Well gecko definitely has a problem on linux. You should report this to them.

I can offer a workaround for you.
Use the albatross skin. To do this, go to http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/usernamehere?editor=object (replace usernamehere by your user name) and in the Skin field, enter albatross. Save.
