That's because it's not needed if your HTTP proxy is properly configured (in this case, letting know to the proxied server know what is the source protocol).

Yes.
What I can tell you is that the Connector scheme is not set at all in myxwiki.org and xwiki.org for example, and they don't have the problem you describe.
