Hi everybody, I successfully installed XWiki Enterprise 1.5.1.12494, now I'd like to set it up with the Italian language. I saw that it is possible to make XWiki multilingual, and I successfully translated some documents in both English and Italian... but is it possible to make Italian the default language, so that when users log into XWiki the "whole" site is already in Italian? I hope that there is a way to do that, otherwise I'll have to translate every XWiki page from English to Italian... I hope you can help me, thank you very much in advance Carmelo
Hi Carmelo, you can set the default language of your wiki in your wiki preferences. To do so, click on the administration link at the top right, then click on the "General" icon and replace "en" with "it" under Default language. This while make italian your default language (please note that XWiki detects your browser's favorite language and displays the page you're looking at in that language if available, otherwise it uses the default language to display the page). Hope this helps, Guillaume On Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 5:27 PM, Carmelo Saffioti <[email protected]> wrote:

Thank you Guillaume, I've done it already, but it seems that there is no italian translation (until I make it). In fact, the Home page is displayed in English, and it's displayed in Italian only after I translated it...

Yes thank you Arnaud, but I already tried it... It works only after translating pages from English to Italian, so I suppose that there are no italian pages after the XWiki installation, and that I have to write them... Isn't it?

Italian is supported. Maybe not be up to date but we have existing translations. -Vincent

Thank you Vincent, but how can I do? As I said before, after login I saw English pages, no Italian until I translate them...

I think I see what you mean : the wiki interface itself is indeed translated into italian (action buttons, top menu bar...) while the content of wiki pages are currently available only in english (with a lot of harcoded stuff right into pages). Sorry about the added work it implies for you... We're currently working on making internationalization easier to maintain, but for now you'll have to translate the content of the pages in italian... We'd be very happy to have you contribute the translated content of pages once you're done though :-) Guillaume On Thu, Sep 18, 2008 at 5:51 PM, Carmelo Saffioti <[email protected]> wrote:
