Summary: Use a style that works inline when the JIRA macro is placed in a sentence
Issue Type: cid:jira-generated-image-avatar-f909306b-816c-4472-951d-bf4c8e2e70cb Improvement
Affects Versions: 11.1.7
Assignee: Unassigned
Components: JIRA Macro
Created: 23/Oct/26 16:31
Priority: cid:jira-generated-image-static-major-6bf4506a-9623-4825-9a95-f791bc03d34a Major
Reporter: Charpentier Lucas
Description:

The JIRA macro declares that it supports the inline mode, but only its enum style renders inline. Its default style, table, and the list style fail inside a sentence: the most common example of the documentation, written in a sentence, like Before {{jira url="https://jira.xwiki.org"}}XWIKI-2484{{/jira}} after., renders "The "table" style for the "jira" macro cannot be used inline.". The documentation says so, but the Edit Macro dialog still offers every style, and the default one fails.

The improvement, in the JIRA macro:

  • When the macro is called inline with no style, use the enum style instead of the table one, so that the default works in a sentence.
  • When the macro is inline, offer only the styles that work inline in the Edit Macro dialog, or explain in the description of the style parameter which styles do.

Related issue: JIRA-95, where the inline error of the list style is not displayed in view mode.

KOs covered

Macro Criterion Problem
jira E4 inline-support The macro declares inline support, but only the enum style renders inline: the most common example in a sentence renders "The "table" style for the "jira" macro cannot be used inline.", and so does style="list".

Impact found on macro fluidity

This minor KO comes from the WYSIWYG usability audit of the macros, under the criterion E4 inline-support of its usability criteria, which checks that the inline support a macro declares matches its behavior. The page of the macro, linked in the table, has the full notes.
