This is the same behaviour as for formatting (bold, italic, underline, etc). And just as for formatting, all you need to do is "deactivate it", i.e. position at the end of the text, and click the unlink button to start writing outside the link.
I don't see this as a bug, do you feel that even with this behaviour it is a bug?
