cid:jira-generated-image-avatar-86b4ffc5-47ab-4cc1-aaef-d5bfe648fd8b Changes by Thomas Mortagne on 22/Oct/26 12:07

Description: Solr (from 9.11.0): https://solr.apache.org/docs/10_0_0/changes/Changes.html

Lucene (from 9.12.3): https://lucene.apache.org/core/10_3_2/changes/Changes.html

Things to take into account:
* Lucene 10 cannot open an index created with Lucene 8, so a Solr core created by an XWiki version based on Solr 8 cannot be migrated directly (see XWIKI-25423).
* SolrJ moved its Jetty based HTTP client to the new {{solr-solrj-jetty}} module, which uses Jetty 12 (SolrJ 9 uses Jetty 10). This is what blocks XWIKI-24337.
* Solr 10 and Lucene 10 require Java 21.
* Lucene 10 should remove the Lucene warning displayed on Java 23 or later (see XWIKI-25453).
* The Docker based functional tests only support a remote Solr 9 for now ({{SolrContainerExecutor}}).
* The {{solr:10}} Docker image starts in SolrCloud mode by default, while XWiki relies on the standalone mode (now called "user-managed", {{--user-managed}}) for remote Solr. Also, Solr 10 refuses to start with the {{solr.xml}} of a Solr 8 home.
* With the embedded Solr, {{CoreContainer#getCore}} throws an exception for a core which failed to be loaded (instead of returning null), which {{EmbeddedSolr#getCore}} will have to handle to detect a Solr 8 core which cannot be migrated anymore (see XWIKI-25423, which handles it for remote Solr).
