Sergiu, Thanks for you reply, that was a big help. All, Here are the explicit steps that worked for me with Tomcat 5.5+: 1. Put the name of your webapp, blank for ROOT, in the <display-name> tag in /WEB-INF/web.xml 2. Delete the context.xml file in /META-INF 3. Reload the webapp or restart Tomcat I'll report any problems with changing the webapp name to http://jira.xwiki.org. I suggest others do as well.
