The root cause is actually XWIKI-23894.

During the development, tests were done but by putting netflux-api in the WAR, so we were not impacted by this problem.

Catching this kind of problems is (among other things) the goal of XWIKI-17828, but it's unfortunately taking much longer than anticipated...
