[xwiki-users] purpose of parent pages

Hi,
Parent pages are there for the navigation aid. Backlinks help also in
this area (there is actually backlinks activated on xwiki.com now
although there are not shown in the interface) but are not really enough.
Spaces are here for a macro level organization and rights. It would be
too power consuming to handle rights using the parent fields and could
also be confusing.
Since the parent field is filled automatically when creating a page from
another page it creates a navigation tree without actually requiring a
lot of work from users. This has a lot of value in a bug wiki.
We have some prototypes showing the navigation tree in a page or in a
MindMap.
