[xwiki-devs] [CONTRIB] New contrib project for realtime-wysiwyg
Hi, I'm working on the realtime wysiwyg extension and it's working fairly well but it's still a bit rough around the edges, some issues I'm aware of and others I am not so I would like to #1 move it to xwiki-contrib git repository and #2 have a bugtracker project to keep track of issues for this project. I'm thinking RTWYSIWYG as a project name on the xwiki.org bugtracker, does this make sense? Thanks, Caleb

You mean on JIRA? :) Note that it’s actually an issue tracker and not just a bug tracker ;) Creating it… Do you also need me to create/configure the contrib project? -Vincent
Thanks, Caleb

I noticed it’s not on xwiki-contrib yet. Let me know what I should do (or not do!). Thanks -Vincent

Thanks very much, just give me a few minutes to write a readme.md and get things slightly in order and I'll push... Thanks, Caleb On 05/15/2014 03:15 PM, [email protected] wrote:

I'd prefer RTvis for real-time-visual. (or ReTiVis ?). I've never been a fan of WYSIWYG which is never completely true and even less so in our world of mixed devices. Go Caleb go… there's a world to save here! paul

+1 against wysiwyg, unfortunately the project is created but for marketing purposes we should consider a name which is not an ugly acronym. Thanks, Caleb On 05/16/2014 02:30 AM, Joshua Marks wrote:

That’s funny because from a marketing perspective I think everyone in XWiki-land will understand "Realtime WYSIWYG editor” way better than “Realtime visual editor” :) So I’m rather against this because this would mean renaming the current WYSIWYG editor to something else and with all the references to it on xwiki.org that’s close to impossible. Unless you guys want to do the huge work of changing all source code + all xwiki.org pages… I also find it much better to have source code in sync with the terminology used. In addition WYSIWYG is not that bad, it conveys the intent which is to have something that’s WYSIWYG. Where do we come short BTW? The differences from the edit mode and the view mode are really very minor IMO (some minor CSS differences AFAIK). Thanks -Vincent
Thanks, Caleb
