[xwiki-users] permissions/rights for printing

Hi, We decided to write an online book by using xWiki as the authoring system. While we want to make it freely available, we'd like to restrict pdf and other printable output apart from plain html. (we might want to sell pdf outputs later, with watermarks, but that would be a different story - and we will probably go via Latex then). But current permissions seem only to make a distinction between view(including html, pdf, rtf, xml, ...) and edit. [xwiki-users] xwiki.org website - references: can't open links in new tab!

Hi, Just wondering about something when browsing the xwiki website: All the links on the page http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/References/ cannot be opened in a new tab, obviously because they are all javaScript-made somehow. Tha also means that without javaScript, the links don't work at all. Is that really intended to be as is it is or an accident? [xwiki-users] Upgrade to Xwiki Enterprise 1.7.1 - WYSIWYG

Hello XWiki.. I've recently completed an upgrade from XWiki 1.5 to 1.7.1, and I've noticed some rather frustrating little quirks. Most of them I can work around (eg, the panel wizard goes beserk as there are a few default panels in the xar that raise an error). The one I cannot seem to work around is the problem with the WYSIWYG editor. Most of the old documents created in 1.5 are getting random "boxes" added to them in the editor, which means when the user comes to edit them in 1.7.1, they have to double-click the text, edit the small area that is boxed, click outside the box to continue. [xwiki-users] Import/export tool

Hello all, I was transferring information from an xwiki to another one using the import/export tool, and I was wondering if it is possible to export just a .xar file containing only a space within my xwiki, since I don't want to copy all information from the old wiki to this new one. For example: If I have in my xwiki the spaces A, B and C, I would like to import to my new xwiki only space A. How can I do it without having to export page by page in space A (and then having to recreate all hiperlinks) using several .xar files? Thanks ! Roney Castro

To myxwiki admin people Can someone reinstate/flush my progtramming rights, username: ajdinbrandic I had programming rights set up by Vincent for myxwiki.patternlanguagenetwork.org. Due to issues with upgrade I lost all rights. Now my admin rights have been reinstated but yesterday I added a new panel 'Panels.TagCloud' and it only works on Main/Tags page. The code uses code which requires programming rights. [xwiki-users] Page layout not changing after setting it in panels page

I have installed xwiki-enterprise-web-1.8-milestone-2 into a tomcat6 instance and cannot seem to change the page layout of one of the spaces. Changing skin colors works fine. When I go to the panels page and choose page layout, I can see the no sidebar chosen. I choose another layout without a problem and click save. This reports that the layout has been saved correctly. However, when I go to the space that I edited, I still get the no-sidebar option. Any thoughts? Thanks, Sean

I have a problem with a multi-language xwiki. I've added a new space and some documents in that space. xxxx.WebHome is the startpage in that xxxx space A few documents have graphical attachments and one has a pdf attachment As a guest of this website I do not see the full text, and sometimes the geaphics are lost. Als the PDF is lost. [xwiki-users] Re: Changed upload_maxsize but still can't attach larger than 10 MB

I've done this. Currently I have the xwiki upload_maxsize to 200 and the mysql max_allowed_packet=1024M. Now, I was able to successfully upload a 25 MB file, which is better than the 10 MB limit that I had before, but I couldn't upload something that's 75 MB. When I try to upload a larger file, I get this message: Wrong password This is even when I'm logged in as Admin. Any ideas? [xwiki-users] Hibernate bug while trying to save modifications

Hi all, I found a really annoying bug today, and I am really lost solving it : I have created an application based on xwiki, i tried it on 3 different test servers, using the export import between each server. My application generate a lot of pages/objects. When I use the export/import between the servers, I import only the application, not the data. Everything worked fine, but I imported the application on the prod server friday. Since then, I can create an object. In the history of the page/object, I have a version 1.1 created by me before the import on the wiki (the objects have been created today, the import was friday). I am not admin on the server, but the last test was on another instance of xwiki on the same server and the configs are the same. Did somebody already have this problem ? How can I solve that ? Hello folks, I have some troubles setting space rights from Velocity and can't find any examples for it. This code should generate new XWikiGlobalRights objects for each user. However, adding them to the Space.WebHome page doesn't work, and adding them to the Space.WebPreferences page (like the Set Rights page does) fails (the objects are not generated). Hi guys, I'm aware of the fact, that there is not yet a feature for deleting class properties. I think I read somewhere about a workaround for this but can't find it anymore. I don't care, if the data remains for some documents, but I do not want to get it displayed, nor do I want the property to be fillable in new pages. Can you give me a hint what to do so, raw SQL is cool as well, if that is the only way. A second question, since I'm not yet an expert on xwiki datastructure and database model (I know of the xwiki.org docs on this) is the following: I want the pagealreadyexists page to show me, what template was used for the creation of the existing document. Like: "Document 'blabla' exists and was built using template (class/object) of type 'blablabla'." I think this should be easy, how do I get the object name of the used template? [xwiki-users] Max Upload Size questions

Hello everyone, I was testing the import/export tool from one wiki to another (I'm actually trying to export from an online xwiki to a testing instance locally in my machine), and the resulting file from the export process turned out to have around 255MB. I have the xwiki enterprise 1.7.1 installed on my machine (including a Jetty container and an HSQLDB database all set up). When I try to "upload" the exported file, I get an error message saying that the max upload size is 10MB. I already changed the upload_maxsize property in xwiki.preferences to 300MB (the information in the field was written in Bytes, equivalent to 300MB), but yet even so, I keep getting the same error message. I think this might be a HSQLDB handicap. Am I correct? In any case, how can I solve this issue so I can proceed with this test?! Thanks a lot ! Roney

[xwiki-users] Less resource-intensive plataform for XWiki?

I have XWiki 1.1-milestone-2.3619 available in my business. I use it as a repository for engineering technical information and legislation and as a Blog. My XWiki installation is the default one with the jetty container. I use Vista x64 SP1. The "xwiki_db.script" file is now over 3,5GB (mostly because I have many attachments) and I have set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx2512m to be able to load XWiki. The process java.exe occupies 2,6GB of RAM memory. I have bought additional RAM reaching a total of 6GB to be able to use the computer while XWiki is loaded. XWiki as become an important part of my business and all my co-workers love to use it, so the information keeps growing. I will most certainly reach the maximum RAM (8GB) of my computer and will have to make large hardware investments if I am to continue using XWiki. Is there a less resource-intensive way for Xwiki to store attachments or a container more suitable for the way I use XWiki? Thank you for your reply. Please contact the support if this happens again. ' error when i try to save the change I think that maybe that comes from the fact that I have some entities of this class in the database. Thanks Jerome. I updated the administration app, as you suggested, only maybe not as carefully as you suggested :) I should learn to read instructions. I did update the group pages. That, as you predicted, went OK apart from the XWikiAllGroup. Can you run the script to restore that for http://patternlanguagenetwork.myxwiki.org/ ? As a side note, it would be nice to have an option to perform bulk operations on a group's member list, by using a list of all members with checkboxes. Not instead of the current interface, but in a addition. I have tried XWiki v 1.7 stable and 1.8 M2, and when I try to edit a page, it proposes the old WYSIWYG editor. Hello everybody, Just another question, Is there any way to use structured data input and view in XWiki? I've seen some pages that have it, but I don't know an easy way to implement it. I has to be something simple, like in excel or a shared excel where you can copy paste from the office suite. I think that normal tables could handle it, but when I copy paste from excel the table is no more editable. Another option is a table where you can edit rows somehow. I don't know all the possibilities of xwiki, so, any suggestion? I'm executing some code on Save which attaches a PNG file to a document that was edited/saved. When I call docObj.saveAttachmentContent(attP, context); the attachment is save OK but any changes made to my document (ie. text changes) are not saved. If I comment out this line the text changes are saved, but off course not the attachment. [xwiki-users] Send something by FTP in a space

Hi, I should want use XWiki as a platform to distribute java web start applications. I want some acces control : only register persons can get the jnlp and jar file. I put the jars on the server by FTP with an ant task. I edit the jnlp file on the server with vim (or KEdit, if the X server is ok). I don't want use the internal stuff in XWiki to edit or install these files, I use xwiki only to control the acces and to make a presentation page (ex : "Please clic here (here), it's my very good java application") of the product. How is it possible to get the FTP transfert inside a xwiki context ? Thanks.

Hi, we just upgraded our XWiki from 1.3.2 to 1.7.1. Right afterwards the firewall registers LDAP-Packages from the XWiki mashine as an attack, saying: "A malicious LDAP packet may indicate a potential attack. An attacker could use a modified LDAP message to cause buffer overflows on defective systems and execute arbitary code. (LDAP message contains malicious data which does not comply with ASN.1)" It seems that it has something to to with the changings made since 1.3.2. Is that possible? [xwiki-users] Bug on the sortable filterable table javascript.

Dear all, I found a bug on the sortable filterable table : i have different options (PO done and done) in a table cell. When using the filterable option, the done option do not appear in the selection. I went searching in the tablefilterNsort.js file, and it seems it comes from the PopulateOptions method, and more particularly from the search method in the celldata check : if(OptArray.toString().toUpperCase().search(cell_data.toUpperCase()) == -1) // checks if celldata is already in array The method search returns the number of occurence of the searched parameter, in my case, it returns 1 for done, but i would like -1 (my option is different). I tried changing the test (if its different to -1, addind a test on the length), but did not found an answer. I think this is a quite serious matter, as this problem may be found quite often. Somebody had the same problem ? Somebody is a master of javascript (i am not unfortunately) and might help on this ? I am really frustrated with this now. I cannot get to save an attachment to a document although all works well on my local xwiki instance 1.6.1. As discussed in post "Re: [xwiki-users] groovy.lang.MissingMethodException - Nosignatureof method" and suggested by Denis Gervalle -def attP = doc.getAttachment(filenameToSavaAs) -if( !attP ) attP = new com.xpn.xwiki.doc.XWikiAttachment(doc,filenameToSavaAs) -doc.getAttachmentList().add(attP) -attP.content = imgAsBites -attP.author = context.user -// attP.comment = 'comments for your attachement if you want' -doc.saveAttachmentContent(attP,context) This however generates a new instance of the same file every time the code is run. This is the same on v1.6 and 1.7 that myxwiki runs. I've tried doing doc.getAttachmentList().add(doc.getAttachmentList().indexOf(attP),attP) but this fails saying that the index is -1. Also on the 1.6 version if I restart glassFish only one file instance is left in the attachment area. Clears the chache. Hello, I am experiencing some layout issues. I am using the right navigation panel. In the Blog WebHome Page, the right navigation panel is properly visible for some pages. However, for some pages, the right navigation panel either appears at the bottom or at the upper left corner of the page. I am having this problem only on the Blog WebHome page. [xwiki-users] Permission error changing profile photo with LDAP integration.

I have a user as a member of the XWikiAllGroup. When using the default authentication class, she is able to change her profile photo. When I use the XWikiLDAPAuthServiceImpl authclass to integrate with LDAP, she gets a permission error "You are not allowed to view this document or perform this action" when trying to change her photo. Are there any differences in how this permission is handled across the auth service implementations, or is it likely to be an LDAP group configuration error? Thanks, Peter

Hello everybody, Changing the language to Spanish translates almost everything, and I say everything because three important things for us weren't translated: -The WYIWYG editor: I am considering to do it directly into the code -Some panel headers: just editing the panel allows me to translate -the tabs with Comments/attachments/history/information footer: which I have no idea how to translate. My question is specially about the third point, how can I change it?, the content is properly translated, but the TAB name is still in English. Hi I'm trying to delete an attachment using Groovy script. I've used com.xpn.xwiki.doc.XWikiDocument.deleteAttachment(att, context); but get error indicating a type mismatch. Hi! I've created a space and denied all access to it to all groups. As an admin (not superadmin), I can still view this space. Then I've denied "view" right to this specific admin, but he can still view this space. The user I'm testing space with was created from Active Directory automatically. [xwiki-users] Admin pages...

Is there any way to hide "admin" type pages from users? What I mean is that when I go to an index or search results, not only does all of the user created pages/content show up, but so does all of the admin pages and pages related to the structure of the XWiki platform. Given that some of my XWiki users are not savvy programming types, I want to avoid them even being able to see these pages. They tend to distract and confuse. Is there a way to have only end user created content appear in searches, what's new and index pages? [xwiki-users] Document Information Tag Editing

I am a new XWiki user and recently installed the Enterprise version and am considering using it for a small company corporate Wiki. So far, I love what I see and by comparison is much more user friendly then some of the other Wikis I have tested. But, I am having one small problem. When I am editing a document, the Tags input box in the Document Information panel does not work. If I make any changes in the Tags input box, they are not saved with the document. However, if I make changes within the Tags input box in the Information tab on a document and click the Save button, the changes are retained. Any suggestions as to why the tags input in the Document Information panel might not be working? I have installed the standalone version and have left pretty much all of the defaults intact. Any help would be appreciated. Hi, Sorry if this question was already asked. Is there a way to make available the Calendar, Photo album and blog but for individual spaces? It would mean that only user from that space would see the content of these sections. I hava e page, called "Father" and his child, "Child" If I change Father's name to "Dad", then Child's parent remains Father, even if it does not exist anymore. Is there a way to automatically follow the renaming of the page, making Child's parent become Dad, as it happens with links? [xwiki-users] Merging xwiki databases

I have two xwikis running on two different servers, with different databases. I want to centralize those xwikis in only one server. Therefore, I'm looking for a way (or a tool) to merge the information present in the xwiki on the server that will be disabled, into the database of the xwiki running on the central server, that will remain active. The structure of the old wiki will remain the same, and will be accessed from a link at the main page of the xwiki that will remain active. Does anyone know if it is possible to do that?! Yes I concurr - my users would find the WYSIWYG table border editing very useful, plus sizing of tables. Also noted that the table gets centred on the page - can't seem to left or right justify it. Also can't insert tables within tables. How do you change the logo? I've copied our logo over the existing logo under the skins directory - and restarted the wiki and opened a new browser on the wiki but it still has the old logo! Hello. I'm having some trouble with the administration of page rights in XWiki 1.7.1. I have a space with certain user rights. Then I assign some rights to a different user in a page in that space, leaving the rest of the boxes blank. As a result, the other users lose their rights in the page. I need to copy the marks from the rights admin to the page rights admin, so that the space users do not lose their rigths in this page. I've read again http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/RightsManagement and I can't distinguish if this effect is this a bug or a feature. Thank you for your help. JLE

I'm attempting to embed some {code} within a number list using the following syntax: 1. Subject 11. Step 1 {code} my code here... {code} 11. Step 2 11. Step 3 11. Step 4 and trying to get it to show like this: 1. Subject 1. Step 1 my code here 2. Step 2 3. Step 3 4. Step 4 but it's coming out like this: 1. Subject 1. Step 1 my code here 1. Step 2 2. Step 3 3. Step 4 I have two issues. First, it's re-numbering my number list after the code, starting at number 1 again, but I need it to continue the number list. Second, it's not indenting my code. Hello, After installing Xwiki on my linux laptop without any problem, now i try to install it in my company. We use Websphere 6.1 and Oracle 10 When we deploy the standard WAR file (from the xwiki.org website) it goes ok but trying to reach the xwiki URL, we got an error message : Error 500: javax.servlet.ServletException: com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 3 in 0: Could not initialize main XWiki context Wrapped Exception: Error number 3001 in 3: Cannot load class com.xpn.xwiki.store.migration.hibernate.XWikiHibernateMigrationManager from param xwiki.store.migration.manager.class Wrapped Exception: Error number 0 in 3: Exception while hibernate execute Wrapped Exception: Could not parse mapping document from resource xwiki.oracle.hbm.xml The xml file can be found in the core jar but does not seem to be found by the system. Hi All If I add Search panel using Panel Wizard, click "Save the new layout" button and open some wiki page - I dont see Search panel. Intead of it, I see Search panel. I generate fine the new document and the object with the values i want for the properties, but i did not succeed in putting text in the document, i tried using $newDoc.setDefaultTemplate and $newDoc.insertText but no success at all. Hi guys, I chose to have our XWiki to be translated into German. The standard setting to "de" does only change some portions of the Wiki. Is the prefered way to have everything translated to manipulate all standard templates or is there some kind of better, more stable way? What happens if I translate stuff in the templates and update the XWiki later on. Would they vanish again? [xwiki-users] [MYXWIKI] access rights issue

I have a couple of pages on an xwiki I manage on the mywiki farm with a strange access rights situation: http://patternlanguagenetwork.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Patterns/Classroom… http://patternlanguagenetwork.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Patterns/TryOnceRe… Although I am an admin of the site, I can't admin these pages. In the rights editor, I get columns for edit, comment, view and delete but not admin. When I try to change any values I get an error. I can admin all other similar pages in the space.
