Hi! Don't know if it helps, but I've tried to test this using Selenium IDE, and figured
out, that both commands
assertEquals("0", selenium.getCursorPosition("j_username"));
verifyEquals("0", selenium.getCursorPosition("j_username"));
work correct only if the page is "active" (I mean when you click on page in any place,
for example, it becomes focused itself in first palce).
