Hi, Sorin,
This bug was reproduced by many customers, they couldn't find LogOut link, that was the reason of investigation :-)
I recommended to start from cache clearance, it was useless.
Actually it works, all menus are in right places, but invisible.
It was XWiki 3.4 on server under Centos and Tomcat.
I made the same test with Windows standalone XWiki. The results you can see at image attached (not logged in).
Just unpack zip, run XWiki and load default Main Page.
BUT, If you will compare with LOGIN page, it works correctly somehow. To get this page working, you have to uncheck the right of unregistered users to view page and restrict access to any page regardless to rights.
After logout you would see correct page (see image).
IE is a mysterious creature. :-)
By the way, this bug was reported also in IE 8 :-(
Hope it helps,
Kind regards,
Dmitry

Hello Haru,
I have tried a XE 3.4 final on Windows + IE9 and it worked.
I have cleared the cache, and both compatibility mode and normal mode worked for me. I can see the logout button also.
Can you give more details about your problem ? Or maybe exact steps to reproduce.
Regards,
Sorin B.

Hello everybody!
How is it possible to use DateTime Picker from AppWithinMinutes Application
on demand? For example - inside application, created based on old sheet
system?
I checked code AppWithinMinutes - I founded page Date and this page includes
related javasript extention. But I cannon understand how I can use it. I
tried to write jsx.use... and ssx.use... inside my sheet - but without
result - calendar picker didn't show.

Hello,
I recently tried upgrading a lightly used wiki to Enterprise 3.4. The
initial problem I ran in to was complaining about long. I was able to find
several google items on this and by extracting xwiki.hbm.xml was able to
get beyond this.
However trying to import svn.xva, I get: PSQLException: ERROR: column
"xwa_content" is of type bytea but expression is of type bigint Hint: You
will need to rewrite or cast the expression. Position: 67
I have tried with the original 8.2 postgres but also with 8.4 and the
latest stable jdbc driver. Google only gave me one hit on this and there
the issue wasn't solved.
Any thoughts?
Thanks - Bryan.
Hi All,
in the administration search configuration i see two options for *Search
engine to use* i.e Lucene and database. Could anyone brief which one is
better(probably advantages/disadvantages)? and what changes i need to do as
administrator/developer if i want to switch from one option to another?
i am using xwiki as wiki website for my banking application. i provided a
link AppHelp on my application web page. I click this link and it takes me
to xwiki
application hosted on another tomcat instance. So i get in to
MyAuthServiceImpl as i have given the value of
xwiki.authentication.authclass=com.xpn.xwiki.user.impl.xwiki.MyAuthServiceImpl
in xwiki.cfg. Inside this class i set
xwikiContext.getRequest().getHttpServletRequest().setAttrrbute("customerType","permanent")
and see my wiki welcome page. But now if i do any activity like click on
link anywhere on wiki wapplication,i dont get the value of
xwikiContext.getRequest().getHttpServletRequest().getAttrrbute("customerType").
I am sure there must be some way i can configure it from admin user
credentials probably in velocity macros and send it as part of request
every time.
I need it as part of request only not in session.
Hi All,
I am trying to set the permissions of a page. I can't seem to find the
place to do that. I only see Administer Xwiki/Adminster Space but no
Administer page. Is there a way to enable rights for a page?
Hi,
I create livetables with doc.title as a column. By default, this
column does not show as filterable. When I force filtering by
"filterable:true", I can type in this field but nothing shows up as
result.
The property doc.name can be used and filtered as expected.
I have created an example:
http://playground.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Sandbox/Livetable
Should I report his as a bug or did I overlook something?
Hey,
this is my first post and i hope to nothing wrong.
I know that ther is a macro for linking up a video in xwiki-sides from other sources like youtube or something else.
But how can i put my own video (.avi, .mpeg, etc.) on a wiki side by using the attachment selection?
I've tried to put it with some html-code with <embed... but that won't work.
Thanks for your help!!!

Hi,
In documents based on a certain class I need to list the attachments of the document. I used the 'List attachments of a page'-snippet from http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/velocityHqlExamples in the class sheet. This works perfectly fine as long as the document is saved by a user with programming rights. When saved by a normal user it doesn't work, as the priviledged API is used. Is there some workaround or solution for this?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a date field in a class that I want to default to the day of creation. I have set empty is today to 1 and thought that would do it. But it seems this set's the date to the creation date of the class rather than to that of new objects.
Any advice appreciated!

Hello List,
I am aware of the fact that I am able to configure the Tab Cloud to display
either all tags of the Wiki or just of one single space. Now my question: is
there a possibility to configure the cloud to display tags of a selection of
spaces? Goal of this practice is to display only tags of the spaces the user
has access rights for.
Thanks in advance..

Hi,
Does anyone know which macros I might need to edit to update to add a new
menu option in the WYSIWYG editor to the Link menu say called "Link to file"
and then display a "Link To File" dialog pane with a browser to allow a user
to browse to a file on a network drive and select in and then insert a link
to the file in the wiki page?
Thanks.

Hey,
i'm trying to create an automatic email notification, but the e-mail sending by using html is not realy helpful.
There is a html fragment for email sending, but you have to push the "send" button in order to send the mail.
Is it possible to create a class with a field 'status' that has something like 'in progress' and as long as this status is set, there is a daily, weekly email send to a list of users (list of groups in xwiki/property static list of users)???
There is a "Send Page by email App" but its also not automatic.
I'm searching for an automatic email notification that uses the email of the users xwiki account.
Thanks for your help!!!
Greats

Hello,
i'm new to xwiki and tried to find an answer, but didn't succeed.
I would like to know how i can define a redirecting like it's common in
Wikipedia. For example if you type in "H2O" it redirects you to the page
"water". In Wikipedia you create a page named "H2O" and the only content
is #REDIRECT [[Water]].
I searched for this topic on the xwiki pages, but couldn't find the
syntax for this. I'm sure it's a minor problem but i would be glad if
someone could help.
Thanks in advance,
resi.

Hi All,
I asked the below query log time before but have not got any inputs.
I would be grateful if you folks have any idea about below
configuration. let me know if it is possible to configure this kind
of feature in xwiki in any version?
i want to give rights in a way so that the users in a certain group
should be able search the users of a certain group.
For example i have 3 groups G1,G2,G3 . G1 contains user U1,G2 contains
user U2 and G3 contains user U3. Now i want to give the the group 1
users rights in a way so that they should be able to search the G1 and
G2 users only but not G3 users.Thanks
Under the presentation section of look and feel, i see skin as
XWiki.DefaultSkin and DEFAULT STYLESHEET as style.css.
If i want to replace both of these with my customized skin and
stylesheet, how should i go about this?
where should i put my both these new docs?
Hi All,
i am logged in as admin user who has all possible rights at wiki
administration level . i have a space with the name MySpace. Now i created
the page AppPage1 by mistake.
i want to delete this page. But when i go for deletion , it gives me the
message Are you sure you wish to move this document to the recycle bin? i
clicked yes but then it
gives the some run time error saying

Complete stack trace is attached with this mail. I have tried my level best
to delete this page but everytime it gives me the same error . I am not
getting how to delete this page.
Below is the statement given at
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Access+Rights
A programmer is allowed to execute arbitrary java code in the wiki and
can thus gain control of the system user which the wiki is
running under.
Could you give me some example how xwiki admin can modify existing
java class. when it will be compile and deployed?
Assume i want to add a new method in XWikiAuthServiceImpl.java . How
should i go with this provided i am having programming
rights.Thanks.
Hello everyone,
I have a livetable build like every livetable :
#livetable("allapps" $collist $ colprops $options)
My livetable is build using a class and one of the field of this class is
"state".
This field can have three value : "new", "in progress", "closed".
I want to put a background color for each line depending of this field
"state".
I want the background colors like this :
- "new" -> background color = green
- "in progress" -> background color = orange
- "closed" -> background color = red
Is there a possibility to define this somewhere ? And if yes, where exactly
? In the options of my livetable ?
I hope this possibility exists because I really need it.
Have a good day,
Stéphanie

Hi, All,
As we have now workspaces in addition to virtual spaces, it looks logic to provide following scenario in UI of WYSIWYG editor:
select virtual wiki/workspace -> Space -> Page -> Anchor
It would help much in multiworkspace environment. Is it difficult to implement?
Please, vote if it looks useful for you at http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XEM-209

Hi Eduard,
Thanks for explnation. I'm very happy to issue a "new idea", but idea itself is a bit wider and deeper, then described below. I would like to point out some reasons and effects to be more clear before "jiraing" it :-)
"Security leak" XE/XEM Usecase
XE/XEM + Workspace Manager. One main Wiki and let's say, hundreds of workspaces. To be more real we'd add Wiki Manager and tens of virtual wikis running on the same engine (something like XWiki.com running)
As my humble experience shows, nearly never in natural way XWiki would have only one User with Admin Rights on the Wiki level.
It's human to be all the time in a hurry and meanwhile XWiki becomes messy inside. It's not the big problem yet. :-)
As an Admin User on wiki level, I can easily gain programming rights. For now, it's completely uncontrolled and will run unnoticed.
So, let's imagine that all stars in solar system lined up in a bad way and one Admin became an AngryAdmin with a revenge as a primary goal of life. Let's make it even worth: AngryAdmin knows XWiki quite good and scripting for him is an open book. To make it more real: AngryAdmin doesn't have root access to the server. :-)
At this stage he has all necessary knowledge and access rights to ruin ALL WIKIs onboard. I didn't dig much in it, but if Workspace Manager has appropriate tools, then it's possible: one short script and it's over :-)
I didn't met such occasions before, but heard a lot of similar usecases (not with XWiki :-)
Thus, I NEVER run production on MAIN wiki!
It looks dangerous for me. I'd better be paranoic admin rather embarrased admin. If somebody will become an "angry-beaver-admin", he would be able to ruin only one space (now he has a front-end tool for this :-)) or more, but only inside one project and all running wikis will stay alive. Such workflow keeps my paranoia quiet :-)
SO, at last "new idea": escape MAIN WIKI from production completely.
As only global users has programming rights, it looks very logic to leave Main Wiki to "Core and instances" management and keep it safe from local admins. When U have a lot of users it sounds reasonable for me.
Let's return to our Case 1-3 described below. The most flexible solution looks as following:
| virtual wiki 1 -> workspaces
| virtual wiki 2 -> workspaces -> workspaces (probably)
Main Wiki | ..................................................
| virtual wiki N - "Solo" - No Workspace Manager onboard
(administration) (production)
Such a way we can run everything simultaneously on the same server. No need to run a lot of instances.
If someone want's programming rights, he could be isolated locally and won't affect other wikis. Looks safe for me.
Bad news:
- Nobody, besides MySQL users would be happy, XEM is MySQL dependent still :-(
So, before I'd "jira" an idea, I'd like to know community opinion to keep it comprehensive.
Hope, it would be nice idea for 4.0 roadmap to think over :-)
Best Regards,
Dmitry

Hello again,

Thanks a lot for clarification.
It makes sence now from explained point of view, but I still can't get WHY as global user on NON-workspace wiki I should see Workspace Manager menus?
As I tried to explain in my previous mail, the idea is that you are a global user, coming from a global context (the main wiki). In that global context, you have the Workspace application installed and available for you to use. This means that, the Workspace
application offers you the possibility to create a new workspace, jump to the main wiki or view existing workspaces trough the top-menu.
From the Workspace application's point of view, it is only natural to allow you to perform these actions, regardless of your current location (that means even if you are viewing a non-workspace subwiki). As long as the Workspace application is installed, it will perform as designed :)
Anyhow I can't use Workspace Manager INSIDE virtual Wiki. It makes sence if you would extend Workspace manager and make it completely independent on each and every virtual wiki.
So, the main reason why: it's just useles inside virtual wiki (for now)
Again, the extra menus are not about what you can do on the current wiki, but they are about what you can do on the whole XWiki, since this is a feature that spans cross wikis and is not restricted to an individual wiki (even if it is installed on the main wiki).
For me, e.g., ideal workflow looks like:
Case 1. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated, no Workspace Manager on board
This is perfectly doable right now. If you think about the reasons for which you are creating a regular subwiki and not a workspace, you`ll notice that the main one is that you want local users. But since local users do not see any extra menus, you are good to go. Only you, as a global user (or admin) will see those menus, but that is just because the main wiki is offering you this possibility (since you are its member).
Case 2. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated, WITH Workspace Manager on board. Each virtual wiki in this case will be able to produce it's own workspaces isolated from each other (like independent projects on the same server). Only Local Users can take part in workspace management.
As you might already know, XWiki currently supports only *one level* of virtualisation and only one main wiki. You can not currently create a subwiki within a subwiki, not even with the WikiManager application. This means that you can not do this with Workspaces either.
If you wish to obtain this scenario, you will have to set up multiple instances of XWiki.
Having a subwiki within another subwiki might be an interesting new feature for the WikiManager application (and for Workspaces too). Please feel free to add a new feature request on jira.xwiki.org for the WikiManager component.
Case 3. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated + Workspace manager on board. Same as Case 2, but Local Users can log once in any virtual/workspace wiki they allowed AND via this login have access to each and every wiki they registered/invited.
If I understand correctly, this usecase would imply that local users (created in regular subwikis or, specifically for your case, in subwikis of subwikis) have a mechanism that allows them to escape from the isolation of the current subwiki of which they are part of and gain access to other subwikis or workspaces.
Maybe you could do this by promoting the local user as a global user, optionally putting him in a special group to better manage rights. This way he/she can create/join workspaces and join other wikis.
For current purposes I would prefer Case 1 behaviour. Soon I'd like to use Case 2 then 3 scenario, but for now - no way :-(
Hope it would be useful for futher development.
Yes, as I said, having subwikis within subwikis is a good idea that might actually be not so hard to implement (as far as Thomas tells me).
Hope this helped.
Thanks,
Eduard

Dmitry

Oh, I see now.
The way it works now when visiting a normal subwiki (not a workspace) is that:
1) If you are a global user (user of the main wiki), the menus will be displayed to you (and you will be thus exposed to the global context of which you are part of).
2) If you are a local user (user of a subwiki that is part of a wiki *farm*), you don`t see the menus any more and are isolated inside the wiki (and not exposed to the global context).
So, as a conclusion, the menus appear to you based on your user type and not on the type of wiki you are currently viewing.
Does that make sense now? Does this fit your usecase? If not, can you please elaborate on the reason why you would like global users not to be able to see the global context when viewing a regular subwiki?
Thanks,
Eduard

So, I set up XEM, installed Workspace manager to play around AND with Wiki Manager created virtual Wiki.
Now I completely stuck how to get rid of all Workspace Manager links in wiki farm (!) (not workspaces). I would prefer to keep running Workspace Manager on main Wiki AND Wiki farm simultaneously, if possible.
Is there any simple solution?
The only thing I suppose should work is to take *.vm files from XE and attach them to the skin file. Looks wierd and unpredictable for me :-(

Hi Dmitry,
Starting with 3.3, XEM has moved the main usecase for subwikis from farm to workspaces. This means that, additionally to the WikiManager application [1], now XEM also contains the Workspace Application [2].
The encouraged way of for creating a wiki farm right now (if that is really what you need) is to get XE, install WikiManager [1] and create your farm.
If you *insist* on using XEM for creating a wiki farm, all you have to do is delete the WorkspaceManager space, thus removing the Workspaces application and disabling the extra menus that were getting in your way. Additionally, you should also remove the xwiki-platform-workspace-api-<version>.jar file from the /webapps/xwiki/WEB-INF/lib/ folder, since you don`t want to use it anymore and you have removed the UI.
However, if your plan is to have global users that work on different subwikis (like an intranet with departments mapped to subwikis or a place where you work on projects mapped to subwikis, etc.), you might reconsider using Workspaces.
In any case, I hope this solves your problem.
Thanks,
Eduard

I'm not sure if this is possible in the current configuration:
My issue is this:
A (anonymous) user can see tags used only in 'private' pages, e.g.
pages the current user has no view acces to.
If he clicks a tag, he can see the page
"Tags?do=viewTag&tag=DeadlyIncidents" showing him no pages with this
tag.
The problem is threefold:
- The tagcloud is cluttered with tags that are of no use to the current user
- The user can become confused if he tries to look for a page with that tag
- Information existing in a page is leaked. A tag is just a tag, but
it can tells something about information on one or more pages.
In my opinion, the user should only be able to see tags that are used
in pages he has view right to.
I can imagine it would put a heavy load on a system to check for every
tag if it's used in viewable pages, though.
Any thoughts?
Sincerily, Joris
Hi.
I'm trying to write a set of procedures in xwiki. Something like:
1. Add the LDOM to the lab dhcp tables.
{{code}}blah{{/code}}
2. ssh to the system
{{code}}blah{{/code}}
I tried using:
1. Add the LDOM
1. ssh to the system
But, it saw these as different numbered lists.
Is there a standard/preferred way of writing procedures in xwiki?
Maybe using groupings {{{ }}}?
Thanks.
Are these bugs in XE 3.4? When I create a new class and then objects of
that class, the page title is the name of the class sheet, not the name
I entered for the page (which is what I'd expect and what you'd see in
earlier versions such as XE 3.1). I call this BUG 2 in the steps to
reproduce, below. While we're at it, there is also what I call BUG 1 in
the steps below, where it appears the name of the class does not show up
in the "bread crumbs" trail (or whatever you call that) at the top of
the page.
Steps to reproduce:
1.Log in as Administrator
2.Go to /Data types/ page
(http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/XWikiClasses)
3.Enter class name /TitleTest/ and click /Create This Class/; (system
shows an edit page)
4.Click /Save & View/; (system shows the class page)
5.Click on /class editor/ link; (system shows editing class page)
6.Enter property name /aString/ with type /String/ and click /ADD/ button
7.Click /Save & View/
8.*BUG 1*: Note that at top of page, says Wiki Home >> XWiki Space >>
Data Types >> (blank).Shouldn't there be the class name here?)
9.Click /Create the Document Sheet/
10.Click /Bind the sheet to the class/
11.Click /Create the Class Template/
12.Click /Add a TitleTest object to the template/
13.Under /Create a new document/, enter Document name /TestDoc1/ and
click /Create this Document/
14.Enter the value /some value/ for the /aString/ property and click
/Save & View/
15.*BUG 2*(?): Note that the largest text on the page is /TitleTestClass
Sheet/ --shouldn't this be the page name we used to create the new
document, the same name that is at the end of the URL
(http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/TestDoc1), which is TestDoc1??
16.Click /Edit > Wiki/, and enter the title /TestDoc1/ and click /Save &
View/.
17.Note that the largest text on the page still says /TitleTestClass
Sheet/ --shouldn't this be the title we just entered??

Yes, I did. :-(
XEM 3.4
javax.servlet.ServletException: com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 3 in 0: Could not initialize main XWiki context
Wrapped Exception: Error number 3202 in 3: Exception while reading document [name = [XWikiPreferences], type = [DOCUMENT], parent = [name = [XWiki], type = [SPACE], parent = [name = [xwiki], type = [WIKI], parent = [null]]]]
Wrapped Exception: Error number 3301 in 3: Exception while switching to database xwiki
Wrapped Exception: Access denied for user 'test'@'localhost' to database 'xwiki'
And actually there is no DB xwiki in Mysql. Xwiki is completely right.
The rest settings in xwiki.cfg are intact.
Kind regards
Dmitry

Hi, All!
Does anyone know, is it possible to change default DB name xwiki to smth else?
I changed in config.cfg,
xwiki.db=test
in hibernate.cfg.xml
<property name="connection.url">jdbc:mysql://localhost/test</property>
After XWiki reload it tries to access xwiki db still. :-(
What is correct way to do it?
Thanks in advance,
Dmitry
Hi,
In order to customize WYSIWYSG editor only on some pages I have made
following changes in wysiwyg_storeConfig macro:
#macro(wysiwyg_storeConfig $parameters $editedDocument $fieldId $full)
...
#if($xcontext.contains('wysiwyg_overriding_parameters'))
#set($ok =
$parameters.putAll($xcontext.putAll('wysiwyg_overriding_parameters')))
#end
...
#end
Part of sheet for these pages looks like this:
#set($overriding_parameters = $util.hashMap)
#set($ok = $overriding_parameters.put('plugins', ...))
#set($ok = $overriding_parameters.put('menu', ...))
#set($ok = $overriding_parameters.put('toolbar', ...))
#set($ok = $xcontext.put('wysiwyg_overriding_parameters',
$overriding_parameters))
This is good enough for editors on previously created pages. Editors
look (in inline mode) just the way I want. But, on new pages editors
always use default configuration.
To test these unexpected result I added following two lines in the sheet:
#set($ok = $xcontext.put('foo', 'bar'))
$xcontext.get('foo')
On new pages $xcontext.get('foo') is displayed, and on existing ones it
is bar.
(Version 3.1)
Thanks,
Ozren
Thanks a lot for clarification.
It makes sence now from explained point of view, but I still can't get WHY as global user on NON-workspace wiki I should see Workspace Manager menus? Anyhow I can't use Workspace Manager INSIDE virtual Wiki. It makes sence if you would extend Workspace manager and make it completely independent on each and every virtual wiki.
So, the main reason why: it's just useles inside virtual wiki (for now)
For me, e.g., ideal workflow looks like:
Case 1. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated, no Workspace Manager on board
Case 2. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated, WITH Workspace Manager on board. Each virtual wiki in this case will be able to produce it's own workspaces isolated from each other (like independent projects on the same server). Only Local Users can take part in workspace management.
Case 3. XEM -> virtual wiki isolated + Workspace manager on board. Same as Case 2, but Local Users can log once in any virtual/workspace wiki they allowed AND via this login have access to each and every wiki they registered/invited.
For current purposes I would prefer Case 1 behaviour. Soon I'd like to use Case 2 then 3 scenario, but for now - no way :-(
Hope it would be useful for futher development.
Kind Regards,

Thanks,
Eduard

Thank you Eduard,
Sorry, probably I wasn't clear in my questions...
- I want to use WORKSPACE Manager on MAIN Wiki and manage them as designed.
- BUT, the same time I want to use WIKI Manager to have completely independent from main wiki and other workspaces virtual wikis.
Looks wierd and unpredictable for me :-(
Kind Regards,
Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,
Starting with 3.3, XEM has moved the main usecase for subwikis from farm to workspaces.
Thanks,
Eduard

Hi All,
I am trying to upgrade our existing xwiki implementation of version 3.1 to
3.4 and I am running into an error when attempting to start up the server.
Environment:
1. OS: Redhat Linux
2. Container: Jboss 5.1
3. DB: Hypersonic
At this point, I am just tying to get it to launch with the out-of-the-box
configurations (no customization).
Below is the stack dump I am receiving:

Thank you Eduard,
Sorry, probably I wasn't clear in my questions...
- I want to use WORKSPACE Manager on MAIN Wiki and manage them as designed.
- BUT, the same time I want to use WIKI Manager to have completely independent from main wiki and other workspaces virtual wikis.
Looks wierd and unpredictable for me :-(
Kind Regards,
Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,
Starting with 3.3, XEM has moved the main usecase for subwikis from farm to workspaces.
Thanks,
Eduard

Ooops, wrong solution. The problem is still active: is there a right way to get rid of Workspace Manager's links in virtual wikis in 3.4?

Hi All,
By accident I found a soluion. For me it looks a bit wierd.
If you set in xwiki.cfg xwiki.virtual.usepath to 0, then all menus become Workspace Manager links free.
For now, if I want to use usepath and don't want to use Workspace Manager, there is no an "one click solution" :-(
Is it a bug or it's a feature? Should I report it?
Kind regards,
Dmitry

Hi. all!
XEM 3.4. Main Wiki works fine.
I want to set up virtual wiki without Workspace Manager application inside and it's links in menu, because as far as I inderstood it is useless in virtual wikis.
What is right way to get rid of Workspace Manager and it's links in top menu in virtual wiki?
Kind regards,
Dmitry
Hi xwikiers,
I just add clustering support which was the last big peace of
framework that was blocking a first fully functional version of
Extension Manager.
I will now dedicate my time to write tests and fix bugs and small
improvements I find and try to fix some UI bugs too if Sergiu does not
have time.
I also have some improvement work in XWiki Repository and finally make
extension.xwiki.org fully based on standard XWiki Repository and not
have custom version anymore.
During the 3.5 and 4.0 timeframe it would be nice to get as much tests
and reports as possible on what is not working or still blocker in
term or usability so that we get a nice and strong first version we
can advertise in 4.0.
There is obviously lots of possible improvements some of which you can
find on http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/ExtensionManager
(and I need to add more things in there) but I would like to limit to
a fully working minimum for 4.0 and then do a priority survey on the
many new features and improvements ideas.
Here are the grey areas I know about and on which I'm going to
concentrate on writing tests:
* automatic xar merging is a quick implementation not excessively
tested. Also the string properties content merging is not able to
merge modification done on the same line which is not nice when things
like the title is customized in the wiki and also changed in the new
version of the xar. Right now in doubt the merge always take the new
version when there is a conflict so that nothing is lost since it's
easy to get back the previous version from the history. Also I'm not
going to have time to work on a real manual conflict resolution UI for
this timeframe, not alone at least.
* clustering is a bit young ;) Also it expect all members to have the
exact same constraints, if for any reason an extension is installed to
a member and fail on another it could create quite a mess if that's an
important extension.
* it's not very hard to add versions and dependencies in XWiki
Repository but it require using object editor which is not very nice
for all profiles of users (now it's generally done by the developer of
the extension so not a basic user either). Will try to work on that if
I have some time left.
Thanks,

Still can't open the attachments using WebDAV in Windows Explorer - can see
the files BUT there's no Open menu option when I right click them.
Have tried goggling this but haven't yet found anything on why this is or
how to enable it so can open the attachment .... Anyone any idea what to
do???

The solution we propose for this is WebDAV (search xwiki.org on webdav).
Mount your wiki as a webdav driver.
This allows you to see the attachments for example.
Work in your favorite editor for those attachments.
When you save in your editor the attachment is updated remotely.
The only possible issue is with concurrent locking. It's possible that if
one has the lock others will only be able to open the attachment in read
only. To be tested. Let us know!
Thanks

Hi,
Managers and other users at my company like to update excel spreadsheets on
work progress. These spreadsheets get updated quite frequently by many users
so attaching them to the wiki isn't so practical because of the overhead of
checking checking the attachments in and out.
So I'd like to make it easier for managers to put in links to these
spreadsheets from a wiki page: So the users can (from the wiki WYSIWYG
editor) browse to the spreadsheet files and insert them without having to
workout the syntax e.g. file:// and the network drive, etc.
How might I go about editing/adding macros to do this?
Thanks.

Richard

Hi.
Could anyone, please, give any info about status of filesystem
attachment storage?
Is it stable? Does it deal with non-ascii filenames prolerply?
If so - why in 3.4 versions default storage for attachments will be
hibernate?
Cheers,
R.

Thanks - tried the bug but didn't seem to work - tried editing the object

Is this fixed in the next release??

You probably hit http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-7121 . Besides the fix
specified in the comment you can edit directly in object mode the page
holding the WYSIWYG editor configuration, XWiki.WysiwygEditorConfig, and
change the configuration.
Hope this helps,

Yes. Either through wiki syntax
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/XWikiSyntax#HParameters
or through the WYSIWYG editor
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/WysiwygEditor#HTextFormatt

. For the later option you need to activate some WYSIWYG editor plugins

dFeatures
for the full list) from the administration and add some features on the
WYSIWYG editor tool bar (e.g. fontname or forecolor).

Hi!
The task is:
- Calculate MD5 of attached PDF document
- Extract e.g first 10 pages from the attached PDF file as images
- store images as attachments into the document
1. What is the best way to calculate MD5 in XWiki? Is it possible to do via standard velocity scripting in XWiki?
2. Is there any built in/hidden ways of PDF->image conversion of several pages of attached PDF file?
If not, what is the solution possible? I found some opensource JAVA libraries, but I realize a big gap in my understanding between libraries and their integration in XWiki with followng velocity scripting usage.
Does anyone has a clue where to dig to make all this staff runnung?
Thanks in advance,
Dmitry
Hi All,
I have question regarding search functionality i want to give rights
in a way so that the users in a certain group should be able search
the users of a certain group.
For example i have 3 groups G1,G2,G3 . G1 contains user U1,G2 contains
user U2 and G3 contains user U3. Now i want to give the the group 1
users rights in a way so that
they should be able to search the G1 and G2 users only but not G3 users.
I know we can customize the rights of specific group user for a
specific space but what about above feature? Is it configurable?
Thanks .
Hello everyone,
I have a livetable build like every livetable :
#livetable("allapps" $collist $ colprops $options)
My livetable is built using a class and one of the field of this class is
"state".
This field can have three value : "new", "in progress", "closed".
I want to put a background color for each line depending of this field
"state".
I want the background colors like this :
- "new" -> background color = green
- "in progress" -> background color = orange
- "closed" -> background color = red
Is there a possibility to define this somewhere ? And if yes, where exactly
? In the options of my livetable ?
I hope this possibility exists because I really need it.
Have a good day,
Stéphanie

log4j.logger.com.xpn.xwiki.plugin.ldap=trace

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of
XWiki Commons, XWiki Rendering, XWiki Platform, XWiki Enterprise and
XWiki Enterprise Manager 3.2.1.
This is the first and probably last bugfix release of the 3.2 series,
with no new features, and a few bugfixes and minor improvements. One
important change is the way relative references in an included document
are resolved, reverting back to the pre-3.0 behavior. See
http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-7382 for more details.
Other areas with several bugfixes are support for Oracle databases, the
rending engine, the WYSIWYG editor, and the Activity Stream.
See the full release notes at
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise321
for more details.
Note: The binaries for this release aren't listed on the Download page,
but they can be obtained directly from our maven repository [1] or the
OW2 forge download area [2].

Hi All,
We are very pleased to inform you that we packaged our map solution,
Just Map It!, as a XWiki extension.
This extension shows an interactive map of wiki pages and tags for any
XWiki space.
It is divided in 2 components :
- a REST addon that exposes the wiki pages and tags of a given XWiki
space
- a xar package that contains a velocity macro and the Just Map It!
flash client.
The map is generated on a dedicated Just Map It! server, which get the
necessary data by calling the REST service installed by the extension.
We worked with the Xwiki team on a snapshot of the xwiki.org extension
website (http://extensions.xwiki.org)
A demo is available at http://dev.social-computing.com:8280/xwiki/
An authentication is required :
- login : demo
- password : scdemo
This demo displays a map of all available xwiki extensions linked by the
tags that were assigned by extensions developers.
It gives a good overview of all existing extensions and the relations
between these extensions.
Additional navigation actions are proposed to the users on the map :
- Center on one particular item
- Show all the extensions that contain a specific tag
- Display the wiki page of an extension or a tag
Another map is generated on a each tag's wiki page.
This map shows the tags that are close to the selected one.
We would very much appreciate your feedbacks and advice on how to make
the map available to all xwiki.org users on the extensions website.

The XWiki development team is proud to announce the availability of
XWiki Commons, XWiki Rendering, XWiki Platform, XWiki Enterprise and
XWiki Enterprise Manager 3.3.1.
This is the first and probably last bugfix release of the 3.3 series,
with no new features, and a few bugfixes and minor improvements. One
important change is the way relative references in an included document
are resolved, reverting back to the pre-3.0 behavior. See
http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-7382 for more details.
Other areas with several bugfixes are the workspaces functionality, the
Debian installer, the extension manager, cache management, and App
Within Minutes.
See the full release notes at
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise331
for more details.

The XWR_COMMENT column is only 255 characters; however, xwiki is trying to assign to this column the text:

Either the comments needs to be truncated, or the column should be defined as a CLOB.
It turns out that the annotation is saved -- when the page is reloaded, the text is highlighted and the annotation text is available.

Hi,
I have just tried to get my Xwiki version updated from 3.1.1 to 3.3.
For some reason as I've posted about I had major errors in the upgrade
process from 2.x over to 3.1.1 as my admin panel went funny after the
upgrade.
Now in my attempt Tomcat's log shows this:

Hi XWiki users,
In 2009 we ran a survey on xwiki.org asking you to vote on features you'd like to see implemented in the XWiki project.
2.5 years after, here's a rundown of how many of those were actually implemented and what's left to do.
Since we're finishing the XWiki Enterprise 3.x cycle (XE 3.5 will be the last release of this cycle) we're going to start deciding what the 4.x cycle will contain. The idea is to run a new survey on xwiki.org asking you again to vote on features you'd like to see. This survey should be published in a few days. I'll send another mail when it is.
So here are the results:
http://bit.ly/yjDPge
As you can see roughly 50% of the features were implemented in 2.5 years. It's both good and bad. There were a lot of features asked (close to 100). We also implemented a lot more other features that were not listed. At least you can see we're listening since a lot of features that made it were features asked! :) Of course we can always do better.
For example we missed the implementation of the multipage export even though we spent a substantial time designing it and discussing it on the list. Let's hope it can make it in the 4.x cycle now!
Feel free to let us know in this thread how you feel about what was implemented and what you'd like to see in the 4.x cycle.
Thanks a lot

Hello Everyone-
I have two basic requests that I need help on.
I have installed xwiki (war file) on Jboss app server and made LDAP
authentication for editing purposes.
(1) How can I add additional layer of security for certain pages only for a
specific LDAP sub-group (security group).
(2) What do I need to do to have the capability of importing MS Office
documents directly into Xwiki. It is error out stating Open Office Plug-in
server is not running. I do have Open Office installed and updated the
config file.
Greatly appreciate the help!
Let me explain you.
1) We have a "MyTests.TestClass" class which contains a unique field "date"
of type "date".
2) The current document have a single object of type "MyTests.TestClass".
You can set whatever you want for the value of the field "date".
3) The current document code is:
{{velocity}}
= History =
#set($revs = $doc.getRecentRevisions(10))
#foreach($rev in $revs)
#set($oldDoc = $doc.getDocumentRevision($rev))
#set($prop =
$oldDoc.getObject('MyTests.TestClass').getProperty('date').getValue())
== Rev : $rev ==
* Class: $prop.class.name
* Value : $prop
#end
= End History =
{{/velocity}}
4) Do some edit in order to have something to display in the history
5) Here are my results:
History
Rev : 17.1
Class: java.sql.Timestamp
Value : 2012-12-10 00:00:00.0
Rev : 16.1
Class: java.util.Date
Value : Mon Dec 10 00:00:00 CET 2012
Rev : 15.1
Class: java.util.Date
Value : Mon Dec 10 00:00:00 CET 2012
6) The problem is that the field "date" is a java.sql.Timestamp for the
current version but then become a java.util.Date.
Is it normal ?
Turns out all my wiki problems with disappeared attachment, scripts not
running, etc were down to partition /var running out of disk space! So moved
default locations of apache tomcat and mysql to a much bigger partition
using symbolic links to link to the new locations and now all seems well.
Should have checked the obvious (disk space) first! So if anyone else gets
strange behaviour with xwiki - check your disk space first and save yourself
a lot of time and hassle chasing down these 'problems'!

Yes its strange,
This has happened since migrating from version 2.7 to 3.2. The import of the
wiki pages via Exported xar files seemed to work ok, and the attachments are
listed at the bottom of the wiki pages, butwhen you cick on them to view the
attachments the wiki displays aa error message that the "The attachment does
not exist."
Has anyone any idea what's happened and how to fix it?
Thanks.

Richard

Hi Richard,
Are you talking about the standard Attachments tab at the bottom of a wiki
page? Does it happen all the time? You should get this only if the session
expires. See
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise
32#HCSRFpreventionisenabledbydefault
. In XWiki Enterprise 3.2 CSRF has been enabled by default. I haven't heard
any complains so far, at least not related to the attachments upload form.
Hope this helps,
Marius

Hello everyone,
I use the xwiki syntax for sending mails, by using this way :
[[john(a)smith.net>>mailto:john@smith.net]]
But I was wondering if there is a possibility to add an object on the mail
by this way and how is it possible ?
Thank you for your future answer.
Have a good day,
Stéphanie

Hi All,
I am having an odd issue with the panel wizard in my test and prod
instances of XWiki. The users are trying to click on "Panel Wizard" via
"Administer this Wiki" and the system spikes to 25% CPU but never yields
results. Later, they try again, another 25% CPU and no results....
ultimately they keep trying until I start getting administrative alerts
that the system is overwhelmed. To recover, I need to stop/start the
application. However, that only allows the application to function until
they do the same thing again. This is a critical task for them to add the
necessary navigation to their wiki.
Anyone had a similar experience?
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further?
Thanks,
Chris
Thanks - turns out unregistered user weren't granted rights on the actual
page itself.

Hello Richard,
In XWiki there are 3 types of Rights/Permissions. Check
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/RightsManagement
My guess is that in the Global Rights Menu (found in Administration ->
Rights) you have selected the "Prevent unregistered users from viewing
pages, regardless of the page or space rights". You have to uncheck this box
(no check mark).
This should solve your issue

Hi,
Anyone know why when I try to display the wiki webhome for the Main space
for an unregistered user the login is displayed even though the space rights
are set to allow unregistered users to be able to view anything in the Main
space?

Hi all,
I am making a database where each page can have multiple 'levels' of
data, each next level should be shown to the user only when a
condition has been met, say:
1: general information
- Question
- Needs additional research: yes/no
2: additional research (only shown if applicable):
- Researcher
- Findings
My initial idea was to use seperate classes and create a combined
class sheet, like in the code below, but I suspect that will give
difficulty for instance when creating overviews in a Livetable.
Does anyone have experience in uses like this? Thanks for your ideas!
Joris
#set($class1 = $doc.getObject('Example.Class1').xWikiClass)
#foreach($prop in $class1.properties)
..
#end
if($class1.properties.needsadditionalresearch=="yes")
#set($class2 = $doc.getObject('Example.Class2').xWikiClass)
#foreach($prop in $class1.properties)
..
Hi all,
I have xwiki setup done on machine A with custom setting like log changed,
user, group and space rights settings .Also had space contents/attachment.
Now i did the fresh installation of xwiki on new machine B..What i wanted
was every setting, content, attachment i created on machine A xwiki
database should be migrated to machine B xwiki database.
**
*What i did for this is :-*
1) On machine A, as admin user navigated to export. It asked me package
name and description. I entered the value in that and it created a
A.xar file.
2)Now after xwiki installation i.e after extracting *
xwiki-enterprise-web-3.3.war* inside tomcat on machine B, i navigated to
import and imported A.xar file. Now i log in as admin user.
*Actual Problem*
Now i see the main space webhome page on machine B different from machine
A main space webhome page.Like under space i see this error Unknown macro:
spaces The "spaces" macro is not in the list of registered macros. Verify
the spelling or contact your administrator. Same error is there for
Tags. Also i do not the setting i did on default colour theme like i changed
the logo. Though i can see all the previous user, group ,space rights and
content.
*Not getting what i am missing here?*
To all,
We want to replace our existing Intranet with XWiki.
Our current Intranet is a bunch (100's) of HTML pages with text and
hyperlinks.
Can we import/convert our existing Intranet pages to XWiki?
If so, which steps should we take?
Of is this impossible and should we just create XWiki pages by hand?

One of the use cases I have for my wiki is storing 'issues', where
each issue should have a serial number consisting of year + subsequent
number.
I was thinking about a script like this, but one of the problems is:
there is no 'while' function in Velocity.
How would you create a form for this? Thanks for your ideas!
Joris
#set($space="Issues"}
#set($template="AppSpace.IssueTemplate")
#set($parent=$space.WebHome)
#set($year= ${xwiki.formatDate($datetool.date, 'yyyy')})
#set($partID="0"
#set($genericID=$space"."$year)
#while($xwiki.exists($space.$issueID'')
{
#set($partID=$partID+1)
#set($issueID=$year"-"$partID)
}
#if(!$xwiki.exists($issueID) && $xwiki.hasAccessLevel('edit',
$context.user, $issueID))
$response.sendRedirect($xwiki.getURL($ID, 'inline',
"template=$template}&parent=$parent"))

Hello xwiki community !
Since a long time, I work on a MailArchive application, and try to find time
to post it to the community ...
It's used in my team and is satisfying, but as I'm working on it currently I
think it's time to unveil what to expect from it, and have your feedbacks
before I (eventually) post a first version ...
What's implemented so far :
- "eats" mails from specified mail server / account / folder
- creates Mails and Topics pages and objects in wiki. Algorithm for topics
tries to be "hijack-proof" ;)
- Custom Livetable and timeline view for archive, table/threads/forum views
for topics
- persists main parts of mails (html content, main headers, attachments,
attached mails, images, detects encrypted mails), with a clean display
- configurable mailing-lists (independant of mail server) upon pattern
matching, with auto-tagging of created pages
- statistics page (top posters, ...)
What I would like to implement before first release :
- reply button and sheet
- configurable auto-typing of mails (for example,
Mail/Newsletter/Annoucement ...) (it already exists but it's hard-coded ...)
- test it with other server than exchange (ie gmail at least)
- configurable ldap integration : auto-creation of mail users from ldap (by
matching emails). Already implemented but not inside the app itself. It's a
very cool feature for enterprise level mailing-lists. Real users are also
automatically assigned as mails/topics authors/creators in wiki pages, as
well as mail dates.
- remove everything that's hard-coded and dependent of our usage - put more
simply, make it generic.
What I expect to add in next releases :
- multi-mail-server configuration
- improve admin pages
- ratings
- for now it dumps mails from a folder, meaning it does not act as a mail
server by itself. This means that some common features are not available
(validation of mails ...). For now it's more a simple dumped "clone" of a
mailing-list, but it does not interact with users / mails.
Some open questions / remarks:
- considering last point, I don't know how mailing-lists and mailing-lists
archives do work (ie xwiki-users and robot, nabble ...), so I don't really
know how I could implement such features inside xwiki, or even if it would
be something useful for users ... For now the whole application is a XAR and
I don't want to bring too much complexity to it. Anyway I'd like to keep
both functionality.
- for "reply" feature, I assume to use the global mail server configuration
parameters of the wiki, and the email from connected xwiki user profile
("from"). To simplify I would ask user for his password when he clicks on
"send" (and the form is valid), because depending on mail server configured,
you might need to be authentified to send a mail. There could be an option
to use or not the xwiki login for credentials. I don't know what 'd be the
better for this ... Maybe I should add specific configuration for outgoing
mail server in mail archive app ? Of course with a "real" mailing-list (with
a robot), you don't have this kind of problem as I believe it acts as a mail
server itself (kind of proxy).
Feel free to comment, manifest your enthusiasm (or your un-interest :) ) ...

Yes its strange,
This has happened since migrating from version 2.7 to 3.2. The import of the
wiki pages via
Exported xar files seemed to work ok, and the attachments are listed at the
bottom of the wiki pages, butwhen you cick on them to view the attachments
the wiki displays aa error message that the "The attachment does not exist."
Has anyone any idea what's happened and how to fix it?
Thanks.

Hi Richard,
Are you talking about the standard Attachments tab at the bottom of a wiki
page? Does it happen all the time? You should get this only if the session
expires. See
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise
32#HCSRFpreventionisenabledbydefault
. In XWiki Enterprise 3.2 CSRF has been enabled by default. I haven't heard
any complains so far, at least not related to the attachments upload form.
Hope this helps,
Marius

Hi!
Thanks a lot for the new XWiki version.
As for: "New default color theme" - http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-6982 It's the old one, but looks actual still.
Great thanks for: "* Special characters in attachment name". I checked cyrillic names - works fine.
Also I checked an issue we couldn't reproduce earlier. It failed to work again. http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-7399
Kindly ask somebody to reproduce steps in this JIRA issue and prove the bug or clarify how to avoid it. Till now I failed to get it working :-(
Thanks in advance,
Dmitry

Hi,
This has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find a clear
answer in the archives. Is there a way to configure the statistics
extension (or something else in xwiki) to keep track of how many times
an attachment is downloaded?
Am I stuck doing something like editing htmlheader.vm and
attachmentsinline.vm to insert Google Analytics code and keeping track
myself? Has anyone out there already done this?
Thanks,
aaron

first, thanks to XWiki SAS for hosting my Wiki, it works really fine !
I wonder if it's possible to get some stats about visitors, but I came

Afaik, I do no have shell/filesystem access to the server and can't do
this modification. Am I wrong ? Is there a way for myxwiki users to
modify this setting ?

Hi Richard,
Here a quickfix: use max_allow_packet directive directly into your dump
command.
mysqldump --max_allowed_packet=512m nms_wiki > backup.sql

If you want to understand this more, you should try to change my.cnf, in the

As of know my xwiki version is 3.2. Now we are planning to move on 3.3. Now
as admin user we have done lot of customization regarding
user, group, space creation and their right management. We have created some
content and attachment also under some user created spaces and pages.
Though everything is part of xwiki databse as i have not explicity done
any settinsg to save any stuff on disk
Now when i am migrating to 3.3 i am doing fresh installation. Till here
fine. Now i want to migrate all 3.2 xwiki data to 3.3 xwiki.
As per admin guide there seems two be two approaches :-
*Approach1:-*Export 3.2 xwiki data to xar file and then import it in 3.3
xwiki. *But it did not work for me*, as after migration i do not see some
stuff like
main space web homepage same as it used to be in 3.2 xwiki.
*Approach2:-* Take back up of complete 3.2 xwiki database . Now for 3.3
xwiki just make empty 3.3 schema and restore it to 3.2 xwiki data dump.
*It worked for me.* Every thing is same in 3.3 which was there in 3.2(that
is what i wanted) Now my question is it the right approach? Do i have to
take some precaution or need to be careful while doing this approach? *One
last question on this say there are some database configuration changes in
3.3 like deletion/addition of some table, or deltion/addition of some
column etc , in that case What will be consequences of this approach?*
Thanks Guillaume - it worked a treat - I'll setting up the my.cnf another

Hi All,
Running ...
mysqldump nms_wiki > backup.sql
Returns ...
mysqldump: Error 2020: Got packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes
when dumping table `xwikiattrecyclebin` at row: 2
I did have some rather large import attachments - which I deleted but they
seem to have gone into the recycle bin - so I used the code snippet

To supposedly empty the bin, but get the same error above when I try and
dump the database seeming to indicate the recycle bin isn't empty.
Tried increasing the max_allowed_packet when I run mysql, but doesn't seem
to have any affect - is something overriding it? We're running on Solaris.
Any ideas/help would be appreciated so I can backup the wiki successfully on
mysql!!!!
Thanks.

Thankyou for your help Marius your suggeation helped.
I reinstalled the wiki as a separate tomcat app and the link problem
disappeared, but the problem still appeared in the origianal wiki tomcat app
even when looking at the new wiki mysql database created for the second

You can edit WEB-INF/hibernate.cfg.xml (from where you deployed XWiki) and
change the database (scheme) name in the connection URL (look for the
"connection.url" property in the MySQL configuration section).
E.g. replace jdbc:mysql://localhost/xwiki with
jdbc:mysql://localhost/test_xwiki
You may have to create the new database (e.g. test_xwiki) first as per
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/InstallationMySQL#HInsta
llationSteps
but I think you can use the same user/password when granting rights.
Hope this helps,
Marius

Hello,
I decided to upgrade my xwiki from 3.1 to 3.3 today, only to find out
that since 3.2 postgresql support in the wiki is broken. That's two
stable releases that have this problem, is this being worked on or is
postgresql support dead?
Below is the error, searching around i see other people complaining
about this, but no fix.
Thanks.

I have a question regarding the location of storage of different content in
xwiki.(I mean does it get stored in xwiki databse which we mention in
hibernate.cfg.xml or somewhere else on disc?)Where does below contents gets
stored in xwiki :-
1)Space and page contents
2)Atachment under spaces/pages
3)Users ,groups, spaces
4)Rights given to Users ,groups, spaces
5)Any modification done from admin user like changes in main Page
configuration/Look and Fell , changing the default colour theme or
addition of new colour theme.
Thanks.
I did fresh installation of xwiki . After performing all the steps
mentioned in xwiki admin guide, when i hit the xwiki url i get below error.

*Basically it creates all the table when i hit the URL first time but not
the table 'xwikistrings'.* I tried to do installation 3 time, Every time i
get same error.
I had to create this table manually after taking table description from hbm
file. *Is it a known issue or i am missing something here?*
When i take my mouse on user name link (that we see in front of profile on
the page just after log in), i see list of options profiles, preferences,
watchlist, network,my dashboard. I want to cofigure it so that this option
does not show up for specific group users. Can i configure it?
The reason why i want to this because if these options are shoen then user
can edit some stuff like change password, edit profile etch which i dont
want for specific group/user.
If it is not possible, can we restrict the specific group/user from editing
profile, change password( which is possible right now if user click
on profile or preferences option under user name link on top right corner
of welcome page) .Thanks.
Hi guys,
sorry for so many emails but here seems to be the cause of why the

Now that the upgrades have all been put in, does this mean that the
Xwiki environment is unstable?
Current Xwiki version is 3.1.1.....
Would an upgrade to 3.3 solve this or are there intermediate steps to
perform before I can go forward?

Kaya
Hello,
This message to request a wiki on the myxwiki farm, basically to try it
out, and to see if/how I could use it around some of the ideas presented
below :
http://iiscn.wordpress.com/about/
(basically a proposal for an ID space for IT in general, also allowing to
attach current ones(UNICODE code points and other concept/items, ISBNs, for
example), strictly "as is".
myxwiki.org user's name : yves trmlt
login : yt75
wiki server name wished : iiscn

Hi guys,
whew, a lot of work today :-)
I upgraded my main www site to Xwiki 3.1.1 in doing so I performed these
steps:
* cp old hibernate.cfg.xml file across to new xwiki dir
* cp old xwiki.cfg file across to new xwiki dir
* cp postgresql-8.3-603.jdbc4.jar to new xwiki dir
* cp skins/toucan to new xwiki dir
Now when I login, my login pic covers the first letter of the Title on
the page.....?
Is this because the CSS or cfg files have been altered in the new release?
Meaning I need to re-add my previous customizations to the new format?
Regards,
Kaya
Hi All,
As soon as l gets login , i enter to main space webhome page . I want to
change this default main space to some user created space (Basically what i
need is as soon as user logs in, he should enter to user created
space instead of main space) Is it configurable? Thanks.
The problem occurs even on xwiki default pages rather than on user generated
pages.
I'd like to keep the current wiki running for users so as not to distrupt
them and build up a new separate installation so I can try isolate what the
problem is as you suggest.
Can install another xwiki using the same mysql but using a differently names
xwiki database? If so how might I config it?

Could it be the content that's breaking the functionality? Like some
unescaped characters? Some HTTP request dumps (for example from Firebug)
would be helpful.

Hi All,
When i search some pdf document (attached with some page/space) on the
welcome screen and click on the attchment name, it opens the pdf document
in the same window. It happening when i log in as admin user other for any
other user pdf attchment gets opened up in new window.Thanks.
Hi guys,
I migrated to the XWiki version 3.30, and once i have imported the backup (. Xar) of my old XWiki, I can not use the wysiwyg.
Every time I try to edit some content, the loading icon keeps loading up forever.
Has anyone had this problem? Can you help me?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
just checked through my logs and found this:
SEVERE: The web application [/xwiki] created a ThreadLocal with key of
type [org.apache.log4j.helpers.ThreadLocalMap] (value
[org.apache.log4j.helpers.ThreadLocalMap@2ff7ac92]) and a value of type
[java.util.Hashtable] (value
[{url=http://wiki.optiplex-networks.com/xwiki/bin/export/XWiki/ResetPasswordRequestClass?format=xar&name=XWiki.ResetPasswordRequestClass&pages=XWiki.ResetPasswordRequestClass}])
but failed to remove it when the web application was stopped. This is
very likely to create a memory leak.
it's probably the reason my Java instance is so unstable and hogging my
systems swap. Can anything be done to sort it?
I can insert a macro but can't insert an attached image - get the same error
message: "There was an error loading the data".
So maybe under
/var/apache/tomcat55/webapps/xwiki-enterprise-web-3.2/WEB-INF/lib
xwiki-web-gwt-wysiwyg-server .jar is missing (was in Xwiki 2.7.1 version) -
is this the jar that I need? Maybe this 'missing' jar is causing the
problem??
It's not in the 3.2 war file - how do I get it?

As I said, if XWiki.WysiwygEditorConfig page was broken (bad permission or
invalid configuration) then the WYSIWYG editor wouldn't load at all. I don't
see how it can affect only the Recently Modified and Search tabs of the link
to wiki page feature.
The code that is called when you open those tabs is in GWT-RPC services, so
Java classes, which can't be affected by a XAR import (at least I don't see
how). There's no wiki/Java macro. All the code is in the WYSIWYG server jar.
Can you insert an image or a macro? If these features work (they also use
GWT-RPC services) then the problem is strictly related to the code that
queries the database. But if you say that the code I pasted works fine then
I don't have any clues..
