The workaround tries to retrieve the XWiki.WebHome page upon login.
If a class cast exception is raised, then the "old" code for setting up the XMLRPC conversion settings is called.
Otherwise, if no exception is raised, then everything works fine and we proceed without touching XMLRPC conversion settings.

This might be a bit ugly and should be refined even on the server side.
