Yep that’s the strange part.
This problem remains and it could also be some missing info in the UI.
Now I hope that the fact that all deps are re-installed in the root namespace isn’t going to cause problems anywhere. It’s not very nice that when this extension is installed it’s causing such a big change.
Are you really sure it's right to install License Manager APPLICATION at root level ? Sounds like a XAR extension to me, if that's expected then I would say there is something wrong in the design.
Sure and I’ve already changed that (wasn’t done by me initially) but the 2 open questions of this thread remain.
Yes dependencies of a root extension has to be root too of it would not make any sense.
Extensions with the same id/features are not allowed to be available at the same time in the same scope (sure way to have all sort of weird issues) so yes when an extension is installed at root level then all extensions matching its id/features are removed from other namespaces.
Thanks. Yes we figured this out thanks to Sergiu. But the two remaining questions are: * Why is the UI mentioning that some extensions will be removed and not that they will be reinstalled? For example: Administration Application. Maybe it’s because we list dependencies for extensions that are removed but not for extensions that are installed? If so, I think this is an inconsistency that we could improve, WDYT? * Couldn’t we display some indication that an extension is going to be installed as root? We do display when it’s in a given namespace, for example “‘in wiki Home” in the screenshot. Could we display “(root)” or “(in root)” for root namespace too? That would make it simpler to understand.
