Missing plugin, is that the video player or the video codec? The need to install a plugin varies from browser to browser. The most common way to present video nowadays is with a Flash video because most people have the Flash plugin, but that's probably beyond the scope of this mailinglist (you can google for JWplayer!). In the future, I hope HTML5 video will be default. I think JWplayer offers a way to embed HTML5 video with Flash fallback.
