Sorry, but ObjectDataSourceFactory seems not to be working any more
(don't even know if it ever did). In the most cases a table data
source should be enough.

Indeed, the code for this is completely wrong, and it only shows how poor was owr knowledge of XWiki was two years ago.

Yes, it would be great to have this for xwiki. However, at the time
this is just not implemented. It would be great if you could help us
implementing this. I will have a look at the options we have for this
and then come back to you. Until then it would be great if you could
create a JIRA issue for this where you detail your use case.

The right behavior would be to have parameters for ClassName (the name of the type of the XWiki objects to use), the property name (the property that should be used as a data source), and the optiona document name and object number selection (range or set). Then, the datasource would extract from the [selected] objects the property and construct a proper data set. If you can write this and submit a patch, you would be of great help, as we are all busy with the 1.0 release.
