Yes, I think this is the expected behavior (we don't have enough information from your scenario to be 100% positive about this, you should give us which rights you set a the space level and which rights you set at the page level to be sure). When you allow a certain right (view, edit, etc.) for a user or group, then everybody must have this particular right explicitly allowed at a certain level too (be it the same page level, or inherited space or wiki level). You can achieve that by also allowing the same right for other users and groups on the page, or upper in the hierarchy (space or wiki). Keep in mind that as a default setting, everybody is allowed to view and edit all pages, despite the fact no specific rights are set at first. One start allowing and denying rights usually to restrict (i.e., I allow the ConspiratorsGroup to view the SecretSpace so that others cannot). It is easier to exclude the others by only including the chosen ones. Example: User X is not allowed to view pages in space SpaceA (view denied from the space administration UI), but is allowed to view page SpaceA.PageA (allowed from the page rights editor) If you want users from Group1 to be able to view all pages from SpaceA (including PageA), you should grant view right to this group from the space administration of SpaceA. I have a space with certain user rights. Then I assign some rights to a different user in a page in that space, leaving the rest of the boxes blank. As a result, the other users lose their rights in the page. I need to copy the marks from the rights admin to the page rights admin, so that the space users do not lose their rigths in this page.
I've read again http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/RightsManagement and I can't distinguish if this effect is this a bug or a feature.
