Import xwiki-1.0-beta-4.xar errors!
Hi, I've installed xwiki 1.0 beta4 and imported the xar file, but got errors: It showed that XWiki.Pereference and Rights can not be installed correctly. I could not delete the xar file either. Anyone can help? Many thanks. -- Best regards, Xin

I don't think it's related to XWIKI-530, since the import works for most pages, except the specified 2. Indeed, importing the XWikiPreferences page causes an error. The page is deleted, but not imported back. Also, I think the attachment was deleted, but the exception you saw on the page was a minor bug fixed in the trunk (and beta5). If you go back to the import page, the attachment should be gone. If not, then there is bug we don't know of, and it would be great if you could send us the stack trace. Sergiu, is this a regression? I've never had this problem with the XWikiPreferences page. Do we have a jira for it? Is it fixed in Beta 5? Thanks -Vincent

Hi, Thanks for the quick replies. I just test xwiki on my laptop. Here are enviroments: 1. Windows XP 2. PostgreSQL 3. Glassfish 4. XWiki 1.0-BETA-4.2131 build After I installed the xwiki, I just import the xar file and then I found that 2 files failed(preference and rights). I try to delete the xar file and found I could not delete it use Admin user. The page showed me I am not allowed to do this action. It seemed that there was a user of "XWikiGuest" locked the page. Maybe there is a hint from my PostgreSQL log, I found two errors: 1."value too long for type character varing(20000) 2."current transaction is aborted, commands ignored until end of transaction block" On 3/5/07, Vincent Massol <[email protected]> wrote:

This is almost certainly related to the report I mailed in on Feb 19. " I just installed a fresh copy on Postgres 8.1.4 and got the folowing error when importing XWiki.XWikiPreferences from the supplied XAR: JDBCExceptionReporter:logExceptions:72 - ERROR: value too long for type character varying(20000) This was fixed with ALTER TABLE xwikidoc ALTER COLUMN xwd_class_xml TYPE varchar(200000); " After you do this, log in as superadmin and re-import everything. Hi, Thanks to all of you. The errors are due to limitation of the xml doc table (I just do what Paul said: change the limitation of xwd_class_xml in xml doc table from 20000 to 200000, I also change xwd_archive from 200000 to 2000000). Then the installation seemed OK except that preference page is locked by XWikiGuest(You can just edit it by force). I think it will be better to mention the size limitation in the guide. Why would you put that in the FAQ? Seems to me it would be much better in the installation documentation... What needs to be documented is the PostGre SQL steps for installing XWiki with PostGre SQL... I don't think this has anything to do with XAR. It was simply that your installation wasn't correct. Errors could have happened in several places bcause of the xwd_archive size issue. Thanks -Vincent

I'm not sure that the problem comes from the installation. I got the same problem a few days ago but didn't have enough time to post about it. I'm also using XWiki under Postgre. I created a blank Postgre database, exported an XAR from a standalone XWiki (/HSQL), tried to import it in my newly created database and got the same error than Xin. To fix it, I increased the size in the XWiki Hibernate mapping, and tried again. Import was OK. Now I sent a request to my database : xwiki-gds=# SELECT char_length(xwd_class_xml) from xwikidoc where xwd_fullname='XWiki.XWikiPreferences'; char_length ------------- 23071 (1 ligne) I did exactly the same operation with MySQL and didn't need to modify the Hibernate mapping. If you detail the column type under MySQL and Postgres, you get different information : MySQL : | XWD_CLASS_XML | text | YES | | NULL | | Postgres : xwd_class_xml | character varying(20000) | Size limitation isn't visible on MySQL which could explain why import didn't produce any error. So I think it would be better to increase the limitation under Hibernate rathet than under PostgreSQL. Regards, Arnaud.

Hi, As Arnaud said, Xwiki use "text" data type in MySQL table but "varchar(20000)" in Postgres. Postgres also has the "text" data type withour size limitation. Should we change the data type rather than simply change the size limitation? What do you think? Many thanks. On 3/5/07, Arnaud Thimel <[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Xin, the main problem for using PostgreSQL and XWiki is the correct mapping of the data types of MySQL to Postgres. This has been addressed in my posting on Feb.07 titled: XWiki 0.9 to 1.0Beta Postgres Database Upgrade using DATA only I couldn't find it in the mail archive (don't know why) and therefore will repost it in a few minutes. Hi,
Thanks to all of you.
Yes that's a good idea. Can you do it?
Thanks -Vincent
Many thanks again.

I don't think it's related to XWIKI-530, since the import works
for most pages, except the specified 2.
Indeed, importing the XWikiPreferences page causes an error.
The page is deleted, but not imported back.
Sergiu, is this a regression? I've never had this problem with the
XWikiPreferences page. Do we have a jira for it? Is it fixed in Beta 5?
Here's the error I got (yesterday, so b5 doesn't fix it):
13:27:30,130 [TP-Processor6] WARN util.JDBCExceptionReporter - SQL Error: 1062, SQLState: 23000 13:27:30,132 [TP-Processor6] ERROR util.JDBCExceptionReporter - Duplicate entry '-944455444-tags' for key 1 13:27:30,133 [TP-Processor6] ERROR .AbstractFlushingEventListener - Could not synchronize database state with session org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException : could not insert: [com.xpn.xwiki.objects.IntegerProperty] at org.hibernate.exception.SQLStateConverter.convert (SQLStateConverter.java:69)
So it's a duplicate key issue.
