There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. Can you do something more? Extract from WEB-INF/lib/xwiki-core-1.x.jar the file log4j.properties, copy it to WEB-INF/classes/, edit it and replace the line: log4j.logger.org.hibernate.type=warn with log4j.logger.org.hibernate.type=trace Restart your wiki, and now right before the exception, in the log there should be a line indicating what value is causing problem.
