Has anyone given thought (or better yet, code) to displaying an Open
Document Format (ODF) document on an XWiki page? As I have recently
discovered, XML documents can be parsed with tools already in XWiki's
libraries, but formatting them is, of course, another question. Opening
a ZIP file is probably also a no-brainer, though I don't know offhand
how it's done.
This ought to be fairly simple, using a very standard XSL stylesheet, or
something similar. Of course, with XSL, a standard browser should be
able to display ODF formats itself, although the most commonly-used
browser doesn't fit that definition of standard...
The question may boil down to: is there an XSL stylesheet that formats
ODF as HTML? I think I'll go have a look, but if you know of one,
please don't hesitate to tell me.

I wass attempting to upgrade to the latest Beta of XWiki yesterday and I
loaded the WAR file into Tomcat under a new context and everything
worked. I then backed up my original context and moved the new install
to replace the old install. The system throws exceptions right from the
start about a Hibernate index conflict. I removed the new version and
replaced the old version. The problem remains. Can anyone suggest a way
to recover????

Thanks Frank and Billy,
After mailing I realized it wasn't so difficult to locate. :-)
Another question,
I want to include hit counter to each page basically for statistics purposes
The xwiki.org says integrated statistics is part of XWIKI.
But am not sure how to activate it.
Any pointers!

This is easy:-)
You go to the user profile document and click on 'Edit this page'.
A formular appears and on this you can change the password.
An user who is logged in can click on the name (original in the right upper corner)
and click on 'Modify the profile'.

Hi,
I have the latest version of xwiki ( xwiki-0.9.840 ) and I'm trying to use the xwiki Calendar, I've copied the proper page from xwiki.org and saved, the page displays correctly except the bottom part ( "New Event" ) where there should be some input text boxes, there's nothing there, just the labels and the "Add Event" button.
Am I missing something ? I've checked the plugin, it is enabled in xwiki.cfg, any other ideas ? Whant else should I check or should I do in order to make it work ?
Thanks for any help,
Billy
Hello,
I want to control access to certain pages of my local xwiki (9.840)
based on LDAP group that he/she belongs to. [I have already set up my
xwiki to use my company's LDAP for authentication]
How do I specify that in the rights editor? For example, if my LDAP
group name is say, "abc-xyz", what string should I add in the rights
editor?
Option A) XWiki.abc-xyz
Option B) abc-xyz ....etc
Option C) Not possible with 9.840?
Any others?
Rgds,
Mrudula

Hi,
Q1. How does one write a new property value to the database from any
generic XWiki page? XWiki's conventional method for inputting property
values for a document through the ClassSheet/etc. will not work in this
particular case.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q2. Also, let's say I create a class with XWiki's standard Class Creation
interface. Now I want to add an instance of this class. I go through the
standard process, and now am entering data values (viewing the ClassSheet)
for this particular document.
At this point in the process, how exactly is XWiki engaging the database?
What is going on behind the scenes? If someone can, please explain this
process more (e.g., what database connections are open, methods being
called, etc.)
Thanks!
Danielle

Hi,
I've developped a wiki with Mysql, and now that it's ready to go in
production I need to migrate to DB2. I'm running into troubles migrating
large strings present in the db, does anyone have either:
- experience and advices about doing that migration or
- a basic DB2 schema with the base data that I could feed in into a DB2 db
so that I can restart with a clean db
Many thanks,

Hello,
I am running XWiki 0.9.840. I am on Windows XP, using Tomcat 5.5.17
with MySQL 5.0.22. I dropped the .war and the application deployed
fine and the home page loads. However I cannot log in with

some errors being written to the console... in fact, there are WARNs

By the way, (since I can't respond directly to my August post), here is the
solution I finally worked out for HQL-driven, dependent selection lists,
should anyone else find it useful:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function loadSubcats(catsubcat) {
var jsloadlist = document.getElementById("selcat").value;
var actiongoto = "../apps/altdblcattest?catkey=" + jsloadlist;
document.location = actiongoto;
return (document.location);
theForm.submit();
}
//-->
</script>
<form name="catsubcat" method="POST"
onSubmit="document.location=loadSubcats(this); return false">
<%
loadlist = request.getParameter("catkey");
if (!loadlist) { loadlist = "null" };
remsubcat = request.getParameter("remsubcat");
if (!remsubcat) { remsubcat = "" };
%>
1 Add/Change Category
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<select id="selcat" name="selcat" onchange="loadSubcats()">
<%
println "<option value=\"error\">Select a category</option>";
sql = ", BaseObject as obj where obj.name=doc.fullName and
obj.className='XWiki.NavCatClass' and obj.name not like '%ClassTemplate'
order by doc.fullName";
sqlcat = xwiki.searchDocuments(sql)
for (item in sqlcat)
{
optcat = xwiki.getDocument(item)
selectvalue = optcat.name
if (!selectvalue.compareTo(loadlist)) { recall = " selected"; }
else { recall = ""; }
println "<option value='" + selectvalue + "'" + recall + ">" +
optcat.title + "</option>";
}
%>
</select>
</td>
<td>
<select id="selsubcat" name="selsubcat">
<%
println "<option value=\"error\">Select a subcategory</option>";
sql = ", BaseObject as obj, StringProperty as prop where
obj.name=doc.fullName and obj.className='XWiki.NavSubCatClass' and obj.name
not like '%ClassTemplate' and obj.id=prop.id.id and prop.id.name='parentkey'
and prop.value='${loadlist}' order by doc.name";
sqlsubcat = xwiki.searchDocuments(sql)
for (item in sqlsubcat)
{
optsubcat = xwiki.getDocument(item);
remselectvalue = optsubcat.name
if (!remselectvalue.compareTo(remsubcat)) { recall = " selected"; }
else { recall = ""; }
println "<option value='" + optsubcat.name + "'" + recall + ">" +
optsubcat.title + "</option>";
}
%>
</select>
</td></tr>
</table>
</form>
Of course, this solution is only partial. On it's own page, it works. The
rest of the implementation depends on your context (e.g., how to write
values to the database).

The next generation of Searchsay hello!

While editing a ClassSheet, XWiki shortcuts writing to the database with its
hot-coded input fields.
How can one explicitly write to the database in this context?
Rather than allowing the user to type one of the property's values into an
input box, I need the value to be extracted from the URL and directly
written to the database as the property value for this instance of my custom
class.
Inserting: $doc.displayEdit($prop, "{property name}", ${the getParameter's
new variable}) did not work.
Any suggestions?

Hi
Is there a macro or another device to generate Wiki pages automatically
(via API calls)?
For example, I pass a category name and 3 sub-categories and my macro
creates the pages in the namespaces I programmed, with the names I want.
Is something like this already available? Does somebody have a link at
hand? Some code snippet?
This will a must-have when the semantic plugin will become available.
Thank you,
Marc Lijour
We had customized a downloaded version of xwiki (9.840). We added a lot
of new links to the left hand pane. Everything is fine - except a small
cosmetic problem.
When I resize the window, the left hand pane gets superimposed on the
middle text and remains there even when restoring the window.
Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any solutions?

Hi,
Today I've noticed a small issue about the time on my server.
In fact when I compare the time on the history to the time from $xwiki.date, I
notice that there is 2 hours less.
In fact, $xwiki.date give me a result such as :
Wed Sep 13 17:48:09 CEST 2006
So I think that the difference is due to the fact that the history uses GMT
localtime whereas I've configure my server to "Europe/Paris".
We should have the same time for the history as the one I've configured.
Moreover I wonder if it is possible to display the time according to the user
time configuration ?

Hi all,
With XWiki v0.9840, I found it was impossible to define an access
right for a group that has a space character in the web name, e.g: "My
TestSpace.testGroup" .
The space character is used as a delimiter for specifying multiple
groups within a single access right entry. With URLs, XWiki does ' '
to/from '+' conversions, but this does not seem to work for group
names within access right entries (so entering
"My+TestSpace.testGroup" did not work).
I wanted to check this out on v0.9.1252. The new access right GUI
seems to get confused.
It generates the following 3 select box options from the one group:
<option value='My TestSpace.testGroup' label='My
TestSpace.testGroup'>testGroup</option>
<option value='My' label='My'>My</option>
<option value='TestSpace.testGroup'
label='TestSpace.testGroup'>testGroup</option>
The first one is correct, but if I select it and save the rights
object, under the covers it seems to select the two other options.
This means it seems I still cannot define an access right based on a
group which has a space character in its name.
I have raised this on jira as http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-345 .
Regards,
Robin
Hi,
I try to save a Java- object to the context with groovy:
<%
test=context.getContext().get("test");
if(test==null)
println "test is null"
else
println "test is not null"
context.getContext().put("test",new Object());
%>
If you reload the page the object should be in the context and the output
should be "test is not null". But unfortunately I get "test is null".
I also tried it with the Servlet-Context like this:
<%
scontext=context.getRequest().getSession().getServletContext();
test=scontext.get("test");
if(test==null)
println "test is null"
else
println "test is not null"
scontext.put("test",new Object())
%>
Then I get an exception: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
org/apache/catalina/session/StandardSessionFacade
This class is in the catalina.jar which is located in tomcat/server/lib and
the documentation of tomcat says: These classes and resources are TOTALLY
invisible to web applications.
I copied catalina.jar to WEB-INF/lib but then I get a ClassCastException:
java.lang.ClassCastException:
org.apache.catalina.session.StandardSessionFacade
I guess this is because of different ClassLoaders.
How can I save a Java-Object to a session?
Thanks

Hi,
this is maybe the 3rd time I've built from source since using xwiki, but having difficulty this time with the clover licence:
[javac] error: error reading ./xwiki/lib/clover.license; error in opening zip file
I have jdk1.5.0_05 and ant v1.6.2; And, I'm pointing $ANT_HOME/lib to the ./lib/ directory underneath xwiki/trunk/ that I downloaded, so:
[tom@shazam xwiki]$ ls -l $ANT_HOME/lib/ | grep junit
-rw-r--r-- 1 tom tom 112249 Sep 11 16:16 junit-4.1.jar
[tom@shazam xwiki]$ ls -l $ANT_HOME/lib/ | grep clover
-rw-r--r-- 1 tom tom 1527851 Sep 11 16:16 clover-1.3.9.jar
-rw-r--r-- 1 tom tom 5591 Sep 11 16:16 clover.license
I do this:
svn checkout svn://svn.forge.objectweb.org/svnroot/xwiki/xwiki/trunk ./xwiki
...and type 'ant'. I've tried -debug and a few other targets from the build file, but always get the clover licence error. And, I looked on the cenqua website for help.
Is anyone else getting this or can tell what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for any help!

Hi,
I'm attempting to do a little AJAX-type stuff and I need a way to grab
just the contents of a particular page without all the headers, sidebars
and footers, but with the standard rendering (tags, plugins, etc) working.
Basically, if I have a page "Main.testpage" containing this:
I am some [somelink>text].
I'd like to be able to make a javascript call to some url and get the
rendered page:
I am some <a href="somelink">text</a>.
(Notice there's no headers, menus, edit buttons, etc.)
I've been looking into the xwiki source. I was hoping there was something
like a "justcontents" action (ie
"http://sitename/xwiki/bin/justcontents/Main/testpage"), but there doesn't
appear to be.
I found the xmlrpc interface, but there's a few issues to overcome, one of
which is that I'd somehow have to get and store the username and password
in the javascript (on the client side) to make the login token for the
getPage() function.
If there is nothing simple built-in, and xmlrpc is the only way, is there
a good way around the password issue? (or even how to get the password)?
Anyone try something similar? Am I going about this in the entirely wrong
way?
Thanks,
-Tom

Hi
I want to retrieve the "title" of the document - which is added in the "title" field just above the document content editor field.
I can use something like $doc.getTitle() in the default document (in English). But when I use it in French it gives me the title of the English (default) document.
I tried a couple of other functions from the Api but I can't find the right one. I am sure there is a way to retrieve this information but I don't know how.
I am using Xwiki unstable (1252 on Jetty and HSQL). And I appreciate your help.

I know that there are lots of ways to do this, but I'd like to know if
anyone has a simple way to display all or part of an arbitrary page in
an XWiki document.
I don't have a really concrete example at the moment, but things I have
wanted to do in the past involve such things as:
- putting a display on users' profile pages of their company directory
lookup page (which is not in the wiki), either included directly (not so
nice) or dissected so that its DOM elements can be extracted and the
desired ones reformatted as a part of the page (much better)
- posting a table of contents for a reference document, or a table
within it, so that I can link directly to the heading or table entry and
users need not go to the document and search for the specific
information - without having to code each reference by hand, of course
I'm pretty sure I know how, using either Javascript or the Java DOM
methods supplied with XWiki, to parse and display the information when I
get it, but how to go about getting XWiki to fetch the included document
seems to escape me. I know that various things such as the feed plugin
do this, and I'll probably go to the source to learn how if I don't get
an easier answer. But I hope that someone has done this already and has
found an easy way to do it.

Hi,
First of all, I want to thank the developers of this nice piece of software,
I think it is really usefull, I just
need some time to sort everything out...
I was trying to change the skin of my xwiki page just by copy pasting
information from another xwiki.
My version 0.9.1270c =
http://koen.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/MySkin?xpage=editobject
Version I want to copy from: 0.9..1252e =
http://soal.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/MySkin?xpage=editobject#soal
When I try to copy paste the information given over there, the MySkin form
of my wiki is different then the one
used on the other wiki. On my wiki it stops with the basic skin textbox
My wiki doesn't have the fields: stylesheets.vm / httpheader.vm / ad.vm /
Xwiki.css / pagefeed.vm
I don't know why this is? does my wiki has the wrong version number, I would
suppose that mine is newer then the one
I want to copy from?
I really like the layout and things used on the other wiki, but I don't know
how to adjust it onto my wiki?
(yeah I want to copy paste it and then try to adjust it to my needs). For
example the dojo stuff
http://soal.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Code/DojoInXWiki is quite impressive if
this should work fine with xwiki!
I like the xwiki system, It only takes some time to understand how to
configure everything. I don't really get the
object editor thing. For example if I want to make a form to add save
contacts on my xwiki, how can I add a page
with a form with things like: name , adress, phone, etc and then a button to
submit it and then show all my contact data on
another page?
thx

Hi,
We have just upgrade xwiki.com to version 0.9.1252 (available on
ObjectWeb). If you are users of XWiki.com and you see anything special
that could be caused by the upgrade, please contact us at
support-en(a)xwiki.com
Version 1252 has many changes under the hood and some in the user
interface. The main changes from a user/admin perspective are:
- the new WYSIWYG editor which is compatible with Wiki syntax.
- the Rights page which now contains select fields
The WYSIWYG Editor is still in beta state. It is not activated by
default but can be called using the "switch to WYSIWYG Editor" link in
the edit page. You can activate the wysiwyg editor by default in the
XWiki Preferences in the "editor" section.
Under the hood, maybe other changes are now available including better
performance by generating less queries to the database. New plugins and
APIs are also available for programmers. We will talk more about these a
little later when we officially release this version.
We are now working to integrate:
- AntiSpam measures (using JCaptcha)
- as a new registration and invitation system which should be more easy
to use and flexible.
- editing by sections
We will of course all fix any bugs in the features of 1252 and work is
also in progress for a new layout and skin.

Hello
did anyone succeeded in installing XWiki with HSQLDB and Jetty?
I am asking because this looks like the development default setup (as seen in
SVN, where a test case exists), but I can't find the way to make it work.
For example, how do I import the database? Where is the XML file to import? Is
there an ant task which does that (importdb seems not to work out of the box
and I don't find the configuration doc)?
Thanks,
Marc
Perhaps slightly off-topic:
Our poor overworked sysadmin has been having the devil of a time keeping
up with the content of robots.txt. Since this file is public
information by nature, I had no problem composing a useful one for him
for our XWiki instances - simply copied from the one at xwiki.org - but
he needs the same information for all the other apps deployed to his
Tomcat servers. Of course, he could do the same thing with the others,
if there were known to be accessible instances, but it really is outside
his normal purview, and it occurred to me that this is naturally a
component of an application's deployment.
So, my question is: Has anyone thought of putting an application's
description of searchable paths into a deployable file, to be appended
to (or better, merged into) robots.txt? and if so, is there a
more-or-less standard way of doing it? Less interesting at the moment
is: when will XWiki do this also? and is this JIRA fodder?

Are you sure you can connect to your LDAP using your credentials?
I suggest to install some ldap client on your xwiki machine (e.g.
ldap-utils) and try to connect to LDAP with entered in xwiki.cfg values.
Taking your config try something like that:
> authentication.ldap=1
> authentication.ldap.server=blr-ec-dc01.wipro.com
> authentication.ldap.port=389
> authentication.ldap.check_level=1
> authentication.ldap.base_DN=dc=wipro,dc=com
> authentication.ldap.bind_DN=uid=wipro\<< my user id>>,ou=USERS,dc=wipro,dc=com
>
> authentication.ldap.bind_pass=<<my password>>
> authentication.ldap.UID_attr=Mrudula Madiraju
> authentication.ldap.fields_mapping=name=Mrudula Madiraju,last_name=sn,first_name=givenName,fullname=displayName,mail=mail,ldap_dn=dn
ldapsearch -h blr-ec-dc01.wipro.com -p 389 \
-D 'uid=wipro\<< my user id>>,ou=USERS,dc=wipro,dc=com'
-b 'dc=wipro,dc=com' \
-x -W \
'(<UID_attr>=<xwiki loginname>)'
As you can see I've used in search filter '<UID_attr>', becaues I
suppose that you don't have a field named 'Mrudula Madiraju' in you
LDAP ;-). If your ldap was Active Directory you would have
authentication.ldap.UID_attr=sAMAccountName
in xwiki.cfg, and search field
(sAMAccountName=<xwiki_loginname>)
in your ldapsearch test.

Hello,
I believe you can use the copyDocument() method. I use it to rename pages, I copy a document to a newly named document, then delete the old one.
All objects and attachments are also copied in the process, so that may interest you (as far as all objects are included in the template document I believe)

I was wondering if it is possible to reference an xwiki document as source
for a FreeMind graph.
I have tried the following:
1) XWiki.TestMindMap document: a valid ".mm" freemind file -- obviously,
viewing this xwiki document causes Tomcat to complain.
2) XWiki.TestMindMap2 document:
[I have included the directive "xpage=raw" to stop XWiki from processing the
file before sending it to Freemind]

But this does not work; I get from the Java Console:

Any hint?

I just tested on my side, I have the same problem than you, the attachments copy fails. In fact it seems that attachments creation in the new page fails. (I only tested once)
I'm certain that I could have it work during my first tests of page copy. I don't have time to test again, but I think sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ...
In my case the attached files are listed in the copied page, but if you click on one you get an exception. And I can't delete the page at all for the same reason (database exception, a row cannot be found in the attachments table).
By the way I had some problems with attachments, apart of pages copy, but with the same exceptions returned, and in a random fashion ...

Attachments don't seem to copy with this method - I get a wrapped exception error:
The size of the attachment is around 20k.
Comments are fine, as are other objects (at least the one's I've tried).

In that case it should be pretty easy, if you have console access to
domain controller. Try 'ldifde' command line tool with filter
"(sAMAccountName=<your_login_name>)"

Hi.
We are using xwiki for almost two years (as internal knowledge base) and
although we still have some problems - thank you very much for all you
work, I hope we will be able to solve some paining issues ;-), I'm
pretty determined to dig until success, I count on your help and promise
to give sufficient feedback.
Our main problems are:
* broken PDF export (generated null-byte files)
* broken search on non-latin1 characters (that I'll describe in separate
thread)
Hera are the details
My platform is:
tomcat 5.5.17 running in locale pl_PL.UTF-8
JDK 1.5.0
mysql 5.0 with default charset UTF-8 (and DB in UTF-8 too).
xwiki.war 9.840, but the same bahaviour is on latest SVN trunk.
I suppose that problem with PDF export has something to do with UTF-8.
I'm pretty sure I have UTF-8 configured properly (xwiki.encoding in
xwiki.cfg and filter in web.xml), non-latin1 characters are being properly
written to and read from database, are also properly rendered in xwiki
pages. When I click PDF export link (even viewing document containing
only ASCII characters) I receive an empty file and some entries in
catalina.out:

Do you any have any idea what can be the cause of this exception?
I suppose that
' <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">'
has nothing to do, although I don't know why lang, content-type and
charset are derived both from templates/httpheader.vm and
xwiki->preferences.
I hope I will be able to run it under eclipse soon, maybe I find the
problem....
Best regards,
Richard.

Subject: RE: [xwiki-users] "Clone" another documents objects when creating a new document
Jeremie (and Ludovic):
I don't know whether this has been fixed yet, but in 0.9.840 if you copy a user's profile page (the one created by XWiki.createUser()) the object copy fails silently (transaction aborted). If your code examines the copied document immediately from the same session, without clearing the cache, it looks right, but after calling $xwiki.flushCache(), or viewing the document from any other session, only an empty template shows, with no XWiki.XWikiUsers object to display and no XWiki.XWikiRights objects.
The object copy fails because one of them - the XWikiRights object for XWiki.XWikiAdminGroup, which was created by XWiki.ProtectUserPage() when the user was created - contains a field "levelsye" which is not in the current schema for objects of class XWiki.XWikiRights, which names the field "levels" instead. And it also doesn't matter if the user was created by your wiki instance after installation or if it came built-in with the database installation; the default users are also corrupted this way.
I must apologize: I probably should have filed a bug on this, but I didn't. It wasn't initially clear to me what the status of it was, and since the job I was trying to do was my major priority, I didn't take the time to find out. But I think it's two bugs - actually three from the standpoint of the delivered product - because the database load contains the result of one of the errors in the code:
- first, the root cause: XWiki.ProtectUserPage creates an XWiki.XWikiRights object with a "groups" field with value "XWiki.XWikiAdmin", a field named "levelsye" with the value from its userRights parameter, and "allow" value of 1. This object cannot be copied to another page, because the "levelsye" field is not in the current schema for XWiki.XWikiRights.
- second: the 0.9.2 database upload contains the result of this problem in all of its built-in user profile documents. I had thought that this was the source of the problem, and that all new users simply had the defective rights object copied from one of those, until I discovered the above problem.
- finally, the resulting problem that I had when changing XWiki's authentication scheme, which required existing users to be renamed: When the attempt (within XWiki.copyDocument()) to add the new object to the new document fails because of the above, no error indication is given, and the document copy transaction doesn't abort, roll back or return a failure status. Moreover, the cache (at least for the current session) now holds a copy of the new document, composed as expected, so any attempt by the calling page to verify the copy without first flushing the cache seems to succeed.
I think I asked whether my characterization of this problem was correct, but didn't get a response. Probably I should simply have filed it as a bug and let the developers correct me if I was wrong. To avoid a problem of this sort in the future, I think that perhaps the best protocol would be that I file it unless someone objects; that would make sure that it was accounted for.

I deployed xwiki 0.9.840 in eXo 1.0.1. To customize the wiki, I created the
eXo user Admin/admin and created two Categories. (See
http://193.196.117.26:8080/portal and log in as Admin/admin)
Now I wanted to create a new entry in the category "Biography" so I clicked
on "Biography" in the left menu and added the title of the new entry and
clicked "Add this news".
This resulted in a "not found" error, simply because the button invoked
http://193.196.117.26:8080/inline/Main/PageName?parent=Main.WebHome&templat…
which doesn't exist.
The same happens when I click on any of the blue tabs in the top of the
wiki. For instance, "Home" refers to
http://193.196.117.26:8080/view/Main/WebHome even though the real web home
of the Wiki is located at
http://193.196.227.26:8080/portal/faces/private/Admin/home/community/wiki.W…
When I click on "WebHome" in "Recently visited" on the right side, it works.
So I am wondering: how can I create a new news item? Anything?
Does it have to do with the "Root space name" which is by default set to
"Main"?
Thanks
s.
I can't explain this, but I just tested a few cases and found that it works
if you use this format:
<!-- test test test test --->

error (and empty document) http content-type is changing from
application/x-pdf to text/html.

If the wiki syntax is not activated (?) inside a form, we can simply use that as a feature not a bug...

I will try it.

Does the comment have to be sent to the browser?
Velocity has comments (## comments a single line and #* *# comments a
block), but the text will only be visible when viewing or editing the code
and won't be sent to the browser.

FYI:
If one is to insert an HTML comment at the end of a document and save it,
the rendered document is completely garbled.
e.g.
<input type="text" name="title" value="page name" size="18"/>
<input type="button" value="Create this Space" onclick='if
(updateName(this.form.title,this.form.name)){ action="../../inline/" +
this.form.webname.value + "/" + this.form.name.value; this.form.submit(); }'

I was wondering what is the purpose of the XWD_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE field in the
xwikidoc table.
I tried entering a document name (e.g. test.template) assuming that when I
created new documents in the same space (in this case "test") XWiki would
include "test.template" document. I did not to my dismay.
The reason I am asking this question is because I am currently analysing the
architecture for an "artifact manager" application for XWiki. Having a
default template functionality applicable per web space would be one less
function to implement for me.
====
The Artifact Manager would enable the support for things like Product &
Feature Management with management rights per web space (i.e. Product Web
Space, Feature Web Space). This is my target first step but the Artifact
Manager could be extended to include Bugs (i.e. non-compliance) & Use Cases
Management for example.
I also intend to implement categorisation functionality applicable per Web
Space; this functionality is useful for managing a user-friendly navigation
through a Web Space.
Anybody interested in this work, let me know.
Jean-Lou.

We just completed a conversion from XWiki to TWiki because of the numerous
limitations of XWiki (really awful to understand permissions system, slow
pace of development, lack of plugins, horrid look and feel, etc.). We
initially tried to convert the syntax to TWiki using perl with
Parse::RecDescent. Since the grammar is rather unstructured and
regex/exception based this isn't an easy thing to do. We were successfully
in hacking up a version of XWiki/Radeox that outputs the XWIki syntax as
TWiki syntax. Since this uses the native structures inside the original java
code the conversion is much cleaner.
If anyone else is migrating from XWiki to TWiki let me know if you'd like
the code to batch convert the whole wiki at once. I'm happy to save others
the pain of doing this themselves.
As an aside, I am dismayed at the slow progress of XWiki in the time we have
been using it (over a year and a half). I was also quite appalled when I
started digging into the code to this, it's messy, undocumented, and rife
with duplicate logic.
Hello,
I did as you suggested and issued the following mysql command:
update `xwikidoc` set XWD_ARCHIVE=NULL WHERE
XWD_FULLNAME="Direction.QuifaitquoiIrm"
however, i still get the nearly same error. This time it doesn't
complain it can't parse 'oma.be', it complains it can't parse '' (yes,
the empty string, at line 0 column 0)
How do i cleanly remove the archive?
Hi,
In order to possibly improve our database support in the future, I would
be interested to discuss with any users that have ported XWiki to other
databases than MySQL.
We are especially interested by databases used by corporations like
Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server.
Would any of you that have ported/tried to port XWiki to another
database tell us what has worked/not worked and what they have done.
That would be great help.
Since we now have the default database of XWiki as XML, we have the
possibility to write a script to load this in any database.
We just need to make sure that the core behavior of the storage engine
is compatible with the target database.
Thanks
Ludovic

Hi All,
Managed to work out most issues from a previous email, however I'm still
stuck on two elements of the problem:
1) How to add objects dynmically from another object after creation (for
eg, getting a document object and looping through the objects to add
it's objects to the new document - can loop fine, but adding more does
not seem to be working right)
2) Sending an email to a user when a particular update is done to the
document (user clicks on approve/decline for example). This assumes the
email address is correctly entered.
Any pointers/suggestions would be welcome!

One more precision. Given that the problem is due to the fact of having
an '@' in the 'n' last characters of a document. 'n' being the number of
'@' in your document.
If you really want to create a wiki page with a lot of '@', just add a
paragraph of text at the end of your document and you will be safe.

Hello,
The xwiki here has awfully broken on a webpage. The content we get
instead of the page is as shown bottom. We are using XWiki Version
0.9.840 on top of a mysql installation. We are wondering what this mean.
Only suspectable problem is this part "Parse error at line 393, column
248. Encountered: oma.be", oma.be being our domain name, i guess there
is a @ before that the parser don't like. But we don't have any damn idea
- what parser
- where this is in document (we can't edit the file)
- how to fix it
requesting help, no idea what is going down.

I have a space where users dont have to login/register to view/edit/delete.
However when I assign the rights view,edit and delete to the space, the user
is still required to login to delete a page in the space (they can view and
edit fine without logging in). If I also include "admin" which I dont want
to do, the user no longer needs to log in to delete the page.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

Hi!
I'm working on some cool functionality, so that if you click on a "category"
option from the first database-driven selection list, the second select list
loads with keyed "subcategory" options.
Right now, there are two problems that occur just after the form is posted:
1) The page is not recalling the first value selected. For some reason,
the "#if ($selectvalue == $loadlist) ..." section below is always evaluated
to false. I've tried variable :) approaches so far, without success.
2) The page should also be executing Velocity's if ... else code for the
second query and load the subcategory options properly at this point, but it
does not. Instead, the 2nd select box is displayed without ANY options.
Current code:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function loadSubcats(theForm) {
var jsloadlist = document.getElementById("selcat").value;
var actiongoto = "../apps/dblcattest?catkey=" + jsloadlist;
document.location = actiongoto;
return (document.location);
theForm.submit();
}
//-->
</script>
<form method="POST" onSubmit="document.location=loadSubcats(this); return
false">
<%
loadlist = request.getParameter("catkey");
if (!loadlist) {loadlist = "null" };
%>
1 Dependent Category Selection Test
<select id="selcat" name="selcat" onchange="loadSubcats()">
#set ($hqlcat = ", BaseObject as obj where obj.name=doc.fullName and
obj.className='Doc.NavCatClass' and obj.name not like '%ClassTemplate' order
by doc.fullName")
#foreach ($item in $xwiki.searchDocuments($hqlcat))
#set ($optcat = $xwiki.getDocument($item))
#set ($selectvalue = $optcat.name)
#if ($selectvalue == $loadlist)
#set ($recall = "selected")
#else
#set ($recall = "")
#end
<option value="$selectvalue" $recall>${optcat.title}</option>
#end
</select>
<br>
<select id="selsubcat" name="selsubcat">
#if (${loadlist} == "null")
{
<option value="error">--</option>
}
#else {
#set ($hqlsubcat = ", BaseObject as obj, StringProperty as prop where
obj.name=doc.fullName and obj.className='Doc.NavSubCatClass' and obj.name
not like '%ClassTemplate' and obj.id=prop.id.id and prop.id.name='parentkey'
and prop.value='${catkey}' order by doc.fullName")
#foreach ($item in $xwiki.searchDocuments($hqlsubcat))
{
#set($optsubcat = $xwiki.getDocument($item))
<option value="${optsubcat.name}">${optsubcat.title}</option>
}
#end
}
#end
</select>
</form>
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!
Danielle

Hi,
I'd like to change my skin but by defining the skin as described in the
documentation doesn't works...
By starting I need to change only the logo, so I've created the RomaSkin
with the following lines:
@import "xwiki.css";
@import "wiki.css";
@import "page.css";
@import "rss.css";
/* Logo */
#xwikilogo img {
background-image: url("http://www.OrienTechnologies.com/roma/roma_logo.gif
");
}
But nothing appears. Why? Thanks

Ludovic,
No dish can please everyone. I would like to say something in balance.
I have used XWiki for over one year, I respect and appreciate the XWiki team very much! I have built several XWiki sites and they all are used by many. (especially our EITC2006 site)
Every time we have a problem, we found support. That is why I could convince my team to keep using XWiki. I really enjoy seeing the growth and improvements of XWiki.
Yes, we need more features, we need better performance, we need better look and feel, but 'we' will make it happen. I could not make contribution in codes, but I have been telling lots of people about XWiki. A growing community will produce a strong Open Source solution. From what I have seen, I know this is the right place to be.
Keep up the good work. Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Wei-hsing Wang

Hi,
I am trying to make XWiki work with UTF-8. I found the necessary
settings in the following document:
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Dev/CharactersSets
This seems to work fine. I can edit a text and eg. insert geman
"umlaute". But as soon as I edit this text with the WYSIWYG Editor, the
"umlaute" are replaced with some kind of question mark.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi,
another problem with Unicode:
When I search for a text string containing eg. german "umlaute" (äü
etc.), I get a velocity error (see below).
There seems to be a problem passing the text entered in the search form
to the search page. I tried searching for "äü" both on my and the
xwiki.org installation.
With my installation, the parameter "text" (given in the URL) is set to
text=%C3%A4%C3%BC
This is wrong. On xwiki.org it is:
text=%E4%FC
The velocity error (note the strange characters near the end):
Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page Main.WebSearch
Wrapped Exception: Invocation of method 'searchDocuments' in class
com.xpn.xwiki.api.XWiki threw exception class
com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException : Error number 3223 in 3: Exception while
searching documents with sql where doc.web like '%äü%' or doc.name
like '%äü%' or doc.content like '%äü%' order by doc.date desc
Wrapped Exception: could not execute query
Thanks,
Michael

Hello,
I have been putting a lot of time into researching and testing wiki's to use
for a work and document collaboration intranet for our non-profit
organization that has highly non-technical users. After tested hosted wikis
and installing about 4 different wikis (mediawiki, pmwiki, wikkawiki, etc)
on our hosted web server (startlogic.com), and not being happy, I tried a
xwiki.com wiki and I like the functunality and features. It does not seem
possible to install xwiki on a hosted web server (correct me if I am wrong)
, so I have some questions about the free xwiki I am currently using:
1. How much storage space does it offer per file and for the the whole
wiki? What other limits are there to the free version? As an under-funded
non-profit we are unable to afford a professional hosted version.
2. I am a big fan of hosted services (gmail, salesforce, writely, etc.) but
xwiki.com is not quite that large and known of a service host. If we
actually decide to built our intranet on xwiki.com, will we run into
problems with downtime? How high are the risks of the servers being shut
down and losing all critical data?
3. Currently we are without time or resources to setup our own server, but
eventually may want to set up our own server to run it. Will it be possible
to port our hosted xwiki onto our own server without losing data?
Thank you so much for your help on this matter

What's the proper way (if any) to get a piece of text rendered in the
context of another document?
One of my users has created aggregate pages that include fields of
objects from other documents, rather like XWiki's blogging feature.
However, when one of these object fields references attachments in their
containing documents, these references (via the {image} macro) fail when
rendered in the context of the aggregate document. I have tried
replacing the direct reference to the field with
$includedDoc.getRenderedContent($includedObject.text), and a few other
tricks, like XWikiContext.setDoc with the XWikiDocument object of the
objects' home document, without success.
I can, of course, have him qualify the references to the attachments so
that they are absolute (at least, relative to the wiki rather than to
the referring document), but that's not nice.
brain[sic]
The problem seems to be that elements.css is no longer loading correctly:
http://openmpt.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/skin/XWiki/MySkin/elements.css
It is imported by xwiki.css :
http://openmpt.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/skin/XWiki/MySkin/xwiki.css .
This seems to be happening to at least one other wiki, which I believe
is also on the "pro" system:
http://eitc2006.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/skin/XWiki/MySkin/xwiki.csshttp://eitc2006.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/skin/XWiki/MySkin/elements.css

Hi,
I am looking for ways to automate some important parts of the XWiki
administration. We are using LDAP, so user provisioning is not a problem.
We need to
- - create groups
- - manage the members of the groups (add, possibly delete)
- - create spaces
- - set the rights for a web (to a group or a user)
I first thought that this was a job for XML-RPC, but the developers'
page says that only the documents functions of the confluence RPC API
are implemented (http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Dev/XWikiXMLRPC).
So I think this means this has to be done in Java or Groovy (maybe using
a wiki page and passing the user/group/space using parameters).
However, at this point I am completely lost.
How can this be done? I am not even sure about the steps necessary to
achieve this ...
Or can this done more easily? Maybe create group pages dynamically by
querying an SQL server or something like that?
I would be thankful for any directions - steps necessary, sample
implementations, actually any kind of Java (or Groovy) script using the
XWiki API.
Thanks,
Michael

One of the listed features of the 0.9.1252 release was the ability to edit sections of a page rather than the whole page. I have upgraded my test server to this version (using the previous database) but do not see how to enable partial edits (or how to define a section). If someone is using this feature can you provide information on how to use it.
Thank you

Hi, I recently installed XWiki Version 0.9.840, and when I go to edit, there is no wysiwyg option. Is this a setting i need to turn on, a module, or an installation problem? No really sure where to look to give more info, except i followed the following instructions (one note, there wasn't "xwiki.store.hibernate.updateschema=1" option in my xwiki.cfg file:
Note
 This install documentation is for most Linux installations, with Tomcat and MySQL standard
downloads from the Apache and MySQL web sites.
Pre-requisites
 Download and install Apache Tomcat 5.0.28 or 5.5.9
 Download and install MySQL 4.1 (works also with 4.0)
 Download the latest XWiki version
 Download the latest XWiki database
Instructions
 IMPORTANT For versioning of international characters to work, you need to launch your tomcat
engine with -Dfile.encoding=iso-8859-1 and add LANG=fr_FR.ISO8859-1 as an environment variable.
The test database contains international characters so you need these settings. For a UTF-8 setup
please check Characters Sets
 Copy xwiki-0-x-yyy.war and rename it to xwiki.war in the tomcat/webapps directory (rename before
copying if tomcat is already running).
 Create the xwiki database in mysql using the command "create database xwiki" from mysql command
line client
 Grant mysql access with the following command: grant all privileges on xwiki.* to xwiki(a)127.0.0.1
identified by 'xwiki' ; (if you get connections problems try localhost instead of the IP address)
 Download xwiki-db-x.zip and unzip it. Import the mysql dump into the 'xwiki' database using "mysql -u
xwiki -pxwiki xwiki < xwiki-db-x.txt" from command prompt
 If you decide to use a different password or a different machine than the web server machine for you
database, edit hibernate.cfg.xml to change the database configuration.
 Launch tomcat once or extract xwiki.war in the xwiki directory manually (in JBoss extract manually
xwiki.war in a directory named xwiki.war)
 IMPORTANT: Update the xwiki.cfg configuration file to add xwiki.store.hibernate.updateschema=1 to
make sure the database will be upgraded at startup (this variable can be then set to 0)
 IMPORTANT: Edit xwiki/WEB-INF/hibernate.cfg.xml and modify your database connection. With a
local install of xwiki it should be jdbc:mysql://localhost/xwiki
 If you want to use bigger attachments than 1Mb you need to change the packet size setting in Mysql.
See Config Larger Attachments.
Testing your install
 Connect to the xwiki application at: http://127.0.0.1:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome
 View users at http://127.0.0.1:8080/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/XWikiUsers
 The default admin user is Admin with password admin
 Add a user at http://127.0.0.1:8080/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/RegisterNewUser
 You can edit global rights at:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?xpage=editright…
Troubleshooting
 Common issues can be jar conflicts between the XWiki application and the Tomcat engine:
 Sometimes it might be necessary to copy your database driver to the tomcat/common/lib directory
from the xwiki/WEB-INF/lib directory (e.g. mysql-connector-java-#.#.#-stable-bin.jar ) as well as the
commons-pool-1.1.jar and commons-dbcp-1.2.1.jar
 Sometimes you might need to copy jta.jar to the subdirectory tomcat/common/lib from the
xwiki/WEB-INF/lib directory

Hi All,
Is there any way to clone all objects in an existing document to a
different document with one server request?
So that a template document can be maintained with default object
values; and can be brought in painlessly to a new document.

Dear all,
I've recently migrate my XWiki installation to an other server after a hard
drive crash.
I've copied my XWiki installation as it was and upgrade from Tomcat 5.5.15 to
Tomcat 5.5.17.
Tomcat is able to start correctly however the behaviour of XWiki has been
affected since I can't anymore use the "save" action on an object.
For instance, if I reach the "Class Editor" page (XWiki.XWikiClasses) :
- click on "PhotoAlbumClass" to create a new photo album
- create a new photo Album called "Photos.MyAlbum"
- I can see a form but if I enter a title and a description and then I save, I
get a blank page without any object attached.
- I have the following errors in my logs :
10:06:59,441 ERROR TP-Processor30
http://manage.objectweb.org/xwiki/bin/save/Photos/MyAlbum
AbstractBatcher:doExecuteBatch:60 - Exception executing batch:

Does somebody know what is wrong is my configuration ?

Thank you for your help :) now the search-function is working :)
Is there a tutorial where I can read these basic things?
I couldn't find it in the documentations on "xwiki.org".

OH, ok.
You started from a blank wiki so it's normal.
You need to copy the code from
http://www.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebSearch?xpage=code to your wiki.

Hi,
I'am using postgresql, the database was empty after the first startup of xwiki.
I'am supposed I created wiki sites.
In the beginning I set up a few spaces: "projecta", "projectb", "java" and "test"
In these spaces I created a few pages and tried to search, but I got no results.
To set up these pages I entered the Main page at:
http://rpsedev06:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome
After this I edited the URI to:
http://rpsedev06:8080/xwiki/bin/view/java/welcome
and put up some content.
In the next step I linked these pages to the Main page.
When I started to Search in the "Main"-space or any other space the search-action goes to the page:
http://rpsedev06:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebSearch
but don't show any content.
Thanks,
Sebastian

Hi,
I'am new to XWiki and trying to configure it for our intranet.
In the beginning I set up different spaces with topics and some contents
to test it.
But the WebSearch doesn't work.
It doesn't find keywords in the contents.
I'am using XWiki 0.9.840, which is installed on Tomcat 5.5
Thanks for any help.

Hi All;
First up, this is for our local configuration (not xwiki.com).
What I'm wanting to do is setup an email system for notifying people
that they must activate/sign in to the wiki and approve a request.
For example (for the precise among us, assume "he" means "he/she" ;-) )
1) UserA creates a financial statement and creates a document of
class Approval Request. He then adds users to the document via xwiki.
2) UserB, being the first member of the list of users, recieves an
email from the Xwiki server. He opens the page via the link provided,
and - assuming he is happy with the change - grants approval
(button/link/whatever).
3) UserC receives notification from the xwiki server; he also
approves.
4) Iterates through list, requiring each user to approve before
moving onto the next.
5) Once all users are complete, send an email to the document
creator and flag the document as "XYZ" (approved/done/etc).
Simplified quite a lot, and probably missing a few things but that's the
basic idea - most of this I can work out fine enough, what I'm not sure
about is the routing part (sending email from xwiki based on actions).
Any ideas or suggestions very welcome!!

triggered this? Please advise

Hi,
One of my users wants to control the people that get edit access
to his area without coming to me each time. I figured the easiest method of
doing this would be:
a) Create a group XWiki.MyGroup
b) Give the controlling user "edit" or "admin" access to XWiki.MyGroup so he
can edit it
c) Set the ACL on the space so that XWiki.MyGroup has view and edit
permissions
a) Create a document that does a $xwiki.flushcache(), make it publicly
available, and put it in the group page so he can easily flush the cache
when updating.
The question is on (b). What permissions does the user need to that page in
order to add and delete users from the group?

Hi XWiki users,
I have an xwiki installation on my server and have restricted all users so they have to log in to view any pages. I then added content using admin user. I then added my ordinary users and wanted to give them edit rights only (once they have logged in). I saw that all users are in the Xwiki.XwikiAllGroup and figured this would be a quick and simple way of achieving this (but I assumed that admin had God like rights!) so I changed the settings to:
Groups: Xwiki. XwikiAllGroup
Access Levels: edit
Users: Xwiki.Admin
Allow/Deny: Allow
>From the original:
Groups:
Access Levels: edit, admin, programming
Users: Xwiki.Admin
Allow/Deny: Allow
Now I have (very stupidly!) taken away the rights of the admin user! Is there any way I can run a Mysql script or SQL statement to add these rights back in for admin? Should I create a new group called AllNoAdminGroup and assign access levels to the ordinary users that way thus protecting the God like admin account?
Any help would be much appreciated because I have spent hours adding content as Admin and do not particularly want to reinstall and start again!
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards,
Andy Jerrom.
Hi
how can I remove an event (entry) from the calendar?
By the way there is a bug here. When entering only the start date, the
calendar takes it as the end date of a recurring event starting today.
Thanks

I am using Version 0.9.840. I am new to xwiki but really like its potential. I haev worked through alot of issues but this one has me stumpped.
I saw the above posting and it describes a problem I have been having with FAQs and other Forms. It appears that when multiple people on the xwiki at one time and people are filling out FAQs or other forms they will fill out the form but when they hit save it somehow does not copy in the template?? The blank page is created but the form and what they typed in is lost. This is very frustrating to the users.
I also dupliated this problem by bringing up two browser windows both on the xwiki site. Then on one window I bring up my FAQ form. on the other window I bring up a page that has the $wiki.flushCache() command on it. Then I go back and finish typing in the form and save. the form is lost everytime.
I thought that my flushCache call somehow was causing the problem for everybody because it was on the main page. I had put it on the main page about a month ago when I had permissions problems and I forgot to remove it. When I removed the flushCache() I could not duplicate the problem from my end anymore. However the users still are creating blank pages somehow.
Is this issue resolved in another version of xwiki? What can I do to resolve this issue for my users?
Thanks,
Marty
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out the purpose of "parent" pages in XWiki. What
can they be used for? If I set access rights on a page, do they
trickle down to the child pages?
Thanks!
-jeff
I believe the top most parent pages can be used to create separate spaces
with different access-rights. For example you can create a parent space
'Docs', and make it public, and another space 'Private-Docs' (at the same
level as 'Docs') change its access rights and use it as a private space
among your group.

Hi,
I am using XWiki 0.9.840 on JBoss 4.01 with MySQL latest.
I moved the DB from local to a remote database server and
adjusted the hibernate.cfg.xml and restarted.
Since this change, no pages can be loaded, and I get the
following *lots* of times in the server log (you will note that it is
infinitely recursive).
Q: How can I fix this?

Hi,
I am using XWiki 0.9.840 on JBoss 4.01 with MySQL latest.
I moved the DB from local to a remote database server and
adjusted the hibernate.cfg.xml and restarted.
Since this change, no pages can be loaded, and I get the
following *lots* of times in the server log (you will note that it is
infinitely recursive).
Q: How can I fix this?

Hi all,
On xwiki.com I used to be able to get a SyndFeed object by using:
$xwiki.feed.getFeed($myURL)
This appears to no longer get evaluated, as if the getFeed method is
gone - see bottom of:
http://soal.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Sandbox/blah
Is this expected?
Cheers,
Robin.
Hi all,
Two questions relating to Radeox:
1. Users quite often ask what macros are available besides {table},
what params they take etc... I tried pointing them to the Radeox docs
but these don't seem to correlate with what is actually available in
XWiki: http://radeox.org/space/snipsnap-help . In particular the
{list-of-macros} macro looks handy, but it just returns null. Is this
something that is going to need to be documented from scratch for
XWiki?
2. I recently wrote up how to use Radeox's interwiki feature with
XWiki: http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Enabling+interwiki+links
.
It works great with Windows but I can't figure out where Radeox is
looking for conf/intermap.txt on my linux box. I've tried putting it
under the tomcat directory, the tomcat user's home directory,
WEB-INF/classes, WEB-INF/lib, etc... but my xwiki.log always reports:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: conf/intermap.txt (No such file or directory)
at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:137)
at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:97)

[...]
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Robin
Hi,
I would like to translate xwiki to german. The current translation is
not complete and sometimes wrong (or at least somewhat strange).
However, I am a bit lost: I do not know where to find the translation
files (or database entries?), how to change them (and where to transmit
my changes, if I get this right).
Can anyone give me a quick introduction?
I am using the development version 0.9.1252
Second, I also tried to enable some logging for xwiki.
I found various documents on the web pointing me to
WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties. However, this file does not exist in
the development version.
Thanks,
Michael

By default My SQL limits it to 1MB and xWiki has a limit of 10MB.
If you want to change the defaults, you should change the settings.
Details are there in the install instructios.

Hi,
I tried to go to http://www.xwiki.org for few minutes.
But I saw the logo of xwiki.com and the message I didn't
have access right to see the document.
What's wrong here? Did I miss something?

I have now got xwiki up and running with Postgresql (the binary version
not svn). I followed instructions to change the database definitions
from int2 to boolean for those fields that are really bits not ints
which I found through google.
I installed the sample data that comes with the ddl statements and
then I came to log on. But the default id (which if I read the docs
right is Admin pw admin) does not work. How do I find out which id
is defined and what its password it, or reset the default admin id
to something I know?
Looking through the file xwiki.pg.dml.sql very near the end there are
some test users, and one for Ludovic Dubost, but of course their
passwords are encrypted (or at least obscured). But there is no Admin
user.

David
Hi all -
I know I've seen this somewhere but where do you get a list of
registered wiki's for your username??
I need to delete one I just created and cannot find the feature to allow
this.
Also, cannot seem to add a new one to an existing user - I have to
create new users all the time which seems a bit unnecessary?

I am trying to install xwiki with postgresql 8.1. The binary version does not
work as it tries to set an int field with a boolean value (or was it the other
way around - I forget).
So I pulled the SVN version in case this had been fixed, and it would seem
that this problem no longer exists, but then I hit another problem, the
schema that the was with the binary version is not right. But in the SVN
version I can not find the new schema. Does anyone have it, or can it be
generated?

David
Hi.
Can I safely edit templates/viewheader.vm and remove 'isMultiLingual'
condition near inserting 'Edit as HTML' (edithtmlcontent) menu entry? I'd like to have
htmlarea and I don't need multilingual in my private xwiki.

Hi all,
I've been playing around with the Dojo javascript toolkit recently. As
a little experiment, I put together a page that interacts with XWiki
objects using Ajax. I kept some notes of my experience so far and
thought they might be of interest to some of you:
http://soal.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/Code/DojoInXWiki .
Cheers,

Hi,
I'm glad to announce that xwiki.com has been upgraded with the latest
SVN version which includes major performance enhancements and is also
now setup as a Tomcat cluster.
The wikis that were transfered to the "pro" Java Virtual Machine are not
running in a cluster but their performance should be really good since
the load is limited.
The other wikis are running in cluster mode which should allow higher
availability with an automated JVM restart and load balancing over two
servers.
The performance enhancements are especially geared towards the
versioning system which was costing a lot of CPU especially due to
spamming which is creating hundreds of versions in XWiki documents all
over the wiki farm.
Now with the recent changes, reading and writing documents with hundreds
of version should be much more efficient.
Some areas still need improvements like saving a documents with a high
number of objets or listing all versions of a documents with a high
number of version (the default history page has been limited to 10
versions in order to reduce the load on the wiki farm).

I'm using:
<property name="hibernate.query.substitutions">true 1, false 0</property>
In my hibernate.cfg.xml successfully when running against an Oracle database (9iR2 or 10g2) and using XWiki version 0.9.840.
Maybe the behaviour is different in the PostgreSQL environment?

I tried this, but it does not seem to work. My hibernate.cfg.xml
reads:-
<property name="connection.url">jdbc:postgresql://localhost/xwiki</property>
<property name="connection.username">xwiki</property>
<property name="connection.password">xwiki</property>
<property name="connection.driver_class">org.postgresql.Driver</property>
<property
name="connection.provider_class">com.xpn.xwiki.store.DBCPConnectionProvider</property>
<property name="connection.pool_size">50</property>
<property name="statement_cache.size">50</property>
<property name="dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect</property>
<property name="hibernate.query.substitutions">true 1, false 0</property>
The precise form of the last tag I got from Chapter 11 of the Hibernate doc at http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/reference/en/html/queryhql.html
but I get the error:-
column "xwp_unmodifiable" is of type smallint but expression is of type boolean
This is using the binary version 0.9.840.
Any further ideas?
