[xwiki-users] Starting an external application

Hello all, In a elearning invironment XWIKI have to be linket to an external software tool. In a second step XWIKI send some data to the external tool to open a specific file. At the end of the usage of the external tool XWIKI will get some date from the external tool and store it in a page. What kind of externsion I need to solve these problem? Are there any examples?
