[xwiki-devs] [VOTE][UI] WYSIWYG Link dialogs
Hi, Now that we have agreed on the "wiki explorer" thing I've updated the link proposal accordingly. The mockups are available at : http://dev.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/NewWysiwygEditorInterface#HLink I've tried to spot all the items that we'd want to discuss but I may have forgotten some of them, feel free to raise new discussions. Votes for internal links : 1) Flyover ------------- Do we want to be able to easily set the link title ? Wiki syntax : [[current selection>>Main.WebHome||title="flyover"]] Votes for external links : 2) Number of wizard steps ----------------------------------- We have a major difference between external and internal links, pasting a URL doesn't require a fancy editor. We could : a) Have 2 steps to be consistent with the internal insertion. First step : link URL, second step : link options. b) Ease the edit work and have all the settings in the same screen (URL + options), this is how I've presented it in the mockup. My votes : 1) +1 2) +1 for b) JV.

I can see 2 things missing: 1) The filter box to help look for the page the user is looking for without having to browse 2) The advanced option to be able to specify any parameter (% a=b ... %) in wiki syntax 2) should probably only be visible for advanced users. For 1) I'm not sure. Also can you specify how the wiki address field works? Is it auto suggest?
Votes for internal links :

+ 1 for only visible for advanced user
For 1) I'm not sure. 0+ as filter looks like a search field but is not a search...

+1, but I don't like "flyover". I've never heard this term used with this meaning. What's wrong with "tooltip"?
Votes for external links :

+1 for b). Other comments: Add page can be confusing. Does it really add the page, like it will be created and available after clicking "Add"? As a user, I can be tempted to "add" several pages believing that they are "created", only to find them missing afterwards. After adding a page, why return to step 1 and not 2? Implementation: when linking to an external url, make sure that http:// is added if the user does not put it, as otherwise the link will be an invalid internal one. -- Sergiu Dumitriu http://purl.org/net/sergiu/

non-binding +1 (tooltip sounds more common to me as well)

Yes tooltip is better.

Right, surprisingly it never came to my mind. May be because I had the AllDocs version of the tree in mind .. I don't know :) I've updated the mockup, indeed it's better like this. JV.
