[xwiki-users] Problem installing XWiki Enterprise

Hi, We're trying to install the Standalone Version (zip file) of Xwiki Enterprise on a dedicated server (linux Red Hat) We followed the guide on the XWiki Website, we have started start_xwiki.sh but when we tried to reach the url that we are given, it doesn't work. We have guessed that we must change localhost to our server ip : http://ipserver:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome Is anyone able to help us? Hi! Since I'm new to xwiki i guess that my problem has an easy solution but I can't find anything on the list or in the forum. I have asked for help on this on 2 other occasions and have yet to get an answer. I want to be able to automatically place AD users into XWiki groups so they can use the wiki. At this point they can authenticate but have no rights, and view no pages. Please help.

[xwiki-users] Problem with Watch functionality

Hi We are experiencing a problem with the watch functionality. We have added a page in the watch list for a particular user and set the Email notification frequency as hourly. But the mail is not sent even after performing some modification is done on the page. The SMTP configuration seems to be fine. Is there any other setting required for this funcionality to work. Also we are interested to know whether we can have a watch list for an user group. Please help.. I am trying to use Workspaces installed from the xar and the workspaces skin doesn't match up with the contenton Main.Webhome and others. I also can get the Watch list to show in the Toucan skin although the scheduler says that the jobs are scheduled and I have set the user and smtp server in global preferences notification class. [xwiki-users] Monitoring and Export Application

The Monitoring application includes scripts to check the running requests, view the memory consumption and flush the cache. Cependant je ne sais pas quel fichiers d'installation utiliser. (.war, .xar, .jar???) Pouvez nous dire, s'il vous plait, quels fichiers utiliser et que faut il installer au préalable pour faire marcher XWiki (version de jdk? ou la trouver pour notre distribution?) [xwiki-users] XEM : Cannot acces to the main wiki (manager wiki)

Hello, I'm afraid I can't access anymore to the main wiki (the one who can manage all wikis). I have made a few DNS / httpd.conf updates, for accessibility reasons, but I'm not sure that main wiki worked fine just before... so I'm not sure that's the reason. Each wiki (included main wiki) is on a secured URL : https://main.me.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ https://first.me.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ https://second.me.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/... I have a static page on https://main.me.com/index.htm => OK => So I think DNS is not the problem, nor Apache config file. Apache (in front of Tomcat 6.0) logs show some 302 error code. And access to main wiki redirect to the wiki "xwiki.virtual.redirect=" defined int oxwiki.cfg. Is there any test I can do to understand what happened to the main wiki ? thanks for any idea... Hi I have got Xwiki Enterprise 1.5 for Windows running. I have entered some anchors within my text by defining them within the wiki editor, e.g. [See my anchor>#Iamananchor] <a id="Iamananchor"></a> 1.1.1.1.1 This is some text about something The issue I have is that as soon as I switch to the wysiwyg editor the <a id=...> is lost. You could extend the XWikiLinkFilter class and override the getWikiView() method to not render it in camel case (and register your new filter in the radeox properties file) and put your new class in WEB-INF/classes. It's not hard to do but requires some programming skills. However I'm taking your request into account since we're currently rewriting the rendering mechanism of xwiki. I think it makes sense to display the page name as is and make it configurable if users want to display something else. [xwiki-users] ACL Mgt. puzzles me

Hi, I've just updated my own installation to the version 1.5. The installation itself was painless, but the XAR integration wasn't. First I had to upload the new XAR so I can benefit from the new stuff and afterwards I had to upload my own exported XAR from my old installation to preserve my preferences. I had to figure out which one to take and which one not (content, preferences, apps all together), it's like shooting a moving target (did I something wrong or is that the standard procedure?). Currently it doesn't load the user and the group part in the administration section correctly, meaning no content (FF3, Kubuntu 8.04, Opera loads it just fine), but this is maybe an issue with my PC. However, as I don't want my XWiki accessible by public and certainly not open for registration, I'm a bit puzzled about the right-scheme... How can I disable user registrations? Thanks, Squirrel

[xwiki-users] Problems with attachment updates

Hi ! I'm currently using attachments to have my minmaps shown up on my website using a macro. When I update one of my mindmaps, the mindmap displayed still the same. If I download the file and open it with Freemind, it's still the first version. Worse, if I delete the attachment and use my browser history to fetch the attachment again, it resolves and gives me the first version... again ! However, using the revisions page gives me the wanted result, selecting the last revision return the true revision. I'm using XWiki 1.4 on Tomcat 5.5@Debian-etch. Hi Brian, I think that's actually a bug on XWiki's side. I tested it on XE 1.5 and the default behavior is that users that only have the edit right cannot rename pages (they cannot see the "Action" menu in the topbar, whereas admins can see it). The only exception to this rule is on an user's own profile page where the user, while being given only the edit right (as you can see if you edit the page in object mode), can see the "Actions" button in the topbar. There is no reason I can think of why this should be the case. Therefore I think you can file a bug on http://jira.xwiki.org/ (in the XWiki Enterprise project) to describe the issue. Hi Community, I have to make my wiki with the assumption that the user will be as destructive as possible but should never see an error page. I want the user to be able to edit their own user page, change password etc. but when I give them the edit right it also means that they can rename the page which would result in an error. Is there any way to allow them to edit their page and change password but not rename it? Regards, Brian

In order to fix this my stop gap solution is to temporarily attach all other attachments to the page. 1) I can generate a list of attachments which I loop through using #foreach($attachment in $attachments), could someone please tell me how to attach the $attachment to the current document? 2) Can anyone suggest a better solution than this? hello, some time ago i had a problem with the editor...wysiwyg...and then i changed to the wiki editor. but now it seems that i have to come back to the wysiwyg editor and it freaks me out. i have a menu in a div and it simply changes my page even if i do nothing. for example..i have this page..i click the edit button(wysiwyg) and then it alters my html code. does anyoane know what to do to make it stop, please?? [xwiki-users] Xwiki Enterprise installation problem on Ubuntu Server 8.04 + Tomcat 5.5 + PostGreSQL 8.3

Hi all, I've got many problems to install Xwiki Enterprise on my Ubuntu Server 8.04. I followed this official howto : http://www.howtoforge.com/xwiki-tomcat-mysql-debian-etch http://www.howtoforge.com/xwiki-tomcat-mysql-debian-etch Then i've got some errors during the postgres database creation so i created the database and the user xwiki through my webmin interface. I finished the howto and i've got a blank page... I've read the xwiki.log and i found an error : Caused by: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.15/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so: libmlib_image.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So i've been searching on the net and i found this topic to fix the error : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=829866 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=829866 Now no more new errors in the xwiki.log but i still have a blank page... I think maybe it's a problem of connection between xwiki and the database because when there were no database, i already have this blank page. Someone can help me please ????... [xwiki-users] (no subject)

Good Morning Community, I am using the getContentOfSection method to display the content of certain sections of my wiki as I rudimentary type of search functionality. The line of code used is $doc.getContentOfSection($item.getSectionNumber()). Is there any way to display the sections without displaying their titles? Also, is there any way to display images which are embedded within a section. Regards, Brian

[xwiki-users] LDAP Authentication

Hello All, I have installed XWiki in our environment using jetty and MS SQL Server. I have successfully configured authentication using LDAP but I don't see any users when I click on Users and Groups under Administration. I guess this is because XWiki just uses LDAP to authenticate but doesn't stores the users anywhere. I checked on mailing lists and found that few discussions where people have suggested to add following line in xwiki.cfg xwiki.authentication.createuser=ldap and XWiki will start storing users in his database. But the above didn't work for me. I also found a snippet which might import the users but don't know how to run it. I am a .Net guy and I have very limited knowledge of java. I would like to create groups of LDAP user and give different permissions to different groups. How can I achieve this? Thanks, Avinash

[xwiki-users] User Registration

As of this latest XE release, I don't appear to be able to disable user registration. I've got the red "don't" sign in the "Register" checkbox on a bunch of the Rights pages, but it still shows and allows user registration. Am I doing something wrong, or did something change? Thanks! Jamie

Yes the email of tha admin is working and it is sending notifications without any problems. There is no problem also in the user email. Any idea what can cause this? [xwiki-users] Layout for individual Space in new Admin Panel

Hello Community, Has someone some experience with the new Admin Panel? How can I change the Layout for the individual Space? I.e. I would like to have 3-Columns layout only for the start page, and for the rest pages – 2-Columns layout with menu on the right side. I did the same with XWiki Ent. 1.2, defined the special layout only for one space, but I cannot find how can I do that with the new Admin Panel. Theoretical I know I should just edit WebPreferences->PanelWizard->PageLayout for the certain space, but when I choose the space and then click on the Panel Wizard button to come to the Layout Editor, I am always sent back to the Preferences Page for the whole Wiki. I don't know if it a bug or I missed something? Hi community, I am designing a wiki, which has information about a number of countries. Each country is a page with various pages defining sections, i.e. overview, geography, etc. The user must be able to add sections by just putting in an extra title in a country's page. I want the user to be able to either navigate by country i.e. just go to a country's wiki page. Or to view all overviews, all geography, etc. The problem is that the countries do not all have the same sections. I have attached a dummy object to all country pages so that I can generate a list of countries automatically. I have also written some code that given a section title I can display all the sections from all the countries. Now all I need is to be able to generate a list of all the section titles. If I could make some kind of array I could do this easily. I would just loop through all countries and all sections adding the title to my list if it was not already in the list. Is this possible? I did try a very unorthodox approach whereby I would have stored all the individual titles as titles in a separate wiki document but this didn't work because the setSectionTitle method didn't seem to do anything. [xwiki-users] Exception in registeration when switching email verification On

Hello guys, When I try to register as a new user and the email verification option is 'Yes' I get an exception. The watch list is working fine and sending emails normally so the SMTP server connection is working, Just it doesn't work when I try to register a new user. Thats the exception I get. Small question about customizing xwiki: - I want to customize skin, by creating own skin (with name 'x'), After reading http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Skins I do next sequences of steps: a) creating directory <xwiki-base>/skins/x, b) copying all files from touckan to x c) changing default skin in xwiki.cfg grom touckan to x d) copying file templates/view.vm to x e) customizing view.vm (writing onethins inside) Last step does not work; i. e. if I change view.vm, nothing changed in xwiki. I want to run two different xwiki-based applications on different databases on one tomcat instance. I can set different dabases (with xwiki.db parameter), now I want set different base urls. //I remember, than year ago it was hardcoded. Is there a known problem with ldap group synchronisation in 1.3.2? The synchronisation works fine if it's the user's first login (...if the user is created). XWiki maps all AD groups to XWiki groups like it should. When a admin deletes the user from the XWiki group (without changing anything in the AD) and the user logs in again, XWiki doesn't re-map the AD group membership to the XWiki group membership. I have set: xwiki.authentication.ldap.mode_group_sync=always and for testing purposes: xwiki.authentication.ldap.groupcache_expiration=60 The xwiki.authentication.ldap.group_mapping settings shall be fine, since it works at least for the first login. Or do I have to set any other parameters as well? Thank you in advance! -------- Plus: If the user name contains a blank space (like "AAA BBB") (please don't ask me why.................. ^^), the user itself seems to be created correctly (I can find the user in the "Users" tab in the Administration area), but when I list all members of a group this user belongs to, there are two entries in that list: "XWiki.AAA" and "BBB" (without "XWiki." before)... Hi, is there a way to change some values from the xwiki.cfg per POST/GET parameter or per script? The idea is to adopt the login form and add a drop down box where the users can select their current subdomain. This value should afterwards be used as value for the base_DN property. Hi, I decided to not install any email software on my server, as I don't have the time and the knowledge to maintain it. I'm used from various PHP application to use an external SMTP server with authentication, which is very practical for my purposes...so, is it possible to configure XWiki to take a SMTP server with authentication (like smtp.gmail) without having a mail application installed on the server? Well, the whole backslash thing made me switch to another wiki. XWiki was pretty and had some cool functions. But I needed it to be easy to use and in the environment that I was designing it for backslashes are used a lot. I would hope that this might be resolved some day. Try to configure it using AD's WwwHomepage field as the username or another such field. I used an LDAP admin program to create everyones username in the WwwHomepage field without any spaces "." [xwiki-users] Backslashes?

I am hosting this wiki for a corporation that utilizes Windows machines. I can not seem to get backslashes to work. I have been searching google and it appears you have to either type in some goofy code like &#92 or do three /// in a row to get one backslash. Is this fixable? I need this to be user friendly and this is a show stopper. A plugin maybe, or an add on? Guy, Can anybody help me??? I did integration witch Active Directory. However, xwiki doesn't support character "." in login names. By the way, i found out that there is a version 1.5M2 that solve this problem... Does anybody know where i can download it??? or what must i do to solve this problem????? Try to configure it using AD's WwwHomepage field as the username or another such field. Unfortunately we are still running an outdated 1.3.8295 XWiki Enterprise server, running on a Suse Enterprise Server 9.0 box, Tomcat 6.0.10 and... mire:/usr/share/tomcat-6.0.10/work/Catalina/localhost/xwiki/GAlj8obV/attachment # java -version java version "1.4.2_10" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_10-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_10-b03, mixed mode) During this last weeks I was seeing like the disk space available in the server decreased. Finally, XWiki, or XWiki running on this particular server was guilty. Look at this: http://mire.environmentalchange.net/~webmaster/txt/XWikiEverGrowingFolder.t… This PRDCHARPOL.FIG1.png file was cloned a number of times. In this case, the list only shows the copies created in a short time after I've manually removed the work directory and restarted the server. The only solution has been to removed the files. The same is true with a bunch of files. Once the in troubles files have been removed from the page, the cloning process goes ahead, but only directory attachments is replicated. Please, any idea? Hello All, I want to write a script to combine the first name and last name to generate the email automatically. For example first name is Bat Second is man then the email is bat.man(a)yahoo.com automatically. This is done already in the username field so I made a script exactly the same but with different name ofcourse and variables. Problem is that its working as long as I comment the script for generating the username. [xwiki-users] 1.5-RC1 Import Error

Hi all, I decided to try out a fresh install of 1.5 RC1. It's up and running fine and the database gets initialized on the first run. I go to the XWikiPreferences page to import the administration application. I browse for the xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar file and attach it successfully. I click on the attachment in the "Select the file you wish to import" list and it expands the available documents to import list. I check all of the boxes, click Import, and get this error: Importing xwiki-application-administration-1.1.xar: Error while preparing importing * 0 Document(s) installed * 0 Document(s) skipped * 0 Document(s) with error There are no errors logged to the xwiki.log or my Resin logs. I get the same behavior in both Firefox and IE7. Has anybody seen this or know what may be causing it? With no useful feedback about what XWiki thinks is wrong, I have no idea where to start. -Jamie

Hi, I have been trying to use the video macro [1] without much success. I followed the instructions to upload and import the xar file into my xwiki. The import was successful. I then add the macro into the Velocity macros: Administration: Preferences->Advanced->Velocity Macro Pages I added: Marcos.Video, I was then hoping to embed a video into my xwiki. Unfortunately all I see is the text of the macro rather than the video, For example: #video('http://www.youtube.com/v/NEV2TnDUA-E&hl=en'); Any ideas on why this is not working ? Thanks James

Hello, First post! I am an IT administrator and I have been given the task of setting up a small internal WIKI, which I have successfully done. However it does not seem overly user friendly and I want to check if I am just missing a setting. Here is what I am wanting to do. I created a new page called "Vista Testing" on that page I want employees to be able to create a new page with details on the issues they are having and I would like for the new page to be linked to the "Vista Testing" page automatically using the title line that the employee typed in. The way it is now they create a new page and then have to go back to the "Vista Testing" page edit it and link the page they created to it. This doesn't sound difficult but to the technically inept it is like climbing a mountain. Would it hurt anything if I move those pages to the XWiki space so that I could delete the XAppSheets, XAppClasses, and XAppTemplates spaces?
