[xwiki-devs] [Brainstorm] Web sites where we should announce XWiki releases
Hi everyone, I'd like to improve our tech marketing by sending XWiki release announcements to web sites that people know about/use. So this thread about brainstorming about those sites. So what sites do you think we should send release announcements to? Note that at the moment we publish on: - Wikipedia: * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XWiki * http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/XWiki * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_wiki_software - FreeCode: * http://freecode.com/projects/xwiki/releases/new - Wikimatrix: http://www.wikimatrix.org/edit/XWiki - OW2: - http://forge.ow2.org/projects/xwiki Also note that news published on FreeCode are republished by other news sites (I don't have the list). So let me start by proposing: - DZone: * http://www.dzone.com/links/index.html * Submission form: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s119/sh/29a1d696-d2e3-4c3f-a1a1-b296296b8e04/... Please add yours here! Thanks -Vincent

The H Online [1] is a good tech site, with frequent release announcements, but I think that it's not open to user submissions, since it's an editorial site. We could try to ping them after each major release to post an announcement. I only saw one XWiki post [2], for 3.0. Their release announcements are usually of medium length, so our usual short notes won't be enough, and the full release notes will be too much. LWN [3] is another good release site, although they tend to be oriented towards less "enterprise" products. Again, it's an editorial site, so we can't publish announcements ourselves. I think that we should try to get at least once a year an announcement on these sites, with the summary of the top ten features introduced in a cycle. Allow me to add: http://www.framasoft.net/article3086.html Also, I've seen ADTmag cover some releases: http://adtmag.com/ Maybe they're a good place to contact? Probably other magazines should be useful? http://www.heise.de/ would probably receive such announcement (they produce C'T among others). How about IBM DeveloperWorks? Isn't there a GWT-powered-software listing? paul

Indeed, we should at least fix it since it's pretty outdated and has some wrong informations ("Compatibilité avec les plugins TWiki en Perl").
