I also tried keeoing the new hibernate.cfg.xml and xwiki.cfg, but that did not work either.

The files that I used were from:

\xwiki-product-enterprise\web\target folder. But this folder had 2 such folders that I could use to replace my current xwiki installation:

1) xwiki-enterprise-web-1.4-SNAPSHOT

2)xwiki-product-enterprise\web\target\war\work\com.xpn.xwiki.platform\xwiki-web-standard
