Yes, we need someone to look into that. Thomas wanted to do it but I've asked him to help me on the new rendering for the 1.7 release so I guess he hasn't had the time.

Can your patch be applied as is Markus or is there work to be done on it?

The patch is already good, maybe some modifications if things changed since the patch was created but I doubt that. But there is no automated test and I did not had time yet to write some with rendering, LDAP and releases...

Right. It should be working and be complete as it is. I didn't checked it but I don't think that there were any breaking changes in the meantime. The only thing you maybe want change is the styling (CSS) and add styles to other themes.

Not really. AFAIU google is not using OpenID but an extension of OpenID that is not compatible with the spec if we are to believe this post: http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/google-doesnt-use-openid/
