Is there a way to get a list of pages that links to a specified page
(backlinks?)

I guess there update invalidation is still there since it was only Apr 2006
or has that issue been addressed in the SVN?

We never touch it since I think. If you want you can suggest a patch.

I'll have a closer look. What's the process for submitting changes? Do I
send a patch file to someone or should I get an SVN account to check-in?

you create a jira (http://jira.xwiki.org) task for the issue (if it's
not already done), and you attach your patch to it. We will review it
soon and commit.
