What the update tasks bumped is forgotten between invocations while the working tree is not, so re-running './gradlew release' after a failed boot check found everything already up to date, selected no cycle at all and reported success having booted nothing - on the one run where booting was what had failed. Reading the tree also covers a 'template/' edit, which moves no version and had to be named by hand with '-Pcycles' until now. * Say why 'smokeTest' has nothing to test instead of 'no cycles to test', which reads the same whether there was nothing to do or whether the selection failed to name what needed booting. * Drop the reference in 'updateXWiki' to a duplicate tag check in 'official-image.gradle'. That check was removed before this feature landed, so the refusal to put two cycles on the same version line is now the only guard against two of them claiming the same tags.
