openImageWithoutDescription still fails intermittently on stable-17.10.x, which carries this fix (17.10.14). The failure is now a TimeoutException raised inside the fix's retry:

ImagePopover.java:62 is the waitUntilReady() this fix added after a StaleElementReferenceException. It waits for the popover to be shown again. The description above also names a popover hide as a cause of the detached button. After a hide, nothing re-shows the popover, so this wait can only time out. That would explain why the StaleElementReferenceException (last seen 2026-10-02) was replaced by this timeout (first seen 2026-10-16).
Develocity, last 28 days: 5 failures in 627 runs (0.8%). The timeout accounts for 2 of them, both on stable-17.10.x / Chrome / MySQL / Tomcat 11, the latest one in Environment Tests #325. The server log shows no error during the test. Build scans: fkz4te6t4nmx2, vlxno6lda75ls.
