating an older Xwiki site and am just looking for
some info/links on what I am looking at. We are currently using 2.7.2 and I
want to upgrade to the latest 5.4.4. How much info am I going to lose and
can any of it be imported/exported? Thanks for any insight. I am new to
xwiki and will be doing a lot of reading.
Thanks all for any help or insight.

Hello XWiki community,
I have been following other open source communities and there one, the
XenServer community, that has a nice initiative, the Xen Document Day:
http://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Xen_Document_Days/TODO
" Xen Project document days are all day IRC events, facilitated by members
of the Xen Project community. The purpose of Xen Project Document Days is to
Improve user documentation
Improve developer documentation, including the creation of man pages,
etc.
Improve and maintaining the wiki: this means fixing important pages,
retiring old ones, help identify what is and isn't important, write new
pages, etc."
Do you think that this idea could be applicable to XWiki?

Hello,
trying to install UI upgrade using distribution wizard I get a message
for "XWiki
Enterprise - UI - Common 5.4.4":
Programming right is required to install extension
[org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-search-solr-api-5.4.4] on namespace
[wiki:rosmi]
class org.xwiki.extension.InstallException: Failed to resolve
extension at
org.xwiki.extension.job.internal.AbstractInstallPlanJob.installExtension(AbstractInstallPlanJob.java:698)
...
Entire text from UI attached to this email.
I guess the limitation of a xwiki farm was that I will not have any
programming rights. Can I just skip this upgrade? Or wait for a fix?
Many thanks,
Roman

Sometime it would be usefull to set "someware" one or more variables to use
in the wiki text in order to change them in a single point and see value
change propagated in every page containing the variable.
Is it possible ?
How ?

Hello Marius,
I could make the webservice and PoC works but I am not using the method $jsontool.serialize.
What is the impact if I not use this serialize method?
Ps.: I have updated the documentation.

The direction is ok, but:
* you should use the 'get' action instead of 'view' to access the webservice:
$xwiki.getURL('Main.WebService', 'get', $escapetool.url({
'outputSyntax': 'plain',
'limit': 10
}))
* the webservice should build the JSON in memory using plain Java objects (maps, lists, strings, numbers, boolean) and then serialize it. In Velocity you can use:
$jsontool.serialize({
'foo': [1, 2, 3],
'bar': {
'color': 'red',
enabled: true
},
'name': 'XWiki'
})
For writing the webservice I would start with Velocity and then move to Groovy but only if really needed.
Hope this helps,
Marius

Hello Community,
Can I use velocity methods inside my JS code?
For example, I want to parse my JSON text to Java objects inside a JS function:
<js code>
Function function (){
Var test = $jsontool.parse('["json string"]')
}
Function();
</js code>
Is it possible?
Thanks
Danilo

Hello,
Just a word to indicate than xwiki 6.0 (or UI extension) contain this page on new wiki: under XWiki/OfficeImporter
/bin/view/XWiki/EdouardEV
Edward.
The story I
will tell you may seem crazy, you will find exciting or perhaps
annoying, but you should read it to the end .. That's all I have to say
..
It is simply the story of a man named Edward.
Edward's
father and recently married to Hailey, a young blonde woman, looking
like a femme fatale-length hair, chestnuts brown eyes, luscious lips,
and a pretty bright complexion.
...
<cut>
...
Thus, the love of two fools, was considered much more important than the life of the mother of the son of Eward ..
The latter, who was in bed, a few hundred meters from here, will be
recovered by Edward and Hailet, and will remain in ignorance, diabolical history, probably decades, or perhaps even for life .
End.

Hi
I had had xwiki application installed on my local machine. When I wanted to install new version I ran into a problem. During startup application is able to somehow tell that there was another xwiki version installed and is trying to migrate data. I don't want to have old data migrated to the fresh installation. I've deleted index old files, changed database schema, removed previous one - but during startup application is still trying to access old database to perform data migration. Where the informations about old installation is comming from? What other remains should I remove to make xwiki 'forget' about previously installed one?
Best regards,
Paweł
Dear community,
I wanted to test the apt/1.0 syntax, so I updated xwiki.cfg to add
"apt/1.0" in parameter "xwiki.rendering.syntaxes" and restarted my wiki.
When editing a page, no "apt/1.0" choice appeared in the Document Syntax
Panel.
So in another page I displayed the available parsers and renderers, which
gave:
Parsers : [XWiki 2.1, Markdown 1.0, XWiki 2.0, TWiki 1.0, XWiki 1.0,
JSPWiki 1.0, MediaWiki 1.0, DocBook 4.4, HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0, Creole 1.0,
Confluence 1.0, Plain 1.0]
Renderers : [DocBook 4.4, TeX 1.0, XWiki 2.1, Annotated XHTML 1.0, XWiki
2.0, XHTML 1.0, XHTML Macro 1.0, Plain 1.0]
(I'm on 5.1, apt was added in 4.3, so it should be there unless it was
removed later and I missed the release note - or there was an error during
install/upgrade but it seems unlikely)
So from Extension Manager, I searched and installed
org.xwiki.rendering:xwiki-rendering-syntax-apt-5.1.jar.
No change on the list of parsers/renderers, still no APT.
I thought that probably renderers and parsers are registered only at start
and maybe not by EM, so I restarted the wiki again, but no change on the
list of parsers/renderers.
Eventually I moved that jars (for xwiki-rendering-syntax-apt and
xwiki-rendering-xml) from the extension repository under perm data dir, to
WEB-INF/lib of the webapp, and restarted again, and apt now appears in the
list of parsers/renderers !
Then I tried to enter some content in a page, with apt syntax, and on
saving got this:
Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
org/apache/maven/doxia/module/apt/AptParser

... though from EM, dependencies of the apt renderer seem to be correctly
installed (either provided or installed) :

Doxia :: APT Module1.3 (in wiki xwiki) Installed
XWiki Rendering - Legacy - API5.1 (in wiki xwiki) Provided
XWiki Commons - Legacy - Component - API5.1 (in wiki xwiki) Provided
doxia-module-apt-1.3.jar is present in extensions repo (under data dir), so
I thought maybe it had to be present in WEB-INF/lib (though it seems
surprising that it could cause an error, never had those kind of
classloader issue with xwiki extensions). So I moved it to WEB-INF/lib and
restarted and .... now it's ok. Just tested with a page, and the result is
very nice ! :)
To be complete, I checked in war file of 6.0.1, and
xwiki-rendering-syntax-apt-6.0.1.jar is not present. So I suppose APT
format has not be much used yet ;-)
Thanks,
Jeremie
PS: I would love to be able to publish a maven site to XWiki ... But I
think parsing APT from xwiki may not be the best, as the idea is not to
edit a maven site from xwiki (at least, my purpose is to view published
maven sites, you could use apt parser to edit maven sites sources). What I
would like is to be able to view a maven site from a site packaged in a jar
in a maven repository, and use xwiki as a front-end for maven sites - that
would be cool (or publish those jars into xwiki as attachments, so they
would be indexed by solr)
Hey all,
I'm trying to add a user to a group (Lets say XWikiAdminGroup) by utilizing the XwikiGroupService.addUserToGroup. Is this the correct way to go about this programmatically? Or should I go about it another route?
Thanks,
Chris.

Hi,
is it possible to change the compression settings for the image plugin?
With the default settings, the quality of downscaled images is rather low.
Greetings, Michael
The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of
XWiki 6.1 Milestone 1.
This release introduces the ability to change the width of the panel
columns and comes with an improved Active Installs feature (with
evolution graph and many new filters). Developers can now use the LESS
preprocessor for skin style sheets. A couple of bug fixes (18) and
some small improvements (24) make this release worth trying.
You can download it here: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download
Make sure to review the release notes:

Hello xwikiers,
as usual I google "xwiki syntax" and find a first match being this page:
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/XWikiSyntax
But it now displays "Failed to execute the [groovy] macro" with a root cause being a dom4j error.
I am not sure how to debug that without console.

I just upgraded my test server to 6.0 and ran into some troubles that
maybe others would appreciate hearing about.
First there was the mysql root password issue as reported at
http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XE-1396
Xwiki still wouldn't start after the upgrade and
/var/log/tomcat7/localhost.log said "SEVERE: Error configuring
application listener of class org.xwiki ... Unsupported major.minor
version 51.0"
Turns out my server had java6 AND java7 installed and I think tomcat was
picking up 6 which no longer works for Xwiki 6.0. So I opened up
/etc/default/tomcat7 and set the JAVA_HOME var to the java7 folder and
now xwiki works again.
Hope that helps someone out there... :)

Having some "fun" understanding what ends off a table in 2.1 syntax. If
I have a normal paragraph of text following a table, and I want one
blank line between the table and the text, I either have to precede the
next para with \\:
|Last row A|Last row B
\\Next paragraph of text
---or--- leave three blank lines between? As in:
|Last row A|Last row B
Next paragraph of text
In both examples only one blank line gets rendered between.
