Thanks for the reply. I am running on Centos 4 with the standard RHEL MySQL 4.1 install. I may try to update.
I don't know if this will help. The message in the tomcat log provides more information but nothing that I could tell that really helps. This is the first I have worked with xwiki so I am still trying to get grounded. I don't experience any other issues except this. The standard search box seems to work OK. Is there something else I can do to validate if MySQL is working?

I get the exact same error with MySQL 4.1. It appears the Table XWikiDocument doesn't exist. Successful install with MySQL 5, HSQLDB, and PostgreSQL.
