Yes, you should increase the memory allocated to the JVM running XWiki.

Unfortunately not yet. This is planned though but for the 1.1 time frame. However you can easily edit your exported XAR file to remove whatever pages you don't want to import. You'll need to edit the package.xml file too to remove the files from there.
