[xwiki-devs] [VOTE] Move to Servlet 3.0 now in 7.0
Hi devs, I know this comes slightly late in the 7.0 dev timeframe but now is better than later… So the vote is about moving to Servlet 3.0 right now for 7.0RC1. The issue has been opened a long time ago at http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-9358 and now is a good time. For full disclosure, my sudden urge comes from the need to use at least Servlet 2.5 to properly and cleanly fix http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-11843, so this would kill 2 birds with one stone. If someone is -1, then I’d still like to move to Servlet 2.5 at least. Here’s my +1 Thanks -Vincent

+1. Tomcat 7 is available by default in RHEL7, which has been out for 9 months already, and for RHEL6 as part of the EPEL repository. Also available for Debian stable. On 03/13/2015 05:06 AM, [email protected] wrote:

Question: is it still possible to use UrlRewriteFilter [1] to achieve the short URL use-case [2]. I see we need to modify web.xml to use it, this is why I ask. I’m not sure I understand the question. Servlet 3.0 still uses and support web.xml files. Thanks -Vincent

Vincent explained me that the ShortURL use-case would not be broken by this change (which was my question), so I am +1 for this. Guillaume 2015-03-16 11:25 GMT+01:00 [email protected] <[email protected]>:
