Hi
Google returns a couple of hits about XWiki and survey applications, such as this one:
http://old.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Dev/Polls
However I see no mention of a Survey application on the new XWiki pages.
Is there an application available for the newest XWiki platform?
Thanks,

Hi,
We're just verifying XWiki Enterprise as a base to a corporate InfoCenter.
Virtual Wikis are really fine to separate global infos from division infos.
To make some infos viewable offline we want to use the PDF export function
with hierarchical output via macro.
The problem seems to be that pictures (.jpg,...) are exported in a big
scale - even exports from the site www.xwiki.org create large images.
Is it possible to keep the size of pictures "as is" at PDF export - or
scale them down to page-width?
It would be nice to start each page of the hierarchy tree on a new page...
Is the developer team working on any PDF related point?

Hello list,
I now finally did a very clean installation of Xwiki Entreprise 1.1
latest and still get the scripts for the invitation and validation
mails empty... this is annoying since I do not know what should be
the velocity variables there for the activation code etc...
I tried googling... did not find it.
And I tried using the entreprise xwiki documentation but this seems
still todo even though I am never sure which site I am crawling
through in this documentation (I seem to be jumping from one site to
the other... but see the documentation thread.!).

Hi,
I've installed XEM 1.0-M2 from a fresh install (new database...)
and imported the
xwiki-enterprise-manager-wiki-administrator-1.0-M2.xarfile. In the
import list, I can see that there is an 'Admin' user, but I
cannot log on with the password 'admin' (lower case 'a'). Is the Admin
password different with XEM ? What am I doing wrong ?

Hi all,
I would like to have a moderation functionality in XWiki for all the

Kindly suggest on how to build this moderation (workflow) into the Xwiki

Hello!
When it happens:
//
Vector bobjs = doc.getObjects("XWiki.CalendarEvent");
//
//(doc is a XWikiDocument)
bobjs contains even deleted objects. How could I get only not deleted
objects?
thanks in advance!

Hello, again!
When I'm in 'Objects edition mode' I can see all objects this way:
XWiki.CalendarEvent[0]: Test 1
XWiki.CalendarEvent[1]: Test 2
XWiki.CalendarEvent[2]: Test 3
...
How could I get the index if I have the object?
Is the any other way of getting a determined object besides the index?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I know that I can not enable Database (the mechanism by default) and
LDAP authentication in a wiki at same time. But if I have configured
XWiki in virtual mode, can I enable LDAP authentication in any wikis
and Database authentication in others?
Thank you.

Hello all...
I have been trying to edit my S5 template.
I have been able to remove the already existing logo.gif and substitute
my picture in the class editor but it doesn't come up. I wanted to add an
image as a header as well which should've come up when ?xpage=s5b is added.
I changed s5b.vm and s5bheader.vm and tried adding a new css. Are there
any other checkpoints which I might have missed out ? Please advise.

Hi
I am new to xwiki. I follow the document and found out there is no link like 'Administration' on top right corner.
My basic question is how can I login as admin and change setting such as password and valid a newly register user?
the version I use is 1.2 rc1.
Thank you very much.

Hello List,
has there been any progress on that ?
I can attest that, at least out of the box, expanding the XWiki
webapp into the ROOT directory gives rather disatrous effects (i.e.
still loads of paths that are /xwiki/....).
It would be nice to have a rewrite engine but this has to work to
ways, i.e. if I drag-and-drop a link produced by XWiki it should the
short URL that one wishes and not one that is also compatible (but,
e.g., is very long).
thanks for hints. It is most probable by now that we shall build the
intergeo platform on xwiki and curriki...

Hi all,
Working with 1.2-rc-1.6216 I'm failing to remove the default Register
right for Unregistered Users by using the new Rights Management UI.
Please, how could I edit the involved object without using the UI?
It seems that the new RC2 is closer, but I would need to remove this
option from a new virtual xwiki ASAP.
Thanks for your help,
Ricardo

Hi!
Working with 1.2-rc-1.6216.
After setting up a Multi Lingual xwiki, *fr* and *en* are set as the
allowed languages and *fr* as the default one. But when we create new
pages, *en *keeps appearing as Default Language in the Document
Information menu. Document translation offers* fr*, but keeps saying
that we are editing the original document (*en*).
Please, am I misunderstanding something here? Could you figure out what
I am missing or this could be a bug?
Thanks for your help,
Ricardo

Hi Sergiu,
Thank you for the answer. I thought i could set them automatically... Anyway, regarding the opportunity to use some velocity scripts to do it, I've found that if i open a page with WYSIWYG editor i lost all velocity scripts in it. Is there a way to solve this issue (avoiding to use only the wiki editor?
Thanks

Rights aren't inherited from the parent.
You can either use space rights, template rights, or use some velocity
scripts to set the rights.

Hi,
the Print/Preview funtions is not working in our environment (1.1.2.5797).
PDF and RTF export works fine.
When we call the Preview I get the following error:

Anyone else also having this error, how can we get rid of it?

I added the Tag Cloud and InlineTagEdition Snippets as panels, but the "\|"
as a tag separator does not work under 1.2-milestone-2.5917.
Tags are properly displayed, but all "\|" are removed in the data field. If
I attempt to update the tags by typing something like "a\|b\|c" only one tag
is applied "a b c".
Same thing happens in the page edit, though...

1) Can I setup the service to use my own script for sending email

b) Failing that, how does one setup the email server settings,

2) Will this send multiple emails (one per watch), or a single combined
email per day?

Hi all (more for the dev's I guess)
When you setup a user as Admin to a space, they are treated as full
admin - so if you're protecting stats/toolbars/etc to admin users, they
end up seeing those things they're not meant to.
Shouldn't someone with admin rights to a space (not global admin) be
assigned admin rights only within that space?

I noticed the addition of this feature a little while back (good idea
guys :) ).
I don't seem to have any way to list the recycle bin though, in order to
either clear it, or confirm deletions after browsing away from the page
you get after deleting a page.
Is this detail available in some way? Or is it automatically cleared?
Hi,
i have class and in script i need real value. I mean, this script give me
value of attribute hromadna
#set($class = $praceDok.getObject("XWiki.SemestralkaClass").xWikiClass)
#foreach($prop in $class.properties)
#if($prop.getName()=='hromadna')
#set($hromadna = $praceDok.display($prop.getName()))
#end
#end
but, hromadna is boolean and i need value which is in database. 1 or 0.
Which method can i use for this?
thanks

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to set some rights on some pages, and i'd like to have those permissions setted automatically on some other pages. I've setted on one and i've set for the other the first one as the parent. This isn't working :(
How can i solve it??

Hi all,
In most of my tools, a user selection dropdown is used to allow someone
to be picked as a "owner" of a task, or assignement, etc. With a large
volume of users (often with same first names), I can't use either login
name (which is based on our network login); or the user's first name
alone.
Since 1.0, I've been making use of the following query (in a db list):
select firstname.value || ' ' || lastname.value from BaseObject obj,
StringProperty firstname, StringProperty lastname where
obj.className='XWiki.XWikiUsers' and firstname.id.id=obj.id and
lastname.id.id=obj.id and firstname.name='first_name' and
lastname.name='last_name' order by firstname.value
The "|| '' ||" option joins up firstname.value and lastname.value fairly
neatly, so people can select the correct person...
In 1.2rc1 it does not return users at all. Is this something that's
been locked down on 1.2rc1?

I would like to have a script that finds out for which spaces the current
user has view rights. I try to do:
#set($spaces = $xwiki.spaces)
#foreach($space in $spaces)
#set($whome = $xwiki.getDocument("${space}.WebHome"))
[$space>${space}.WebHome]
#if($whome.hasAccessLevel("view",$xwiki.getUser()))
acess? Yup<br>
#else
access? Nope<br>
#end
#end
but hasAccessLevel always return false. What am I missing? Is there any
other way to do this?
I have seen confusion for users caused by the case-sensitive concatenation
used for the default login id, i.e. FirstNameLastName - especially for
French & Italian names.
I would like to suggest that additional instructions be presented at the
time of registration indicating that login ids are case sensitive - and/or
perhaps have the option of using lowercase only for the default loginid, or
remove the case sensitivity for login ids.
Hello,
I am currently trying to get my xWiki public, but can’t seem to make my
administration button on the top right hand corner ask for authentication.
It lets xWikiGuest and all of my other low level users have full access to
my administration.
My question is, what setting do I need to change to block low level users
from admin access and grant my admin users access to my admin?
Thanks in Advance!

This comes up often, and it's really a good point in
XWiki's favour - it runs on practically anything that will run the needed server
components. I've had xwiki running in a virtual environment happily for
months; under 1gb RAM and a sliver of hdd space. Boils down really, to
your database and java container.
For barebones though, you can happily run it on, eg, a
modern desktop with 2GB Ram and it'll be happy to run like that for a good
while.
I think though, that there should really be a "minimum
specs" page in the admin guide. I'd happily add this, but it would be
unofficial until otherwise tested

Hello,
I would like to contribute to the documentation
at the URL
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Encoding
I would like to at the following:
Tomcat
------
In order to enable UTF-8 in tomcat, you have to add
URIEncoding="UTF-8"
to each connector enabled/used in conf/server.xml.
For example the non-HTTP Connector should read:
<Connector port="8080" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192"
maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75"
enableLookups="false" redirectPort="8443" acceptCount="100"
connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true"
URIEncoding="UTF-8"/>
Is there a way to get a direct account on the
documentation wiki?
Kind regards,
Thomas
Hi,
I'm currently integrating a fairly simple "publication management"
feature into XWiki, i.e. I exposed a BibTeX parsing/generation service
as a plugin and used the XWiki Class Editor facility to define a
Publication Class and provide "automagically" (btw veeeeery nice work)
an editing interface.
I am currently using the "TextArea" property for the BibTeX field with
"Editor" and "Content" both set to "PureText", I expected the content of
this field not to be rendered; i.e. "--" should not result in striked
text, instead it is.
Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding "PureText"?
If this is a misunderstanding of mine, in order to have the content of a
large text property not rendered by velocity should I define my own
property?
I also tried surrounding the property value with {pre} {/pre} with no
success, the "view" gets fine while the "inline edit" gets somewhat
confused and puts some html into the field content.
We are running XWiki Release 1.1.2 on Tomcat 6 on Mac OS X Tiger with
MySQL 5.0.
XWiki is an impressive platform to develop on, my best compliments to
all the people involved in the project.
Thanks a lot,

Hi all,
I want to create a form element to allow members of the general public
to enter information into a form and then have it stored in objects
within the wiki.
So far, fairly straightforwards.
My problem is that I don't expect random members of the public
to have accounts on the wiki. As such the objects are created
using the XWikiGuest account. Which is where I hit my problem.
Guest needs edit privs on the page in order to add the object.
This means that they can also view the objects created.
Given that we'll be storing potentially sensetive information
in there (telephone, email address etc) I really don't want
people browsing through it.
I tried using $xwiki.getURLContent(url, username, password) but
xwiki auth isn't "simple"!
My next plan was to temporarily authenticate with a dummy user
account via a plugin. It looks like I can provide credentials
with $xwiki.checkAuth(). But I can't see how to remove them
again at the end of the transaction.
My short term fix has just been to email the details to the
relevant people and get them to enter the data in by hand, but
this is far from ideal.
Anyone have any ideas how I can approach this?
Cheers,
Adam
I¹ve noticed that internal wiki links end up being a little ³off² -
specifically 1 line below the intended target.
E.g.: In this example, a link to "Header Target" ends up on "First line of
text" (and the Header is scrolled out of view"
--bunch of content---
1.1 Header Target
-> First line of text.
--lots more content--
I am running 1.2-milestone-2.5917.
Anyone else seeing this? Suggestions?
Hi there,
Unfortunately e have a little problem with the export to a pdf file out of our xwiki.
Some German letters (e.g.: ö, ä, ß) are printed to ? when generating a pdf.
Does anybody know how to solve the this?
Looking forward for helpfully answers.
Thanks a lot!

Is there more to glossary¹ definitions than I am seeing?
Since there is a data structure for a glossary term
>>> {code}
>>>> <dl>
>>>> <dt>
>>>>> TERM
>>>> </dt>
>>>> <dd>
>>>>> DEFINITION
>>>> </dd>
>>>> </dl>

I had hoped there would be functions like ³put the glossary out as a sorted
list², or pop-up definition when I roll over the term.
Got a rejection notice, message too long. Shortened to specifics:

Hi, I put 1 for xwiki.stats but the Stats are not working, even with a
restart of the apps. I'm using the last xwiki with postgreSQL database
Regards,
Sylvain
Hi everyone,
We now have a new version of the xwiki.org web site up and running on http://xwiki.org
Let us know if you find any issue.
I'd like to thank the following persons who helped:
- Laurent Lunati for the skin
- Thomas Mortagne for helping me with the migration
- Guillaume Lerouge also for helping with the migration
- Raffaello for the admin part
I really like the new site, hope you'll like it too :)
-Vincent, on behalf of the xwiki dev team
Hi folks,
I've been going through an upgrade process to get 1.2rc1 testing
underway; but I can't seem to get the xwiki database correctly updated.
So far I've run down the usual avenues:
* Added the connector for mysql.
* Setup the hibernate.cfg.xml as defined.
* Granted permissions to the xwiki database to the mysql xwiki
user.
The previous version being run was 1.1.2
This is not a problem if I create a new database (create empty db and
let xwiki generate tables/etc); only when I expect the database to be
upgraded.
I'm almost certain to be missing some crucial step, but can't for the
life of me think of what?

It'll be available for everyone in the near future. we need to make it
generic, save it in SVN and package it but then this is done it'll be
made available to all as the main skin by default.

How could it be improved do you think?

Hi all,
I tried to install xwiki with Jetty/MySQL on a fedora core 8 server.
I had some issues:
* log4j*.jar must be put on the jetty lib and not on the xwiki lib
* I had to remove xerces*.jar
Now, I have this fault (plus others, but I hope this is the key exception):
java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Data truncation: Out of range value adjusted
for column 'XWD_MINOREDIT' at row 1
Any idea why?
thnaks in advance,
Sylvain
Hi,
I would like to see a flash animation on a full screen page. Meaning that
when I click on a particular link, menus, header and footer disapear so I
can see the animation in a bigger scale. Do you know how to do that ?
Antonio
Hi,
I've made an animation with Wink, transformed it into flash (swf file) and
now I want to add it to my page. I've followed the instructions on
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/HowDoIAddAnimatedGifSshockwaveAndFl…
but it does not work.
What I do is that I attach my swf file (myanimation.swf) to my page and then
add :
#set($width = "500")
#set($height= "500")
#set($flashurl = $doc.getAttachmentURL("myanimation.swf", "download"))
#includeForm("xwiki:XWiki.Flash")
I'm using XWiki 1.0 and nothing appears on my page. When I look at the HTML
code produced, nothing in there. Does any body have any idea ?
Thanks,
Antonio
Hi Vitantonio,
i've tried search the archive, but i didn't find something that could explain it to a novice (especially due to i don't know velocity )
Could you please help me?
Thank you!!!

Hi Mattia,
you can use some velocity to show the link only to users in a known
group.
I remember that this was already asked in the past, check on the
mailing
list archive and you will find your solution ;)

Hi all,
I've been following the XE JIRA calendar, this users list, and devs and
notifications ones but I am not sure I am understanding the situation.
As far as I can see by following devs and notifications there are some
issues that are preventing the release of XE 1.2 RC2. Is this
interpretation correct?
Somehow I've missed 1.2 RC1 and I would like to understand how the
release process works.
Thanks for your help,
Ricardo

Hi!
When I am offline and do open the user profile page of my user, it takes
quite some time till the page opens, because of the rss entry on the page
timing out.
The error message is as follows:
"rss: Error processing
http://www.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/BlogRss?xpage=rdf: Connection timed
out: connect".
What template do I have to edit, in order to remove the rss entry.
Thank you!

Hi,
We got a new load of spam related hammering on xwiki.com. It is more and
more horrible and creates more and more unuseful load on xwiki.com. Spam
robots have included creation of XWiki accounts and use of these
accounts to publish spam data in the wiki pages.
I've had to deactivate statistics since each spam-related request that
cannot be catched by mod_security creates load on the database for these
statistics.
The only way to get statistics back will be to use Javascripts which
triggers a statistics storage request in the database (which would be
ignored by spam robots and search engines), or to wait until we can read
Google Analytics or another external statistics engine and redisplay it
on xwiki.com.
In the future we will propose a tutorial to activate Google Analytics on
your wikis. If you know how to do it you should include this on your
wiki pages to get statistics for your wiki.
I'm getting more and more worried about these spam robots and would
welcome any help and ideas on how to handle this to make xwiki.com a
viable platform for hosted public wikis.

Hello!
I am considering starting development on a Wiki-Platform integrated in a
RBAC-framework like PERMIS (http://sec.cs.kent.ac.uk/permis/). This would
permit to implement a cooperative document creation/distribution with a need
to know / need to share concept on part of or whole pages.
XWiki seems to be a good candidate for that.
Is there any interest by somebody else on this?
Cheers,
- Rick
Hi all,
I tried to put a big file in my wiki (200Mo). Because of the size, I
truncated it in 8 pieces. When I uploaded the fourth one, the wiki kinda
crashed. So I stopped it and restarted it but I always get error 500. So I
put more memory in the JVM (I was using 1300M and I put 1800M). And now it
works.
But I'm a bit scared with this memory consumption because I have something
like 100Mo of file attachment and the server is quite full :/
Is it because I'm using HSQLDB? If yes, is it possible to migrate to
something else? What's the best choice?
Hi Vincent,
Thank you for the quick response :)
I've the same problem with the albatross skin:
i.e. if I create a red coloured box in a table, during the editing session it looks right. when i save&view the page, it shift back to the default style
It is normal? (do you make tables with different colour cells and other merged?)
Thank you!!

Hi,
I'm not sure but It probably means that the finch skins doesn't have the correct css for the tables.
The finch skin isn't well maintained by the xwiki dev team right now. It's maintained by the community whenever patches are sent. The fully maintained skin is currently the Albatross one.

I log in as administrator and follow the process described in
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Skins#HChangingthelogoforthe….
* Find the /xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/DefaultSkin page.
* Attach an image file that is exactly 200 pix wide, and 70 pix high
(else the logo will look bad) to that page. For example: call the file
"mylogo200x70.gif".
* Click to edit this skin, and in the "objects" editor you will find an
object XWiki.XWikiSkins.
* Alter the XWiki.XWikiSkins object so that the "logo" property says:
mylogo200x70.gif (or what ever you chose to call the file name above)
My new logo shows up beautifully. Then I log out. The old logo comes right
back. I log in with a user account. The old logo is still there.
It is kind of charming that I can customize the logo that the administrator
sees, but really, I would like everyone to see my logo. What am I missing?
Thanks,
Cay

The XWiki Watch development team is pleased to announce the release of
XWiki Watch 1.0 Milestone 2.
You can grab it here :
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download#HXWikiWatch
Reminder : XWiki Watch is a collaborative RSS/Atom feed reader that allows
teams to read, tag, comment and flag articles in a AJAX/GWT interface
integrated inside the wiki. Features include also filtering, text
analysis, press reviews generation, English and French user interfaces,
and more! Note that Watch is delivered as a full Watch+Wiki or as a XAR
package installable in a standard XWiki 1.1 or 1.2
This release include both bug fixes and new features, among which you can
find :
- A Wiki integration : now every data collected/created (feeds, fetched
feed articles, tags, keywords and groups) through the AJAX/GWT UI is
accessible via classical XWiki pages
- UI improvements/bugfixes : Editing and deleting feeds is easier,
filtering both keywords + groups has been fixed, the feed tree does not
collapse unexpectedly anymore
- A m2 build matching the XWiki development process : now developers can
build XWiki Watch with a single line command
- Other bug fixes and improvements

Hi all,
I'm using XWiki for few days and there's a lot of things that's not working
like said in the documentation :
http://<server>/xwiki/bin/view/Main/EventCalendar<http://%3cserver%3e/xwiki/bin/view/Main/EventCalendar>is
a blank page
http://<server>/xwiki/bin/view/Stats/<http://%3cserver%3e/xwiki/bin/view/Stats/>also
there's no "object" in the
http://<server>/<http://%3cserver%3e/xwiki/bin/view/Main/EventCalendar>
xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/DefaultSkin.
I've just installed the
xwiki-enterprise-installer-generic-1.2-rc-1.jar<https://forge.objectweb.org/project/download.php?group_id=170&file_id=9617>file
on my server and that's all. What's the problem? Did I do something
wrong?
Best Regards,
Sylvain
I've had the same problem... I've solved replacing the original logo in albatross skin with the modified one (without modifying anything else). Than clear the browser cache and voitla.... the new logo is on!!

Oggetto: [xwiki-users] Changing the logo only affects the admin account
I log in as administrator and follow the process described in
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Skins#HChangingthelogoforthe….
* Find the /xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/DefaultSkin page.
* Attach an image file that is exactly 200 pix wide, and 70 pix
high
(else the logo will look bad) to that page. For example: call the file
"mylogo200x70.gif".
* Click to edit this skin, and in the "objects" editor you will
find an
object XWiki.XWikiSkins.
* Alter the XWiki.XWikiSkins object so that the "logo" property
says:
mylogo200x70.gif (or what ever you chose to call the file name above)
My new logo shows up beautifully. Then I log out. The old logo comes
right
back. I log in with a user account. The old logo is still there.
It is kind of charming that I can customize the logo that the
administrator
sees, but really, I would like everyone to see my logo. What am I
missing?
Thanks,
Cay

Hello,
I have a page showing a timeline, to display it I need to do the
following because this page redefines <head> and <body> :
http://mywiki/xwiki/bin/view/WikiDev/TimeLine?xpage=plain
It's a simile timeline, and I got the sample from here
<http://www.jeremi.info/index.php/post/2006/11/28/Simile-Timeline> ,
from Jeremi's site (thank you if you read it to make me discover the
simile timeline ! ;) ).
I would like to insert this rendered page in another wiki page. I wrote
this:
$xwiki.getDocument('WikiDev.TimeLine').getRenderedContent()
Of course it's not correct, because I would like plain template to be
applied to retrieve the rendered content. How can I proceed ?
Another way would be for this very page to be able to redefine <head>
and <body> properly, but I don't know how to make it (and to make it
correctly, and for this only page).
Thanks ,
Jeremie

The XWiki development team is pleased to announce the release of
XEclipse 1.0.1
You can find it at http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Download#HXWikiEclipse
XEclipse is an Eclipse plug-in that allows the user to interact with
an XWiki server directly from within the Eclipse IDE. It comes in two
flavors: as an Eclipse plugin that can be directly integrated in the
Eclipse IDE or as a standalone RCP application.
This release is mostly a maintenance release that fixes some serious
bugs that prevented XEclipse version 1.0 to work correctly.
Main changes from 1.0:
* Solved XMLRPC issues when connecting to XWiki version 1.2
* Solved problems in XWiki Explorer structure visualization.
* Added some minor user interface improvements (e.g., page loading
progress bars).
Thanks

Hello all,
We've been using an earlier version of xwiki (0.8.503) for a very long
time.
Do you have a migration plan from that version to the latest? Otherwise
I would appreciate if you can suggest the best way to do go about doing
it.

Why does the top menubar go away when in edit mode? Is this by design?
Shouldn't there be an option within the "Show" menu to return to the
original article? I realize you can just click on the last leaf in the
parentage tree (or whatever it's called, sorry), but that seems less
intuitive. When I click into the 'Show->Wiki code' or 'Show->History'
or when linking to it directly, it's a bit awkward to return to the
formatted article.

I'm interested in adding support for rudimentary highlighting of C++
within the code macro. Should this be a separate issue from
http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-864 ({code} macro should support
highlighting for radeox and velocity), or should this issue be extended
to include it?
Should I investigate adding this directly to the Radeox project instead?
I really don't know much about Radeox yet, but from the documentation
for the code macro, it sounds as though all the existing highlighting
code comes out-of-box from Radeox

Hi,
I search and read through the upgrade info from this link below.
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HUpgradinganXWi…
It said that the general strategy for upgrade is to download the WAR Distribution and to replace your current installed WAR.
Since I did an initial xwiki install using the standalone xwiki enterprise window 1.1.2 installer, how can I upgrade to 1.1.2 milestone 2 without losing any current data? To be more specific, which file should I download and use?
Thanks,
YinKee

Hi,
I'd like to give some feedback on our installation of XWiki
Entreprise. We used Tomcat 5.5 and Oracle 10g.
The connection with the database works fine, although we had a little
fear because we didn't restart the whole Tomcat after adding the
driver, so we had lots of errors.
There is one thing that doesn't work properly though: the database
username specified in the configuration file hibernate.cfg.xml is not
recognized by the system. It uses the username "xwiki" as if it was
hardcoded. We have a naming policy for or DB users, so this is a
problem for us. It might be troublesome if we start mounting a
wikifarm but I'm not sure about that, you tell me. Should I file an
issue on this?
We are now making tests in a production environment and it seems that
everything works fine.
Thanks for the good job on XWiki. We'll keep you updated with the good
and bad news.

Hi,
I'm new xwiki user and recently just setup xwiki running on a Window server by downloaded the latest xwiki enterprise window installer. The problem I having here is getting the Backlinks Snippet working.
I follow the instruction using BacklinksSnippet feature link below.
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Code/BacklinksSnippet
Basically, I have a wiki page with three sections. The first two sections have the links and I created the third section "What Links Here" and insert the code provided above. However, it doesn't shows any wiki links leading to this page but message "No back links for this page!"
I checked the default installation directory and verified that the xwiki.cfg under C:\Program Files\XWiki Enterprise\webapps\xwiki\WEB-INF already have the following line below enabled by default.
xwiki.backlinks=1
Did I miss something here? Any advise to resolve this newbie problem is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Yinkee

Hi All,
i want use database list class as property in my class. I tried hibernate
query to fill in values of property. After this, the select box was empty.
I think there is no problem in query (Select doc from XWikiDocument as doc)
and I filled in value (doc.name) and id (doc.id) and also i filled in which
class should hibernate use. (XWikiDocument). I dont know, what I am doing
wrong. Is there some tutorial for this?
There is values which i filled in
Display type : select
Relational Storage: yes
Use Picker: yes
Size : 1
Sort: value
Hibernate Query:select doc from XWikiDocument as doc
XWiki Class Name: XWikiDocument
Id Field Name: doc.name
Value Field Name: doc.name
Thank you.
Hi,
I tried reading the documentation, though could not locate any help in
regards to a forgot password feature. Does XWiki currently provide such a
feature where if a user forgot their password they have it emailed to them?
Thanks,

Hi,
We are trying out XWiki, TWiki, DokuWiki and MediaWiki, to see which will
fit best in our organization as a general collaboration and information
tool, for both ever changing project work and documentation, and for more
static information.
One thing I need to find out, is if it is possible to disable the
ever-present "Comments" and "Attachment" fields on the bottom of every page.
Can they be enabled/disabled on a per page basis, or do they have to be
removed globally (if at all possible)?
I'd appreciate if other XWiki users can mail me some trips, tricks and
traps: What should I look for specifically to experience XWiki's strengths
over the others, and what do I need to be aware of to avoid its pitfalls (if
there are any)?
Best regards,
Robert Hercz / Teletopia
Hi,
How can I improve XWiki's spanish translation? The contributing page

Hi,
If I search when I log in (as Admin), when I search I receive results back.
However, if I log out and repeat the exact same search, the results page is
empty. What can I configure to allow people who have not registered to still
perform searches? I tried setting the space rights to "view" for
"XWikiGuest" for the space "XWiki", though this doesn't appear to work.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have the following problem with WebSearch: for some reason users without
admin rights cannot see the results of WebSearch.
The error message appears on the search page:
Topic XWiki.WebSearchCode does not exist Topic XWiki. Results does not exist.
If I’m being logged as admin, the WebSearch works fine. (it’s enough if I
login as admin after I sent the search request – the error messages
disappear and I get a table with the search results)
I tried to import XWiki.WebSearchCode and XWiki. Results once more from the
.xar archive. The import was successful, but it didn’t help.
I couldn’t find any conditions in the xwiki-code of
wiki/bin/view/Main/WebSearch, that would allow only admin-users to see the
search results
I'm running XWIKI (xwiki-web-standard-1.1.1) under OC4J on Linux server.
Thanks for any help.

I guess you need Eclipse Europa Fall or above if you want to use it as a
plugin.
Fabio, isn't that a prerequisites that we can set in the plugin so that
eclipse gives a nice warning?

Hi all,
Having trouble finding documentation on this, there is no mention in the
xwiki api documentation (none that I can find at least)
The idea is to add a tootip of the description field to the item's entry
so that a user can look at the calendar, hover over a users' name and
get the description as a tooltip.
Is there any simple way to add the description (or any field from the
object) to the title?
Something like $xwiki.calendar.calendarParams.put("attribute",
"title=description")

Just out of curiosity, which version of Eclipse are you using?
As Vincent already said, this is surely the reason why you get that
error.

Yes.
I will set the minimum required version in the plugin manifest so that
Eclipse will complain if this constraint is not met.

Hi,
When I click edit on a XWiki page and "Save and View" or "Save and
Continue", without making any changes, a new version number is
created. This is contrary to existing conventions in SVN, which will
intelligently check whether there are any modifications that would
warrant a new version number. Is this a fundamental different view of
the XWiki development team or is it a technical difficulty or simply
something that has not been implemented yet?
Also, why is the first version of a document 1.1 and not 1.0?
Thanks,
Andreas
