The fix from Andreas is working as expected, this one is therefore fixed. I had to complete the fix from Caleb on the attachment cache issue to also fix the newly created http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-8705. Those definitely fix FD leaks, and FD seems now perfectly stable :) I had also improve the attachment cache to avoid creating useless files and FDs.

If not, we need to fix them for 4.5M1 or RC1, depending if we release 4.5M1 today or not.

I stress the importance of releasing 4.4.1 ASAP because right now people are installing 4.0. Note that we won't need a 4.4.2 since by that time we'll release 4.5 final.

I fully agree, we may now release 4.4.1 ASAP. Monday seems a nice target, and it would be great if some testing can take place in the meantime.
