[xwiki-devs] New planning for XE 1.4 releases
Hi, Since XWiki Enterprise 1.4M1 has been delayed by 1 week we have to modify the planning a bit. So here are the proposed dates: * XE 1.4 M1 - Tomorrow * XE 1.4 M2 - April 3rd * XE 1.4 RC1 - April 25 * XE 1.4 RC2 - May 8 * XE 1.4 Final - May 13 Let me know if you have any concern with these dates. Thanks, -- Jean-Vincent Drean

Tomorrow == April 3rd :) Does this imply that XE1.4M1 == XE1.4M2? Cheers, Fabio

-0 I'd really like that we don't change the final release date and keep it as planned. It's not good practice to shift. We should instead modify slightly the intermediary dates but keep the same final date. Of course this means we'll have a little bit less content but that's not important. What's important is that we 1) release often and 2) keep the dates that we announce. Thanks -Vincent

Before we finalize let's review what we want to include in 1.4M2: 1) new xmlrpc improvements (Fabio) 2) improved stats performance (ThomasM) 3) Skins extensions (Sergiu) 4) some perf improvements (JV) Imagine we decided to reduce the 1.4M2 release from 3 weeks to 2 weeks in order to have the same final release date for 1.4. What can be done in 1) through 4) within 2 weeks (10 days) starting today? Thanks -Vincent

XMLRPC is almost done (modulo some issues, look at my previous email). So in 10 days, even less, it will be ready. Cheers, Fabio

And ok for 4) Since everyone is ok to have a 2 weeks long 1.4M2 let's keep the old release dates : * XE 1.4 M1 - today * XE 1.4 M2 - April 18 * XE 1.4 RC1 - April 25 * XE 1.4 RC2 - May 2 * XE 1.4 Final - May 6 If it's ok for everyone I'll update those dates in JIRA today. Thanks, -- Jean-Vincent Drean
