[xwiki-users] Missing menu bar
Hello: I installed XWiki 8.0 in tomcat 9 under windows 2008; The menu bar is missing!! I thought this was the new layout of the screen, but I looked up some screenshots, and apparently there is supposed to be a menu bar right next to the xwiki logo, with "home" "add" "space" "page" items just like in 6.0. Why is it not showing in my installation? I tried both chrome and ie. Hi, The screenshots looks normal. The top level bar was refactored between XWiki 7.2-7.4 for supporting Nested Spaces. See http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/ContentOrganization for some explanations. Thanks -Vincent

So now there is no explicit “create space” option? so the only way to create a new space is by creating a page and setting the parent to a new space? Dan From: vmassol [via XWiki] Sent: Wednesday, May 04, 2016 12:42 AM To: dullfig Subject: Re: Missing menu bar

one small problem with the new layout is that when you delete a space, it takes you to a “this page has been deleted”, and the breadcrumbs disappear, so the “home” icon is gone so there isn’t a one mousclick way of getting back to home page. Or am I missing something? Sorry for all the questions but I made the jump from xwiki 6.0 and there is some adjusting. From a UI perspective there’s no space, only pages. So you don’t create spaces, you create pages. Please read http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/ContentOrganization If this page is not clear let us know precisely which part we should improve. It’s supposed to contain everything. Hi, I agree that the delete UI should show the breadcrumb so that you can navigate to the parents. If you can, please file a jira issue since I don’t recall seeing one on this. Thanks -Vincent
