[xwiki-users] Upgrade to 8.2: Failed to execute the [velocity] macro.
Dear List, After a Debian Upgrade from Wheezy to Jessie, my XWiki 7.2 was also upgraded. But during the upgrade process, it seems there were some conflicts I did not really bother as the system told me it could manage them (Maybe I was a bit naive at this point ...). After the upgrade process finished, I landed on my XWiki with all the pages filled with "Failed to execute the [velocity] macro. Click on this message for details." Even the Admin user cannot access admin pages due to the error. I tried to dig in the database to find if I could resolve the problem but I did not succeed. My guess is that update went well and redoing it won’t help since there’s probably nothing to fix there. The issue is likely just that you need to log in with an admin user and set the script right properly. Thanks -Vincent

Even logged on with the admin user does not allow me to reach the admin interface. There is not even a link to it. If I try to enter the URL directly ( https://xxxxxxxxx/xwiki/bin/XWiki/XWikiRights but maybe the url is wrong), on the page I have a bunch of "Failed to execute the ..." error. It looks like the author of most of the pages don't have script/admin right anymore. You should probably try enabling superadmin (1) user and check what you have in the Admin group (2). If it's empty you probably got a conflict for which you just clicked continue while in your case you should maybe have chosen to keep the current version. If that's the case, you probably just need to revert to previous version of that document. Thanks for the link but as I can't access the admin area of the Wiki, I can not set the script right.
Is there a way to "redo" the upgrade to re-install the preferences?
My guess is that update went well and redoing it won’t help since there’s probably nothing to fix there.
The issue is likely just that you need to log in with an admin user and set the script right properly.
