Yes this is known and advertised but if we can make it more explicitly I’m all for it but we’ll need your help to tell where we should have put it.
Right now we have it in 2 places: 1) in the installation page: http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation#HHardwarean... 2) in the tomcat page: http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/InstallationTomcat ("Make sure you give enough memory to Java”, with a link).
I’ve modified the text to: "Make sure you [[give enough memory to Java>>#HOutOfMemoryError]] since by default Tomcat is configured with not enough memory for XWiki.” on http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/InstallationTomcat.
