+1 This looks very good. I'd suggest once we have done this to revive a discussion about the Home Page based on Caty's work: http://incubator.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Improvements/XWikiOrgProposal2 The current xwiki.org page really needs a revamp. We don't necessarly need to do everything that is in Caty's proposal. But we need for sure to revamp the entry point and give the "General Links" a more proeminent space and clean the "Getting Started" section which is highly outdated. You can see this as a performance improvement: one less image to transfer, one less HTTP request, fewer bytes to transfer since the CSS text is small. Sure, a plain white character is not as rich as a 24-bit image, but it's not that bad, right?

And another (and a half) problem: if you look at an extension page, for example http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/Extension/Stats2 in Chrome, you can notice two things: - only in Webkit based browsers, a gray rectangular background appears around the new buttons; this is a known WebKit bug (see https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=29427 ) which seems to be fixed recently; for the Download Extension buttons I used a slightly different style for -webkit-*, avoiding the use of inset box-shadow - the two types of Download buttons (download XWiki and download the extension) don't look the same (lack of consistency); this happens in all browsers; it's not quite a bug, but I'd rather have only one common style -- Sergiu Dumitriu http://purl.org/net/sergiu/

I don't like it much because it has a rounded shape, and our theme is mostly without curves. IMO it doesn't fit nicely.

The "flag" is too small and you can't figure out easily what it is. We should find another way to implement this if we want to keep the idea of flag. IMO the white small flag doesn't integrate nice, leaving the impression that the UI is cool (which it is) + that small flag is being something added with force to the UI.

Right now the form send all the data to a single address integrated in the service we used for the other forms on xwiki.org (formassembly). Using this third party service I didn't try to validate and manipulate the forms entries. I used the generated form elements and restyled them (by adding new css classes and restructured a bit the form flow). I don't know what are the solutions: implement our own form, have a mail server on xwiki.org configured or just hack that generated form. Thanks, Caty

We've tried to design this proposal with taking 2 ideas into account: 1) that it's fair and that all companies can have a fair visibility 2) that it's visible which companies contribute the most (to reward their contributions)

The idea is twofold: 1) to get feedback about what people think about our software. 2) some people who download the XWiki software from xwiki.org don't know that XWiki SAS has a commercial offerings and could be interested by it

The pros for the community are: 1) XWiki SAS will publish back the result of the feedback it receives from the download form which will allow us to fine tune and improve the software 2) XWiki SAS could get more business (from people who want to buy support, dev work, hosting, etc) which will mean accrued budget for paying developers and resources to work on the XWiki project

Note 1: the form would be of course optional Note 2: in the future I'd like to see a not for profit foundation to handle xwiki.org, the xwiki open source project, donations, etc. When this happens we could elect from member for the foundation and have the feedback form sent to that foundation for example, with members of the foundation having access to the data (for example).
