Hi,
I want to use the function Document.addAttachment(java.lang.String
fileName, byte[] data).
I don't get what information I have to give as second parameter: I've
checked in the API, and there isn't anything.

Please help me, how to do that? If anyone has xwiki code, please send to

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to add an attachment directly from a
comment... I looked into the commentsinline.vm and attachmentsinline.vm,
but I don't really find a way to modify those files to have something
similar to what I need.
Basically I want let users comment on a document and give them the
possibility to attach a file in their comments... did anyone do
something similar? Thanks!
Vito
Hi,
As far as I see, XWiki put a blank space after the lowercase letters of
a string. It is quite useful in many cases, but a pain in others. For
instance, LyX is renderized as Ly X. LaTeX as La Te X.
Is there anyway of avoiding this? Thanks!
Cheers,

Hi,
I spent last day with setting up the UTF-8 encoding in xwiki. I set
all thing according to offical guide, but i had question marks instead
of letters in my database. I realized that i must set up hibernate. So
I made some changes in my hibernate.cfg.xml file. I added these to
lines.
<property name="connection.useUnicode">true</property>
<property name="connection.characterEncoding">UTF-8</property>
it working perfect now. It may help to someone, who will have the same problem.

Hi,
I am currently trying to migrate a already populated xwiki from hsqldb
to mysql.
The first thing I noticed is, that xwiki needs lots of heap space for
attaching the
backup.xar to the import page. This xar is about 20mb, the wiki is not
that big, yet
the tomcat process consumes about 1Gb resident memory (2Gb in total)
while attaching
which leads to massive swapping and slowdown. I wonder what will happen, if
a wiki is really heavily populated with lots of attachements?
After the xar is attached, I cannot select it, because an exception occurs:
Wrapped Exception: Error number 2002 in 2: Error parsing xml
Wrapped Exception: Error on line 346 of document : Character reference
"" is an invalid XML character. Nested exception: Character reference
"" is an invalid XML character.

Hi everyone,
I don't think this news was shared with the community yet:
XPertNet's team (http://www.xwiki.com) has been selected by the French
Research Agency together with a set of partners for conducting a
research project for adding P2P and mobility capabilities to XWiki. This
project is called "XWiki Concerto".
The objectives are the following:
- design a fault tolerant P2P architecture for XWiki supporting large
scale collaborative editing on a set of peers that synchronize their
changes regularly using reconciliation algorithms,
- support mobility work: off-line capabilities and UI dedicated to
mobile handsets.
This project will allow to design a P2P XWiki farm that will scale at
much lower costs than classical solutions and will let XWiki users work
offline and from handsets with limited capabilities.
The set of partners are INRIA, ENST, Mandriva and EISTI. The project's
web site is http://concerto.xwiki.com. INRIA teams include ECOO
(Environments for COOperation) [1] and ATLAS [2]. ECOO team has
expertise in reconciliation techniques, ATLAS has expertise in P2P
databases. ENST team focuses on the mobility aspects. EISTI is bringing
security expertise. XPertNet, Mandriva and INRIA will experiment with
the solutions respectively in the context of the XWiki.com farm, the
Mandriva Club wiki and the OW2 wiki.
[1] http://www.loria.fr/equipes/ecoo/english/index.html
[2] http://www.sciences.univ-nantes.fr/lina/ATLAS/
We already delivered a first version of specifications and use cases but
it's in French:
http://concerto.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/download/Main/L2/xwikiconcerto-l2.pdf
We're currently designing a set of complementary XWiki APIs. I'll send
some proposals to the devs list in the next days. Your feedback will be
most welcome.
There will be many interesting synergies with XEclipse off-line work of
course. That'd be good also to investigate about the eRCP capabilities

Cheers

I have xwiki running within an existing frames-based system. Love them or hate them, I am unable to change the frames system. My problem is when editing with xwiki. When the edit button is selected the edit page opens in the parent window. Is the any way I can amend this? This issue only seems to occur when editing.

Hi again...
I am asking this after a thorough search on the Internet for a solution. I
got many answers but I couldn't understand how to do it. I know it is a very
basic problem but I want help...
I tested the Personal RSS by subscribing to a page but the link says 'Live
bookmark feed failed to load' and the error says the 'URL is not valid and
cannot be loaded'. I tried repeatedly to reach it in the bookmark manager
but I don't know how to do it...

Please, could you help me to find the right syntax to check if an user

I've been playing with the isUserInGroup method without success.
Thank you so much,

> Fair question. The reason it's not been applied yet IMO is because none
of the current committers are using LDAP and thus noboydy has taken the
time to learn how to set up a LDAP environment and test the patch.
As a side note, the JBoss Portal has a testing infrastructure for their
ldap integration using OpenDS. If someone wants to get serious about
integrating ldap into XWiki, that might be a good starting point.
> So what would help would be if you could apply the patch on a XWiki SVN
trunk version and verify it works fine and doesn't break anything
existing. Reporting that in the jira issue will help a lot and then one
of the committer could more easily apply the patch.
Basically, things work. I have checked authentication and mapping of ldap
groups to XWiki groups and will start to use this in production in a week
or two.
However, the comments that 'simple user' made in jira are all very valid.
There are edge cases where the code isn't correct, and it definitively
needs a review by someone experienced with XWiki internals. The author of
the patch, Gunter Leeb, already statet this, as he had to made a lot of
assumptions in the code.
>From looking at the code, there's a lot of "if xwiki.internal.isTrue(),
then everything should work" without else cases. For example I remember
something like xwikicontext.isVirtual(), where nothing is done if the
context is not virtual.
So, basically, I couldn't tell you anything more than others already did.
I will make a comment in jira once I had the patch running for a few
weeks.
Thanks,
Tobias
Hi...
I had imported the PersonalRSSFeed.xar for RSS on every page. Is it
necessary to add the name of the plug-in in the xwiki.plugins in the
xwiki.cfg file ? Is it
com.xpn.xwiki.plugin.PersonalRSSFeed.PersonalRSSFeedPlugin ?

I am in the latest stable release of XWIKI and am having issues porting
documents from windows docs (.xls, .doc, etc.) into the XWIKI front end.
Ideally I would be able to just cut and paste, however, XWIKI doesn't like
this very much. So I tried to turn the .doc's into html and paste that into
the WIKI editor. This works to an extent, that being the document shows up
as it should. However, I can't edit it in the WYSIWYG without destroying
the formatting of the doc. Some of the docs will be posted as attachments,
however, I would like to not have to do this for each doc. Is there an easy
way to port the MS Office documents into the XWIKI and be able to edit it
with the WYSIWYG? Also, is this issue fixed in the new beta? Finally, if
this is not possible, could somebody suggest other WIKI platforms to use?

Hi all,
I'm using the albatross skin: I've noticed that in the printed pages the
logo that appear on the top of the pages is the original XWiki logo,
even if I had already changed it (as explained on xwiki.org).
I've done a modification in the print.vm file, now the correct logo is
displayed. This is the section that sets the logo in my print.vm:
<div id="companylogo">
<a href="$xwiki.getURL("Main.WebHome", "view")" title="Home">
#set($logoname = $xwiki.getSkinPreference("logo", "logo.png"))
#set($logo = $!prefdoc.getAttachment($logoname))
#if(!$logo)
#set($logourl = $xwiki.getSkinFile($logoname))
<img src="$!logourl" alt="XWiki" width="200" height="70"/>
#else
#set($logourl = $prefdoc.getAttachmentURL($logo.filename,
"download"))
<img src="$!logourl" alt="XWiki"/>
#end
</a>
</div>
Hope this coudl be useful for everyone!

Ups ... I did it :-)
Using the hsqldb manager (it comes in hsqldb_1_8_0_8.zip) and a standalone connection to the database directory (C:\Archivos de programa\XWiki Enterprise\database\xwiki_db) ok the xwiki-enterprise-installer-windows-1.1.1.exe installer

Hi
The patch mentioned in the subject has been in Jira since April 2007. What
is the status of this?
I have seen
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/FilteringLDAPauthenticatedUsers
and it looks like everything is ready to be committed, but all that has
been done so far is that the 'fix version' for the Jira issue has been
pushed forward to the upcoming release a couple of times, without any
appearant consideration for inclusion by the XWiki people.
What's missing here? Does this patch get the attention from the Xwiki
developers that I think it deserves? Or is it simply not ready for
committing and needs more testing?
And most importantly: What can I personally do to speed up the inclusion
of this in the XWiki trunk?
Thanks,
Tobias

Hi,
working with http://old.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Test/ImportExport I
could make it work a bit, but when select a couple of documents and
press Export, the next output is shown:
$export.setWithVersions(false) $export.setAuthorName($author)
$export.setDescription($description)
$export.setLicence($licence)
$export.setName($packageName) $export.add($itemexp,
$xwiki.parseInt($defaultAction)) $export.add($itemexp,
$xwiki.parseInt($defaultAction)) $export.export()
IMHO it's not interpreting the code generated as a velocity macro and
just outputs the code contained in the page, so :
- did anyone had the same problem, and solved it ??
- cold anyone that make it work on top of 0.9 tell me about any changes
that are needed ??

Suppose I want to display '\\' in the page. But since it is a new line
command in the editor, it will be executed and take the next word to the
next line.
There must be some way to get to display it rather than execute it like the
way slash (\) is used in \' and \" to display the quotation marks ( ' , " )
in C++ for strings.

Hi.
I added a wrong class property into my class and I want to remove it. I
canceled the edit without saving and opened it again but it was still there.
Shouldn't there be a button like the one there is to remove an object ?

Hi,
I have created my own class. In a document, I'm able to create a object
of that class, write and read fields in that object, but I don't know
how to memorize this object in the database: I was looking on the
developer guide on xwiki.org and I found only this page

not complete, unfortunately for me).
Can anyone help me, please?

Hi all,
as anyone can see there's a first attempt to upgrade from v0.9 in
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HUpgradinganXWi…
The problem with this approach is that it just migrates the Java code,
but not the one inside the xwiki pages stored in the database.
In order to construct a strong and complete migration process I need
some help (as usual :-D), mainly :
* what pages/spaces contain code that is considered part of XWiki
distribution ??
* does anyone has success in making the code at
http://old.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Test/ImportExport work on 0.9 ??
* any other places to look at for other pieces of XWiki core that should
be added to the upgrade guide ??
Thx

Hi Richard,
you have simply to edit the CSS properties for the link color.

I have just installed the XWiki Enterprise Manager (XEM) and having
difficulty creating a wiki from a template. I already have a template

Hi folks,
On the panel menus when you click on a menu option the menu option is
'greyed' to indicate its been clicked on - only 'greying' it makes the menu
option difficult to read - can how much they are 'greyed' be adjusted? If so
can some one tell me how - some of users have complained about it - so I
want to keep them happy!!

Hi everyone,
I wrote a page with some code in it:
....SOME TEXT...
#foreach ($docum in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName("workgroups"))
#set ($name = $xwiki.split($docum,"_"))
#set ($isMeeting = 0)
#set ($i = 0)
#foreach ($word in $name)
#set ($i = $i+1)
#if (($i == 1) && ($word == "MT"))
#set ($isMeeting = 1)
#elseif ($i == 2)
#set ($date = $word)
#elseif (($i == 3) && (("WG_"+$word) == $doc.getName()))
Meeting [$date>workgroups.$docum] <br/>
#end
#end
#end
....SOME TEXT...
If I edit the page in wiki-mode, no problem. But if I edit the page in
WYSIWYG-mode, and then save it, the code is not working anymore.
Actually the same section become:
....SOME TEXT...
#foreach ($docum in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName("workgroups"))
#set ($name = $xwiki.split($docum,"_"))
#set ($isMeeting = 0)
#set ($i = 0)
#foreach ($word in $name)
#set ($i = $i+1)
#if (($i == 1) && ($word == "MT"))
#set ($isMeeting = 1)
#elseif ($i == 2)
#set ($date = $word)
#elseif (($i == 3) && (("WG_"+$word) == $doc.getName()))
Meeting [$date>workgroups.$docum] \\
#end
#end
#end
....SOME TEXT...
So, the character '_' is replace by '_'.
Any solution to this problem? Thanks!
Vito

I am able to change preferences of the entire wiki and a space. Can I make
preference changes to a specific page ? For example, if I do not want the

My wiki was working fine until today when I discovered that I couldn't

Also, from where can I get information about the file system ? That is,

II.) I' create a datasource (xwiki_ds.xml) that is similar to this one:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<datasources>
<local-tx-datasource>
<jndi-name>jdbc/XWikiDS</jndi-name>
<connection-url>jdbc:oracle:thin:@myserver.net:1521:XWIKITEST</connection-url>
<driver-class>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</driver-class>
<user-name>myname</user-name>
<password>mypass</password>
<metadata>
<type-mapping>Oracle10g</type-mapping>
</metadata>
</local-tx-datasource>
</datasources>
III.) JBoss load and found the datasource via JNDI and I can get connection to it - I've testet it with JBossTest.jsp (fragment shown below)
<%@ page import="javax.naming.*" %>
<%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
<%@ page import="javax.sql.*" %>
<%! private String connectionInfo = null; %>
<%! private Connection con = null; %>
<%! private Statement stmt = null; %>
<%! private ResultSet resultSet = null; %>
<%
try {
InitialContext ctxt = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctxt.lookup("java:/jdbc/XWikiDS");
con = ds.getConnection();
DatabaseMetaData metaData = con.getMetaData();
connectionInfo = "Database Name: " + metaData.getDatabaseProductName() + "<BR>" +
"Database Version: " + metaData.getDatabaseProductVersion() + "<BR>" +
"Driver Name: " + metaData.getDriverName() + "<BR>" +
"Driver Version: " + metaData.getDriverVersion() + "<BR>" +
"URL: " + metaData.getURL();
%>
<H1>Connected to Database</H1>
<P><%= connectionInfo%></P>
IV.) I've modified the hibernate.cfg.xml to
<hibernate-configuration>
<session-factory>
<property name="show_sql">true</property>
<property name="use_outer_join">true</property>
<property name="dbcp.defaultAutoCommit">false</property>
<property name="dbcp.maxActive">50</property>
<property name="dbcp.maxIdle">5</property>
<property name="dbcp.maxWait">30000</property>
<property name="dbcp.whenExhaustedAction">1</property>
<property name="dbcp.ps.whenExhaustedAction">1</property>
<property name="dbcp.ps.maxActive">20</property>
<property name="dbcp.ps.maxWait">120000</property>
<property name="dbcp.ps.maxIdle">20</property>
<property name="connection.datasource">java:/jdbc/XWikiDS</property>
<property name="dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.OracleDialect</property>
<property name="connection.provider_class">com.xpn.xwiki.store.DBCPConnectionProvider</property>
<property name="connection.pool_size">2</property>
<property name="statement_cache.size">2</property>
<mapping resource="xwiki.oracle.hbm.xml"/>
<mapping resource="feeds.oracle.hbm.xml"/>
</session-factory>
</hibernate-configuration>
but that didn't work. How I've to change the hibernate.cfg.xml the xwiki found the jndi external datasource?
I use another databaseuser than xwiki and that works if I put the database connection parameter in the hibernate.cfg.xml directly.
I get the following ErrorMessage:
09:13:33,000 INFO [STDOUT] 09:13:33,000 FATAL http-127.0.0.1-8080-1 http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/ DBCPConnectionProvider:configure:189 -

Hi
I have a couple of pages with strange names such as:
"sse String pour les op+rateurs + et +=^M^J* lvalue^M^J* alias, aliasing^M^J*
passage par valeur (copie)/WebHome"
It looks like the name is the result of some unintended action. The question
now is how do I remove this page (or space)?
I have a hard time doing it from the wiki with the scriptlet provided to
delete spaces (the parser is fooled by the special characters).
Note that it does not matter that much. I am upgrading the wiki, therefore if
I could remove that from the backup.xar it would be satisfactory.
For now I get an error which I assume is due to these weird names (the zip
file opens correctly):
I am upgrading to 1.1.1 and I used the 1.1rc1 export script to create the xar
file (from a database based on some old 0.9 schema modified manually as per
instructions on the wiki).

I did the same installation with Tomcat running as a Windows service with
exact the same result. Any idea?
Another strange thing is a problem with a wrong UTF-8 character inside the
xhtml.xsl reported by eclipse. Don't know, if this has any importance or if
it is an eclipse issue.
Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence.
<xsl:template match="li">
<fo:list-item>
<fo:list-item-label start-indent="0.1in">
<fo:block></fo:block> <!-- invalid byte -->
</fo:list-item-label>

<xsl:apply-templates select="a|b|i|ul|text()"/>
</fo:block>
</fo:list-item-body>
</fo:list-item>
</xsl:template>
I looked throu the mailing list archive, but did not see similar problems. I
just tried to install xwiki, so I still have no experience. Sorry, if I
missed something very basic.

Hi all,
I need to clarify whether I need a wiki farm for my office intranet or not
and I am asking you to give me solutions to some problems that I've
mentioned.
The scenario so far-
[1.] I downloaded xwiki-enterprise-installer-windows-1.2-milestone-1.exe and
installed the wiki into my computer.
[2.] I am using it to share data such as discussion topics, links to office
software tools and links to official documents.
[3.] I am using my computer as a server for access by other employees where
the wiki is running.
[4.] My access to the wiki pages is through 'localhost:8080' while others
are accessing it through the ip address (which when I enter in my own
machine gives me a page error). Now, when I make changes, I don't want to
always convert the ip address in the url into 'localhost' in the url bar...
so how I go about making changes more conveniently ?
[5.] Employees are registering themselves into the wiki but do not have the
edit privilege to edit specific pages where the documents are pasted. I do
not know how to go about doing that either...
Please give as much help as possible.
regards,
V. Harikrishnan Nair

Hi,
Don't know about using wiki farms, but I can access my wiki using my ip
address logged onto my Windows PC where the wiki is running - anyone else?
You need to read the admin guide to set access rights so your users can
access those specific pages that you mentioned.
Regards,
Richard

hi...
The XWiki page has a registration link through which I registered a new
user. But when I log in with that username and password, I get a message
saying that name/password is incorrect.
How do I rectify it and allow a large number of users (say 100) to use it ?
Thanks,
Harikrishnan

Hi there,
We are trying to migrate XWiki in our company from 0.9.840 to XWiki 1.1.x.
What is the best way to approach the migration? I have done some googling
but there is no obvious migration guidelines available.
We have created a new database and deployed the latest XWiki to the new
database. However now we have to export the data from 0.9.840 (which does
not have a export tool) to this new database (which I assume the database
schema is different from 0.9.840).
Just wondering if anyone can provide us some insights? If anyone has any
scripts written to export the data out from 0.9.840 (as a XAR or others),
that will be really helpful.
Thanks.

For the Page class in XML-RPC setContent() takes a string? What if I want to
pass it a file so that the contents of a file are uploaded into XWiki? How
or can I do that?
(PS. I'm writing the program in Java)
Thanks.
Hello,
In the Blog.Macros, I would like to test whether the content area ($content)
is empty. If the content is empty, I would like to make the content area
invisible. If it is not empty, I would like to make this area visible.
Is there a way to do this in xwiki?
Thank you for your time and help in advance!

Hi ,
I have downloaded the latest Xwiki source code and build it using mvn.
I have deployed the .war file (which was generated in xwiki-platform-web/
folder) into weblogic server and i have changed the hibernate-cfg.xml file
in web-inf/ folder, and i placed the oracle driver in lib.
then i stared the server and run the url http://localhost:70001/xwiki/ and
clicked on "Xwiki home page" link then its giving the following error.

I once pasted an article from MS Word to the WYSIWYG editor. I found all the
tab-spaces replaced by some unwanted characters. It was a real pain to
format the page after that.
Can there be a facility to allow formatting like MS Office or create a
plug-in for Open Office or something ?

Hi all,
This new 1.1 feature has been largely appreciated for our users! Thank
you so much.
But we are facing a situation I am not able to explain. In the same
XWiki installation (1.1 running on SuSE OES1 Linux and/or Mac OS X
10.4.10) some virtual wikis show the blue button at the top right of the
edition box correctly, thus Full Screen Editing Mode is available, but
other don't. The same is true while working with 1.2M1 installations.
I am not able remember/reproduce the steps causing this problem, but I
am pretty sure that all the wikis have shown this botton correctly when
created.
Please, could you figure out what is going wrong here? Are we changing
something, somewhere, affecting the availability of this button?
Thank you,

Would anyone have an example of using XML-RPC in Java to create a new page
in XWiki? I found an example that uses swizzle and Confluence shown below
import org.codehaus.swizzle.confluence.Confluence;
import org.codehaus.swizzle.confluence.Page;
import java.util.HashMap;
public class AddPageExample {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
String username = "david";
String password = "snarf";
String endpoint = "http://docs.codehaus.org/rpc/xmlrpc";
Confluence confluence = new Confluence(endpoint);
confluence.login(username, password);
Page page = new Page(new HashMap());
page.setSpace("SWIZZLE");
page.setTitle("Test Page");
page.setContent("This is a test");
confluence.storePage(page);
confluence.logout();
}
}
How different would the implementation for XWiki be?
Thanks.
Dear XWiki Users,
I'm again experiencing problems saving the preferences! After
reimporting everything, modifying pages and preferences, it works for a
while. At a certain moment the following error (only shown partly!)
appears:
Error number 3201 in 3: Exception while saving document
XWiki.XWikiPreferences
Wrapped Exception: Could not execute JDBC batch update
com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException: Error number 3201 in 3: Exception while
saving document XWiki.XWikiPreferences
Wrapped Exception: Could not execute JDBC batch update
at com.xpn.xwiki.store.XWikiHibernate.....
When taking a closer look at the xwikipreferences table of the xwiki
database using the PgAdmin tool I can't find anything wrong!
By the way, I use version 1.0.3342 of XWiki in combination with
PostgreSQL 8.2 DBMS!
I'm quite desperate, because the error seems to be unpredictable,
sorry!
Regards,
Gerard

Dear XWiki Users,
Currently I'm trying to apply the CaledarEvent application, and would
like to sort the events in the EventList by category, date and title.
I know how to execute the hql query (see below)!
#set($query="select obj.name from BaseObject obj, StringProperty tpro,
StringProperty cpro, DateProperty dpro where
obj.className='XWiki.CalendarEvent' and tpro.id.id=obj.id and
dpro.id.id=obj.id and cpro.id.id=obj.id and tpro.name='title' and
dpro.name='startDate' and cpro.name='category' and
cpro.value='Screening' order by cpro.value, dpro.value,tpro.value asc")
#set($results = $xwiki.search($query))
In a foreach loop the name of the object is displayed, but is there
also a way to access the objects itself? My problem is how to access the
sorted CalendarEvents from the query results?
The idea is to present the sorted eventList after the sort, and not in
the order of insertion like in the default XWiki.CalendarSheet!
Please can anybody give a hint? Thanks!
Regards,
Gerard

Hi,
The following call
http://mywiki/xwiki/bin/save/MySpace/MyPage?content=mycontent
adds the word 'mycontent' to the page MyPage. What if I want the content to
be a file? How do I do so and does the file have to be stored in a
particular directory and does it have to be in xml format?
Thanks.
Hi,
It appears that an Administrator is the only person that can Import/Export
pages into XWiki. Is there a way I can extend this functionality to other
users as well? If so how?
Your help is much appreciated.
Hi,
I succesfully installed xwiki on Tomcat using MySQL as database server. Now
I must install xwiki on Geronimo but after application deploy and
hibernate.cfg.xml configuration i get an error on the
/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome. The error seems due to database problems and
I was able to reproduce it on tomcat removing the mysql-connector or
inserting a wrong password in the hibernate.cfg.xml.
Is someone using Apache Geronimo or Websphere Community Edition with xwiki?
I found a document that describe an installation of the previous version of
xwiki on the previous version of Geronimo but it doesn't work on the new
release.
Thanks to all for help,
Bye,

Hello all,
I have some trouble using the following macros : "chart" and "mindmap".
I try to reproduce the examples given in the doc pages, but :
* for chart, the frame is drawn but not the chart nor the values (null
for the firt category)
* for mindmap, nothing is displayed at all
I noticed that in the preview, nothing is displayed but if the macro
doesn't exist, #badname is displayed (where bad name is what I wrote).
Am I missing something to use these very useful features ?
Thanks for your answers.
ps : I use xwiki 1.1.1.

Hi all,
I just changed my xwiki skin to Finch and I noticed my username
(superadmin) displayed on the top right corner as the line below -
$xwiki.getDocument($context.user).display("first_name", "view",
$xwiki.getDocument($context.user).getObject("XWiki.XWikiUsers", 0))'s
profile
Can this be resolved ?
And why can't I use pictures which are not of the specific size mentioned
(200x70) as my logo ?
thanks,
Harikrishnan

Hi everyone,
We have installed XWiki with Apache Tomcat and MySQL. We have noticed a
serious problem in that attachments disappear without warning. We are not
sure if this is perhaps a Mysql issue or something related to XWiki. Even
the history no longer shows the files having been attached.
Any ideas?
S.
V. Harikrishnan Nair,
There is a real lack of comprehensive knowledge of how to use XWiki objects
to query/update/delete/create information, and this is a real BOTTLENECK for
users to develop applications - I'm sure once this bottleneck is removed
there will be a real flood of development building applications with XWiki -
unfortunately I don't know anymore than you.

How do I use the properties Database list class and Database tree list class
? I tried looking for a manual.
I simply couldn't understand about what goes where...

Hi.
I'm still a newbie. I have installed Xwiki and learnt how to create forms
and form templates.
I still do not know how to get data from a form into a MySQL database and
vice-versa. What all do I require to know/learn ?
I have followed the installation steps but I would be extremely grateful
if anyone could give me the basic steps to enter data into and read from a
database using forms.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I'm trying to use the delete space code snippet I found on the xwiki.org
website. I got a Null Pointer Exception when deleting pages (even if I
have administrator rights on the wiki).
If I use other function on the documents (as, rename for example) they
work fine. Here is the code for the panel:
#panelheader('Spaces')
#if($request.space)
#if($request.confirm=="1")
#foreach($item in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName($request.space))
$xwiki.getDocument("${request.space}.${item}").delete()
#end
#else
[Confirm delete space
${request.space}>$doc.fullName?space=${request.space}&confirm=1]
<br>List of docs that will be deleted
#foreach($item in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName($request.space))
* $item
#end
#end
#else
#foreach($space in $xwiki.spaces)
$space \[[Delete>$doc.fullName?space=${space}]\]<br/>
#end
#end
#panelfooter()
I have also used the function checkAccess("delete"), and it returns
true, so I'm sure that I have right to delete the document.
Any idea of what's going on? Thanks!
Vito

Hi All,
Is it possible to implement flyout left/right hand column menus - so the
menus only appear when you hover the cursor to the left or right of the wiki
page? This would free up more viewing space on the wiki page.
I found http://www.washington.edu/webinfo/case/flyout/ that talks about
jscript implementation - but how could I integrate this with the menu panels
to implement it within XWiki? I don't know much about jscript or CSS but
maybe the web link here could help someone in the know to put this feature
into XWiki or maybe point me in the right direction?

Richard

Hi,
When I create a new page, I am given the option to create tags to help
annotate the document. However, my question is, how can I create
multiword tags? For instance, I would like a tag as "San Diego". What
xwiki does is break the tag into separate words, "San" and "Diego". How
can I inform xwiki to use "San Diego"?
Thanks,
Josh
I read up on JIRA about this issue. Since I configured the LDAP (which
works great), I now need it to be over SSL. I am not sure if it is
available in the current version or not (I downloaded the latest which is
1.1.1?) - and if not, how can I add in this patch? Did anybody do this
successfully?

Just started receiving the error below this week. Error originally
occurred when searching for text strings over 2 characters long, now
happens on any search. Assuming MySql related? Any ideas? Thank you.

I've installed the Enterprise Edition that embed a Jetty server and I can't
login into superadmin to restore backup. I used the 1.0 edition with no
problem and now with the last edition, superadmin account is not available
unless I uncomment the line which configure the superadmin password in
opensi.cfg file. The message is "Wrong password".
How can activate superadmin account ?

Hi there,
I'm trying to authenticate using NIS, but I have a problem related to
com.xpn.xwiki.user.impl.xwiki.XWikiAuthServiceImpl.
Given the next code :
public class NISAuthServiceImpl extends XWikiAuthServiceImpl {
public Principal authenticate(String userId, String password,
XWikiContext context)
throws
XWikiException {
log.debug(DEBUG + "NIS Authenticator Improved : " + userId );
...
}
authenticate is called each time a page is loaded.
If no authentiction is done the userId vaue show is null, but when
logging in it also is anull (and obviusly no login is performed).
Any clue on how to solve this ??
TIA

Hi XWiki friends,
Ludovic and I will be attending the Google Summer of Code mentor
summit at Google's MountainView headquarters in October so we thought
it would a nice opportunity to meet up with XWiki users/developers
and anyone interested in general.
The dates are between the 7th of October and the 11th.
Would some of you be interested in meeting up?
Would you know where we could set this up? Does any of you have some
spare room that you could lend for this event?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
An export bug! Which version? The Latest? We tend to use the import/export
facility for backups and for moving wiki data between secure networks rather
than faff around with backing up using the database - we need something easy
and straigh forward! So we really need the import/export facility to be bomb
proof especially mitgated up to newer versions of wikis. Ideally it would be
great to do incremental exports/backups and schedule backups overnight to
backed up network drives. This is an important area of XWiki providing
security of data to wiki users.
Regards,
Richard

Good catch. I'll change that. To be honest I don't know how to
migrate. I think Artem (who did the changes) has setup an automatic
migration system in place but that needs to be tested out.
If you're interested in testing it that would be great :)
Note: I've just discovered 2 serious bugs (there are probably more)
due to the heavy code changes: export don't produce valid XARs
anymore and attachments don't seem to work. This proves we need more
automated functional tests.
Thanks

Thanks Guido and Marc,
I could never find the real "root" directory with Jetty, so I scrapped that, installed Tomcat, put the index.jsp in the Tomcat root (Tomcat 6.0/webapps/ROOT) and it worked perfectly. As an added benefit, it seems Tomcat is a lot faster than Jetty.
I appreciate it,
