The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of
XWiki Enterprise 4.2 Milestone 2. This release adds support for
storing an email address and a list of wiki page names in XWiki
objects using dedicated xclass property types. It also adds the
ability to have an object property whose value is computed from the
other properties. For developers this release introduces default
custom displayers for easier customization of the way XWiki object
properties are displayed.

Hi, how exactly do I install the XWiki Eclipse Plugin? This description
http://xeclipse.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome#HInstallation does
definitely not lead to a satisfiying result.
Besides XEclipse and the XWiki Eclipse Plugin - are there any other IDEs
that one can work with, e.g. IntelliJ, NetBeans etc.?
Thanks and bests,
Moritz
Hi All,
i am on xwiki 3.5. i have created a macro and included in my TestPage with
below code
*{{RecentChangesMacro rcSpace="MySpaceName"}}{{/RecentChangesMacro}}*
Now in RecentChangesMacro , i have below code , which tries to access the
above passed parameter inside velocity template
*#set($rcSpace1 = $xontext.macro.params.rcSpace)*
but when i print it with below snippet
*Value of rcSpace1 is $rcSpace1*
the output is *"Value of rcSpace1 is $rcSpace1" *where expected the output
is * "Value of rcSpace1 is MySpaceName".*
I am not sure why i am able to access the parameter rcSpace in macro?
For information, i have also attached the object of
"WikiMacroParameterClass" with parameter name "rcSpace" as explained at
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/WikiMacroTutorial.

Hello,
I want to ask whether there is a way to configurate the navigaton-bar? I'd like to klick the headword and then the webhome comes up AND the next deeper level in the navigation-bar pops open.
Is there any possibility to handle that?
Furthermore in the navigation-bar the first link should be webhome link every time. Can i create a ranking of links in the navigation bar?
Can i make the navigation panel not dynamic but static? I mean that you manage the Spaces and Pages on your own.
Thanks for your answers
Hi,
Is there the possibility to display a custom Google map with MapMacro? I can
only input a location but no specific map. I'm thinking of a map created
with the "My Maps" Feature where people could add recommendations and tips.
I would like to show this custom map in Xwiki (as a magnet for users), so
everybody can see at one glance where colleagues have been and what they
found there.

I want this wiki for project-management of our non-profit-organization based in Spain (but with international members), starting with a team-based study on funds of documentation. XWiki ist thought to be an ideal means of communication and collaboration amongst the participants.
Lateron we might use it for other projects, as well, on an international level.
We hope to be admitted at the Community farm.

Hi,
As we plan to use Xwiki as our new wiki in our company, I'm looking at
various use cases.
One cool feature would be an Inventory System for Hard- and Software.
I've set up a first draft with AppWithIn Minutes and it is looking not bad.
But in a perfect world it would be cool to have following features in
addition:
1. Either: When the "Add Entry" Button is pressed a new unique number will
be generated ( a sequential number as Inventory number)
Or: After the all data have been filled in, such a number will be generated
(e.g. 01 for Hardware 03 for PC 0234 for running number, gives Inventory
number 01030234)
2. If I put secret data in there (e.g. Pin/PUK for mobiles) I was able to
let it not show in the list AppWithInMinutes generates (viewable only for
admins), but of course in the generated Page, everybody can see it. Is there
a way that this is only viewable for admins as well? Of course I can
prohibit this by securing the hole page, but ( again in a perfect world :)
it would be good that the employee can see and edit all his stuff in the
inventory, but only he and/or admins can see the confidental data.
Maybe one or another has a tip for me, or can point me in the right
direction.
Best Regards
Stocki

I am using XWiki for managing Knowledge. Now i want to project a backup
strategy. First of all i thought about to create a *.rar archive from whole
XWiki Enterprise folder which has a amount from 1.5GB. In a batch i copy
this rar to another harddrive. The rar archive is about 850MB.
and with the windows scheduler i import different batchs for each day
another.
But a better solution is the incremental backup.
Is there any way to make a incremental backup? Because i dont want to have
about 10 x 850 MB files for my backup system.
Thank you very much in advance for the answers.

Hello there,
I'm in the planning phase of installing XWiki and wanted to set up an XWiki/Tomcat server
and an Oracle server, both running Debian. The wiki will not likely have more than a four
digit number of pages, few images saved in the file system and no other files uploaded.
What are the experiences for such setup concerning RAM and disk space?

Hi all,
is there something special to accomplish when sending mails in a scheduled
Job?
This line :
xwiki.mailsender.sendHtmlMessage("test(a)test.com","toto(a)toto.com",xwiki.null,xwiki.null,"Nouveaux
articles",xwiki.getDocument("Blog.Newsletter").getRenderedContent(),"",[])
sends mail when executed in a 'normal' page, whereas nothing happens when
the same code is pasted in the job treatment field of a scheduled job
(without groovy tag)...
I precise that the scheduled job is planified, and we couldn't see
anything wrong in its status.
Thx for the help,
Nicolas
Hi,
I would like to request a wiki on the XWiki Community farm. I am interested in using the wiki for collaboration, brainstorming, and planning with a fairly small number of other individuals (around 10?) involved with UUFL, a non-profit organization participating in social justice and community outreach activities in Lawrence, Kansas.
My username on myxwiki.org is pcalnon, and the server name that I am requesting for the wiki is uufl.myxwiki.org.
Thank you,

Yes. Right now, given that an user with edit rights can add objects to a
page, that user is able to add XWikiRights objects and thus set rights at
the page level.

I think there is some kind of "safety code" related to this, but you'd need
a developer to verify. It might simply be a bug.
Is it in gerenal possible to restrict access to the access page and to the
objects page for regular users?
>
You could look at changing the Apache configuration to disallow adding
XWikiRights objects, or write a listener in XWiki that detects these kind
of changes and rolls them back automatically if the context user is not an
admin.
Thanks,
Guillaume

I am not XWiki developer and hardly ever would be. Even if i have my favorite
mysfeatures.
Also here are script-making and script-using guys. So i don't think this
question would be complete off-topic.
===
It seems that XWiki was never tested on Windows as none of developers had
it.
It seems that XWiki GitHub just cannot be cloned to Windows now.
And i don't know if can be compiled there (hopefully JVM can overcome it,
but who knows)
But what i noticed again, is that hugely redundant file naming
xwiki-platform-core/xwiki-platform-classloader/xwiki-platfor
m-classloader-protocols/xwiki-platform-classloader-protocol-attachmentjar/src/te
st/java/org/xwiki/classloader/internal/protocol/attachmentjar/AttachmentURLStrea
mHandlerTest.java
Why that repeating time and gain, like if you use flat filesystem rather
than tree ?
It looks like calling an object
org.org-xwiki.org-xwiki-classloader.org-xwiki-classloader-internal.org-xwiki-classloader-internal-protocol.org-xwiki-classloader-internal-protocol-attachmentjar.org-xwiki-classloader-internal-protocol-attachmentjar-AttachmentURLStreamHandlerTest
Nonsense ? Truly so.
Yet on file system level Java developers usually do it, not only XWiki but
many teams.
Why ? Aren't directories given to suppress such redundancy ?
Not only that give overly long unobservable paths, it also disables some
programs on Windows.
I heard that git has internal 4KB file path length limitations.
I wonder what UNIX guys would say about sanity if one day they would try to
download from Windows file with name about 16KB long...

Hi,
We have a problem with titles with the 4.1.3 release (not sure if it's
release specific however, I just spend lot of time in logs because of
the migration) :
When title contains the character '#' at the end, the title disappears

However the two xwiki's seem to work separately, the data of the other is only fetched if it has not yet come into cache.
The only suspicious log is, in both consoles:

Is there anything else I need to watch?
The README in the directory of udp.xml was absolutely useless, or at least lead me to no change... have badly read it?

I would like to capture all of the historical mailing list traffic locally
for further processing (formatting and searching). At
http://lists.xwiki.org/pipermail/users/ I am able to download each month's
traffic in a "Gzip'd Text" format. Can anyone tell me how to convert these
files to something useful? I researched this subject on Google and, while
there is a fair amount of information and even some scripts for converting
this Pipermail gzipped format to mbox format, it doesn't match up with what
I actually find in the download files from this list, whether in the
original gz format or after uncompressing. For example, the scripts expect
to find "From:" literals in clear text, and that is not the case in these
files.

Hello fellow XWiki developers and users,
would it be possible to share an export of parts of your XWiki installations to help Savitha's testings in her XWiki Solr project?
Among interesting things, I'd wish:
- a few spaces with objects and their displayers
- a clean series of multilingual pages.
It can be somewhat big (e.g thousands of documents) but not too much (less than 1Gb).
Ideally you reply with an offer on the mailing list then we can exchange directly a link to the xar. I do not think it's a good idea to send the xar as attachment to the list!

normal Menu Macro. Can someone give me a hint how to include the xwiki
menu to the top of the page. I'm new to xwiki and i do not know if i can
set the menu globally for all spaces without the MenuCode Panel Extension.
Thank you very much

Hello XWiki ers,
on #xwiki, Sergiu was kind enough to indicate that my current bug, the fact that $!xwiki.getXWiki().Param(...) returns empty is a programming rights issue: the problem seems to be that the resource page, whose rendering is entirely made outside of the wiki-page-content.
And I could verify that by having, in all pages where the above is empty, an output that of $doc.hasProgrammingRight() which is false.
Question 1: how can I evaluate that another page has programming rights?
Question 2: is there a way to give programming rights to everything in a space? to all code in included .vm files?
thanks in advance

Hello,
right now I'm trying to use the minificated
Scriptaculous.js/Prototype.js, but I don't have a clue how it works.
I tested my application with the original files and it works. Could
somebody explain to me how I have to transform my code e.g. see below to
make it work with the minificated files brought by xwiki.
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" charset="utf-8">
// <![CDATA[
Sortable.create('testlist',{ghosting:false,constraint:false,hoverclass:'
over',
onChange:function(element){$('testlist_serialize').innerHTML =
Sortable.serialize(element.parentNode)}
});
// ]]>
</script>
Many thanks in advance,

I'm developing a Java servlet application that needs to fetch pages from an
XWiki instance in the same container. It needs the content rendered in
XHTML. Ideally, I'd like to get just the page content, without any of the
extra navigation/layout markup. Whats the best way to do this?
I've looked at using the REST API, but as far as I can figure out it only
provides the content in the xwiki syntax. Is there a way to get the content
rendered in XHTML through this API?

Hello
I cannot manage to use standard option to print several pages. When i use
children pages, it works but page break option won t work, pages titles and
pictures inside pages either. I also uses specific panel dowloaded on xwiki
site. The pdf option gui works but i still have the same problems.
Thanks
Another newbie question, I'm afraid.
I have a simple Glossary application that I've written, and I've managed to
figure out how to write a velocity script to retrieve all of the glossary
terms and put them into a JSON array. The problem is, the velocity script
output is being html encoded and sent to the browser as text, including the
enclosing <script> blocks. If I wrap the whole thing in {{html}} macro
calls, the velocity script doesn't run. If I just enclose the <script>
opening and closing tags in their own {{html}} macro call, the calls fail.
What am I missing here? How do I get velocity script to render as HTML/JS?

Hello,
right now I'm trying to modify the pdf-export for adding attached
pdf-files to the end of the export like the existing functionality for
adding attached images.
Starting from the beginning with the pdf.vm I couldn't find an analogy
to include the pdf-files in the way of image-files, because as I see it
the images just get rendered as html.
Can anybody give me a hint how to proceed to solve this task?
Many thanks in advance,

I have developed a simple glossary app for my XWiki instance.
Everything works great until I try to add an Annotation to the page,
generally on content that is a TextArea type. As soon as I save the
annotation, all of the fields of the app immediately disappear.
They won't re-appear until I delete the Annotation.
What am I missing? Does my TextArea have to somehow link to
the AnnotationClass?
Sorry if this is a newbie question; I'm just getting started with XWiki.

Hello all,
I am very enthusiast about using the Lyrebird skin.
I downloaded the XAR, imported it in my wiki. But unfortunately
nothing happen when I enter 'Lyrebird' in the field where we have to
set the skin. Nor when I add skin=Lyrebird in the parameters of my
query...
Could anyone help in setting this skin in my wiki?!
Thanks for your help,
Nicolas
" file:///C:\path\to\resource\Instructions.txt "
that is broken path.
DOS used slash for command line options instead of dash on traditional
systems.
So when folders were aadded to later DOs versions, they had to use
back-slashes.
But outside of DOS-Win-OS/2 world the regular slashes are used still.
Try converting all the back-slashes into proper ones.
Also read https://www.google.com/?q=backslash+string+escaping+c
I think your string just contained non-printable special code as a result of
wrong slashes used.

Hi,
I have realized that some fonts having more than 1 word in their font names (not font file name) not embedded in the exported PDF file. (i.e. "Courier New", "Trebuchet MS", "Comic Sans MS", etc..) Other fonts embedded into the PDF without problems.
Any comments?
Thanks.
Dear Nabble users,
We've just noticed a problem. If you've been posting through the Nabble UI (see http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/Forum ) then it's possible you've posted neither to the "XWiki - User" sub forum nor to the "XWiki - Devs" sub forum which means that you've posted to the root forum and this root forum is not linked to any mailing list.
This means that your messages have not reached the XWiki Users and Devs mailing lists and thus nobody has seen them. Which explains why you haven't received answer to your messages…
We had put the following notice on http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Community/MailingLists :
"
Note that using Nabble allows you to post to the forum without registering (the post will not be sent to the XWiki mailing list though and thus only users checking the forum will see your post). Even though we don't like users to do this (since users will not automatically receive answers to their questions for example and it doesn't create a relationship) it might come handy under some circumstances.
"
However seen the number of posts not sent to the list and which don't have any answer it's not working.
Thus we've decided to not allow anymore posting to the root forum and from now on you'll need to post to the User or Dev forum which means you'll need to register on the xwiki lists too. When you create a messae Nabble guides you on how to do this.
Thus if you've sent messages through Nabble but haven't received any answer please consider resending them.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience

after i checked "remember me" during login (i guess that switches session
credentials passing from URL GET to cookies), i find that some sporadic
times the login is just lost, i suddenly get treated as anonymous. Most
noticeable (or most frequent maybe) moments is when i try to engage open

that i am authenticated enough, yet action executor would consider it not
enough and diminish the session to non-auth.
Just booted my Windows, launched Jetty, found myself still loggen into XWiki
as admin, opened config and pressed started Office Server. Voila - i was
redirected to logins screen, where i had to enter my login credentials twice
(not mis-typing here, all from browser's auto-complete) and then i got back
onto Office Server config page - and the server was NOT started, so the
action had either failed or been aborted. The second attempt succeeded.

Hi everyone,
I'm new on xwiki, never heard of it before but here in the company they want
to give it a try.
I've been searching a lot now about this error and I think mine is quite
particular from what I read and my conf.
I followed this steps in order to complete the xwiki installation.
1) Copy the xwiki.war into the webapps folder, inside a new folder called
xwiki
2) Copy the mysql driver (mysql-connector-java-5.1.9.jar) into
$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/xwiki/WEB_INF/lib
3) Edit the hibernate.cfg.xml file to use the mysql database
4) Then opened Mozilla at http://myaddres:9191/xwiki/
I get the following error pointing to hibernate.cfg.xml from what I see

Then why my case is particular... here's why.
The server has XAMMP installed (PHP, MySQL, Apache) configured with another
application, so I assume that I dont need to install MySQL
since it's working now across XAMMP, and the process mysqld is running (we
are using Linux CentOS, based on Red Hat), so we are not sure
what's next about this problem.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi!
check http://wiki.x.org/xwiki/inline/ColorThemes/DefaultColorTheme
Attach new logo to this page first and edit in ColorTheme editor via link above. Just fill in picture name and save. Should work.
This is the simpliest way :-)
Kind regards

i see there is HTML export regardless of OpenOffice launched
but i cannot see HTML import.
Maybe there is just no import infrastructure outside visual editor, and
latter only knows about OpenOffice formats, dunno.
But HTML format for exchanging simple documents is not less used than RTF
:-)
And it can be parsed and imported regardless OpenOffice presence (It is
already done to a point. Office documents are converted into HTML then
imported).
I wonder if someone did/planned HTML import? at least i can not find tickets
on that.
//Also Export/Import are usually considered a pair, and seeing Export in top
menu and import inside the WYSIWYG editor looks somehow inconsistent, from
"GUI is self-documenting" point of view...//

I have run Admin.SanityCheck and found that I have
10 records of DOCUMENTS: checking for data with bad characters in
document name
1 record of ATTACHMENTS: checking for attachment where the document
does not exist
6 records of ATTACHMENTS: checking for attachment with no attachment
archive
3 records of ATTACHMENTS: select "checking for attachment with no
attachment content
137 records of DOCUMENT - Translations: Checking original documents that
are marked translated
137 records of DOCUMENT - Translations: Checking orphaned translated
document (without an original document)
377 records of DOCUMENT - Check that Parent fields still exist
This seems like not that good statistics and I would gladly fix it, but I
don't know how. More over it's not always clear what the issue is and what
are its consequences (like in e.g. Document Translations' cases).
Is it possible to extend the script with mentioned above info?
You can reply to this thread explaining items one by one and providing
instructions on how to fix each issue and then just gather the info into the
script.

Hi all,
I've been asked by my company to set up a XWiki to share documentation
between different groups. So far it's been going pretty well, but I seem
to have a problem with the panel sidebars. When logged in as
administrator everything shows up as it should: on the left a navigation
panel and on the right the standard quick links and recent modifications
panels. If I change however to a normal user the panels aren't shown,
only the blank spaces where they should be.
I expect it to be some issue with group or user rights I, perhaps,
changed, but I have no idea where to find it. And I can't seem to find
any documentation over which groups can see which panels?
Thanks in advance,
Arne Pannecoucque

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of XWiki Enterprise 4.1.3.
This is a bugfix release fixing a serious issue preventing the migration from version 3.5.1 and earlier (especially when the wiki had statistics data in the database). It also provides a new migration procedure that is almost 200 times faster, fixing the problematic downtime for large wikis and wiki farm.
You can download it here: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download
Make sure to review the release notes:

Thomas, Sergiu - thanks for your responses.
@Sergiu: I did all the
modifications you've mentioned. It seemed to work, but unfortunately
I've found a certain flaw in it. When I have a few browser tabs with
XWiki opened and I'm doing something only on one of them all the time,
the logout happens anyway.
Is there anything else I could do to fix this?

Nope it hasn't :)

Hello XWiki experts,
I've been getting into a crazy situation where I could not save a page anymore. The error reported was a hibernate error complaining about consistency violation wrt to a primary key on xwikilinks.
Having looked into the DB, the indexes, tried to remove things, .... I just realized that the error was the parser.
That page (a groovy page) was recorded in Syntax 1.0 and the parser caught a piece of string [A-Z], within a regexp, as a link. That'd be a broken link, but it turned out to create this constraint violation.
For this case I just upgraded the syntax.
Good to know in the future for us, and probably others since "quickly patching a syntax 1.0 page" is likely to be something several people still do although it's all deprecated.

Hi, we have made the experience, that regular users can edit access rights
for pages. Is this regular behaviour? And funnily: The user can only _grant_
access rights but cannot revoke them. Plus: he can only grant it to _one_
group/user. In both cases (when trying to revoke or when trying to grant to
any other group/user) the system says, that there was an error when
communicating with the server.
Is it in gerenal possible to restrict access to the access page and to the
objects page for regular users?
Thanks!
Hi,
The function $util.clearName "Cleans up the passed text by removing
all accents and special characters to make it a valid page name." It
removes spaces from names, as demonstrated in the FAQ tutorial [1].
Removing spaces is a bit too much for my taste; I've resorted to using
$util.clearAccents to filter page names (also replacing periods with
commas!). I hope the users of my wiki won't find illicit uses/breaking
page names. Are there better alternatives?
I agree using spaces can make it difficult to access URLs, but the
page names become far clearer.
Cheers, Joris
Mistake on my side, it's the latest XEM 4.1.2.

Subject: XEM 4.0.3: Bulletin Board doesn't work properly
Hi all,
I installed XEM 4.0.3 from scratch, created wiki and install Bulletin Board application I have used with XEM 2.3 in the past.
I discovered small but troublesome bug: If a new topic is created, after Save and view button is pressed, the created page lost information about its parent page, so it's not listed in the list of forum topics. If the parent document is added manually, everything is fine.
I know BB application is old and based on XWiki 1.0 Syntax, but it's still valuable and there is no, as far as I now, replacement. I tried to find a source of the problem but I failed. Do somebody have any recommendation what to check and change in the code (or somewhere else) to solve the problem?
With regards,
Jan

Hi,
wondering if there is a solution for the following problem:
I'm using a sheet, which includes a macro, which in turn is able to
dynamically include special documents with the help of a combo-box.
When creating a new 'mother' document based on that sheet and including
other documents which have for example attached pictures and are
referenced in the document for displaying them, they will lose their
reference and won't be showed. If i attach the same picture (with the
same title) to this 'mother' document, it's back there at the position
in area of the included document, where I need it.
Nevertheless this is not what I want to do. I just want to keep the
image reference ([image:IMGXXXX.JPG||width="300"]) of the included
document to its own attachments and not to the 'mother' document.
Many thanks and best regards,
Josef Haimerl
Hi All,
I want to hide history section which i see between attachments and
information section. As per link i tried using below code snippet at
various places(like view.vm,menuview.vm and xwikivars.vm) but nothing
worked. I am on wiki 3.5.
#set ($showhistory = "no")
Could you point me how to hide the history section from wiki?
We want to restrict the characters that our users can use in their (new)
pagenames
We don't want our users to use (space), slashes, brackets, etc. How can we
achieve this?

Hello,
Is there any generic solution to this problem? I get lots of such issues when exporting documents. Each time exporter runs for 5 to 10 minutes before giving me one error i have to fix. It's very time consuming.

Hello Thomas,
thank you for your quick response.
Investigations here have shown that the later exception (truncated zip) was due to the old xwiki not exporting completly the xar (but without any error anywhere in the logs). I see there is a large xar export script at "http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Large+Wiki+Export". but it exports to a folder. Do i simply have to zip this folder to feed it to large xar import?

Right now, we have to set the rights on every childpage.

Hi everyone,
I'm about to submit some talk proposals related to XWiki for Devoxx Belgium (http://www.devoxx.com/display/DV12/Home).
I was thinking it might be good to ask you what you think should be best that I present related to XWiki. What would you like to hear yourself at a general conference like Devoxx?
The tracks they have this year:
* Java Standard Edition (JDK 8++)
* Java Enterprise Edition (focus on Java EE 7 and beyond)
* Web (includes HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3 and RIA technologies)
* Mobile (includes Android, Hybrid and mobile web)
* Methodology
* Other languages on the JVM
* Architecture, Cloud and Security
* Future<Devoxx> is a brand new Devoxx track. Here we'll embracing the world where software meets hardware and schedule talks on walking objects (think NAO's, lots of NAO's), interactive objects like Arduino, but also intelligent flying and real-time rolling devices! Basically anything that feels happy in the Future<Devoxx> :o)
The formats they have available:
* Conference (60 mn)
* University (University talks are in depth presentations of 2 x 60 minutes with a 15 minute break in between. )
* Tools in Action (Tools in Action are 30 minute presentations demonstrating a programming tool.)
* BOF (BOF sessions are 60 minutes long, scheduled in the evening and are informal.)
* Quickie (Short 15 minute presentations during Lunch breaks)
* Hands-on Labs (3 hour hands-on sessions. )
Some ideas I have (from talks I've done in the past or new ideas):
* XWiki: A web development runtime platform
(example: http://www.slideshare.net/xwiki/xwiki-a-web-development-runtime-platform-92…)
Track: java, javaEE, web
* XWiki: The Long tail of applications
Explain how XWiki addresses the long tail of application
(see http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/SecondGenerationWiki)
Show lots of nice implementations of XWiki done for various use cases + present architecture and main concepts
Track: java, javaEE, web
* Hands on: Create a Conference web site live (1 hour or up to 3 hours if we do it as a Hands on lab)
See http://massol.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Blog/Breizhcamp2012XWiki
Track: java, javaEE, web
* Quickie: Application Within Minutes
Create a real useful web application in 15 minutes
Need to find a use case: bike shop, holiday request app, expense report, etc
Track: java, javaEE, web
* Creating your own project's quality dashboard (1 to 3 hours)
Uses XWiki to create a website for your development project with the following features:
* Documentation for your project
* Display JIRA issues
* Display Sonar metrics
* Display Jenkins statuses
* Display Git statistics of your project
* Application to perform releases (checklist, release notes)
* Send alerts (mail, IRC, etc) when thresholds are reached
Example: http://incubator.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Improvements/XWikiOrgProposal2#…
Track: Methodology, java, javaEE, web
* Bridging Open source and Business
A model for professional open source based on the example of the XWiki open source project
Provides a solution for having a real community-based open source while having one or several companies funding the project
Track: Methodology
* A quick history of wikis (Quickie: 15 mn)
Shows evolution of wikis since their creation and where wikis are heading in the future
Let me know if you have new ideas, if you like some of those, how you would modify them to better fit Devoxx, etc.
Thanks a lot

PS: Let me know if you plan to be in Devoxx this year! :)
I'm using XWIKI ENTERPRISE 3.3 and I need the wiki to have a closed registration process, i.e., it must not allow any user to register and validate their own account. Either the administrator will have to include them, or the user could register but the admin would have to approve the registration.
Currently, I changed the Registration options so the validation code is NOT sent to the user. But I can't find a way for an administrator to activate a user (or deactivate, for that matter).
I appreciate any directions you can give me.
Hi,
Over in the XWiki Research Department, we've been working on some exciting new developments.
While XWiki provides industry leading flexibility for defining, storing and querying data structures in SQL based stores, we are researching how to bring storage to Cassandra distributed NoSQL data store and give you the power to define and store your own true Java native Objects.
In this demonstration we run 2 integrated XWiki/Cassandra nodes and show changes propagating from one to the other as we edit pages. We show that you can stop one node and the wiki is still fully functional with only one node running. Then we restart the downed node and show the edits which were made while the node was down propagating over from the running node.
Here is the demonstration video:

While this is still in heavy development, we hope to be bringing up live nodes for you to play with as soon as possible.
Thanks,

Am i right that the choice is between never running OOo, until admin runs it
explicitly, or always-running OOo ?
Maybe it is wishfull thinking but without description by property name alone
i'd tend to read it "auto start when needed"
I don't want OOo always running on loaded server.
Can it be set up, that XWiki runs OOo if needs it functionality and shuts it
down if unused for, say, 10 minutes ?
What if OOo crashed ? Would XWiki restart it ?
On Linux there is XInetd, so potentially i could set sentry on :8100 port
and lie XWiki that server is always running.
I don't know of such functionality in Windows and i'd better keep OOo
managed by XWiki

Users can define XClasses using the XWiki class creation interface and those XClasses are compiled into native Java classes which can be loaded and stored in the Cassandra distributed store.

Hi all,
I'm just starting to use Xwiki, having been the admin for my company's
JSPwiki installation for a few years now. In that one, we had a very
useful part of the wiki which was an online database schema for our
databases. You see a list of the tables, which you can click on and see
the list of fields in that table, which you can click on and see the
information regarding that field. Our method was to take a DDL and run it
through a script which parsed it out into files that JSPwiki could read.
This way, we could take updated DDL's, run those through the script, and
keep updating the table list and table info pages, while leaving the field
named pages untouched.
Assuming I have described that correctly, does anyone have any solutions
that would be similar to this in Xwiki? Something that doesn't involve
manually updating the table list and table info pages? I was thinking we
could modify the script to spit out something that we could the import into
Xwiki, but I'm not sure if that is the best approach. I was hoping there
was a plugin that let you connect to a database and run real-time queries
and then us a macro to wiki-fy the results, but I didn't find anything like
that.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Hello,
i created a page with a few xwiki code inside it. I can display this page without troubles. I also created a side panel that does simply include that pages. The side panel gives me a macro error
org.xwiki.rendering.macro.MacroExecutionException: You don't have the right to execute this script while the main page display without errors :s
as suggested here
http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Groovy-macro-in-a-panel-td7346045.html
i tried to remove the dropPermissions() but it doesn't work.
What is the solution? Do i have to put my groovy code inside a macros and use the macro in panel instead of including a document containing the code?

Hello,
i have a custom object class + a from and "new" button. When i create an object, using the following code
{{groovy}}
if(request.doCreate == "true"){
// Request for creating a new instance
obj= doc.newObject("Main.NewsClass")
obj.set("linkfr",request.thelien)
obj.set("titlefr","a test")
obj.set("linknl",request.thelink)
obj.set("titlenl",request.thetijtle)
obj.set("publication",request.thedate)
doc.save()
}
{{/groovy}}
the object is created but form properties not saved (please not i hardcoded "a test" and even this property is not saved). Instead i obtain an object with properties all empty. If i remove the calls to set(name, value), the object is saved without properties instead of empty one, so code is somehow partially working?
Does someone have any suggestion?

Hello
Could u please tell me if it is possible when a user registers not to
be redirected on main space webhome but a specific space instead.
thank you
i have a brand new XWiki 4.1 install
I don't have any xwiki 1.0 documents
So i put this configuration:
xwiki.rendering.syntaxes = xwiki/2.1, creole/1.0, html/4.01
When i edit the page,., it offer me those formats PLUS xwiki/1.0
Why ? How can i really disable it ?
---
I thought that XWiki is largely markup-agniostic...
Is GUI editor really uncapable of creole markup ?

Hi devs and community at large,
Every year XWiki SAS (http://xwiki.com) gathers all its employees for a Seminar and every year we have an internal hackathon.
For example here are the results of last year:
http://www.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Company/Hackathon2011
Previously the Hackathon was a 1 day event only. However this year we're changing the format; it'll run for 8 days! :)
Thus we thought it could be a good idea to invite the XWiki Community to join us for a mega distributed Hackathon!
So here's how I think we could organize it:
* Start date: 20th of July. A mail will be posted on this day to announce the start
* End date: 27th of July. A mail will be posted on this day to announce the end
* Gathering results: from 28th to 6th of August. Everyone who participated should reply to the end of hackathon mail with what they did and post their stuff on http://extensions.xwiki.org or elsewhere
* On around the 6th of August we'll have a blog post written on xwiki.org summarizing all that was done by everyone
Those who have participated will also get XWiki T-Shirts.
Anyone interested in joining the fun?
Thanks
-Vincent
