Hello, The work directory is used to store persistent data (which aren't deleted at shutdown), for example lucene search can use it to store search indexes. The temp directory is used to store temporary data, for example the svg plugin can use it as a cache to store computed pngs. JV.

I'm sure the list members would also appreciate your input even more were you to take the time to describe our issue providing slightly more accurate details. I infer from your message (but please correct me if I'm wrong) that you are experiencing issues while trying to use chinese characters in XWiki Enterprise's Wiki Editor.
