Thanks Srini,
Is it possible that you are not able to make DB connection using mysql driver? Did you edit hibernate.cfg.xml with relevent JDBC url entries, username and password? Did you populate the tables uner xwiki schema in mysql etc.? (Just double checking).
I triple and quadruple checked everything. I wrote a TestClass that connects to the successfuly database, I have the latest versions of mysql.jar, commons-*.jar in tomcat/commons or xwik/lib, I even set up a different db on a remote system, it wot work. I have mysql 4.1.15, Tomcat 5.5.16 and Java 5 (1.5.06) on a Ubuntu Dapper (6.06) System. I have a db xwiki and a user xwiki(pw: xwiki) and the db contains teh example content. I can contact the db with my Testclass using java.sql or the mysql cli-client with the given user details and read/write information to the db. When I change the user/password values to wrong data, I get "couldnt create pool", when I have the right values I get "could not open connection".
You may want to start with log entries in Tomcat stdout/stderr logs and xwiki.log file in tomcat\bin directory.
There is also a log4j.properties file in WEB-INF\classes. You may set entries all the entries 'debug' (note: it will produce a LOT of log) to debug.
tomcat log says nothing, xwiki log (though everything is set to debug) just writes the stacktrace I already saw on the browser screen. I'm getting frustrated on this, I dont want to switch from MySQL, I dont wont to install an other wiki system but I cannot see what else to try (except maybe voodoo ot). Is there anyone out there willing to check my config or just try to setup an xwiki system based on Ubuntu Dapper? BTW: I recall encountering one Problem during installation: the mysql import refused to run through due to a "syntax error". Seems like the demo db uses Mysql 4.1.* features, so the "also works with 4.0.*) on the install page should be removed. Anyhelp appreciated, gladly offer vbs (virtual beers) or iidtd (imaginary i do the dishes) in exchange ... regards Jan

Hi,
I am new to XWiki and am currently trying to set up a local test system. I downloaded the latest war and mysql -dump, did all the configuration and even the troubleshootinghints (copying jars to tomcat/common) but I still get this error:
I guess the key is "could get JDBC batch update" ...
Its mysql 4.1.15 as it comes with ubuntu dapper an tomcat 5.5.16 on JRE5 (1.5.06)
Anyone with an idea? tia Jan
