Richard,

If you have to play with CSS I advise you to install the Firebug add-on to Firefox (hopefully you are using it).
It has a very useful "Inspect" tool that allows you to check every element of the page and tell you what ccs properties are involved and in which css file it is located. Then you just have to modify it. (you can even make "live test" with firebug, modifying css properties in it)

something like a:link, a:visited, a:hover...
these should be in a file called color.css or colorsomething.css in the
albatross folder. I'm not sure in which file you'll find those
properties, I didn't really played that much with the albatross skin...
