Hi guys!
I juste read under http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/
HowToCreateNestedPages that nested pages are currently not available.
I really need this functionality for my current project. As sad on
the FAQ this feature should be available soon. Can anyone tell me
when this will happen? If there is already a "working" version of
that feature in the dev trunk, let me know, I could help testing.

Hello!
I installed a new instance of xwiki on my local machine. I tried to set up the email notification but it didn't really work. In the XWiki Preferences I set the outgoing smtp server to several smtp servers such as smtp.google.com, smtp.comcast.net, etc. Howver, there seem to be some authentication issues and I get the following error message:
***
Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page Demo.SendMailTestPage Wrapped Exception: Invocation of method 'sendMessage' in class com.xpn.xwiki.XWiki threw exception class com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException : Error number 10006 in 10: Could not send mail to server smtp.comcast.net port 25 error code 530 (530 Authentication required ) OR

I also tried to use my own smtp server (hmailserver) but then I had some relay problems and the following error message:
***
Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page Demo.SendMailTestPage Wrapped Exception: Invocation of method 'sendMessage' in class com.xpn.xwiki.XWiki threw exception class com.xpn.xwiki.XWikiException : Error number 10006 in 10: Could not send mail to server mail.hmailserver.com port 25 error code 550 (550-207-105-15-139.ded.pacbell.net (XWiki version 0.9.840) 207.105.15.139? is 550-currently not permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not 550-logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP 550 Authentication turned on in your email client. )

I have right now no idea how to resolve these issues. I would appreciate any help in setting up the smtp server for the email notification.
Cheers,
Jens
Hi,
We got a new load of spam related hammering on xwiki.com. It is more and
more horrible and creates more and more unuseful load on xwiki.com. Spam
robots have included creation of XWiki accounts and use of these
accounts to publish spam data in the wiki pages.
I've had to deactivate statistics since each spam-related request that
cannot be catched by mod_security creates load on the database for these
statistics.
The only way to get statistics back will be to use Javascripts which
triggers a statistics storage request in the database (which would be
ignored by spam robots and search engines), or to wait until we can read
Google Analytics or another external statistics engine and redisplay it
on xwiki.com.
In the future we will propose a tutorial to activate Google Analytics on
your wikis. If you know how to do it you should include this on your
wiki pages to get statistics for your wiki.
I'm getting more and more worried about these spam robots and would
welcome any help and ideas on how to handle this to make xwiki.com a
viable platform for hosted public wikis.

Hi,
Is it possible to remove properties from a user defined class (I can't see
it in the UI) ?
Undeterred I tried to use the info at
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/DatabaseSchema
I tried :
select * from xwikiclasses this returned no rows, which seems to imply no
user defined classes
select * from xwikiclassesprop where WXP_NAME like 'myprop%' did show the
property I added to the class
delete from xwikiclassesprop where WXP_NAME like 'myprop%' unfortunatly
didn't seem to remove the myprop from my class (the class editor showed it)
Incidently I edited the db before starting the server (to avoid possible
caching issues).
So, short of deleting and recreating my class... does anyone know how to
remove unwanted properties from a class ?
Many thanks in advance,
Dan
PS. Would others find this a useful feature ?
Hi,
I looked today over the XWikiMessageTool class, and I must say that I'm not
quite satisfied with it.
First, there was XWIKI-919, which I implemented. OK, I understand that files
stored on disk should be charset independent, so only ASCII characters are
supported by the ResourceBundle class (jvm) .But, when I can edit a wiki
document for storing bundles, I expect it to accept all the characters the
wiki supports (in my case, it was an UTF8 instance). I had some troubles
fixing this, since the JavaDoc says that bundles accepts only ASCII
characters, but it understands and parses unicode references ( \u0123 ).
Maybe I did something wrong, but doing content.replaceAll("\u0139",
"\\u0139") resulted in the string u0139 being displayed in the page. So I
had to trick it into believing that the component bytes of the encoding are
ASCII characters and manually restore the multibyte chars.
Second, I don't like the fact that XWIKI-921 was not already implemented.
Third, I don't like the cache refresh mechanism. It retrieves the
XWikiProperties->documentBundles property for each request, and It retrieves
the bundle documents for every request and checks if it must be refreshed or
not. Why isn't the com.xpn.xwiki.notify package used? It allows registering
callback handlers for specific document changes. How I see it:
- at startup, register a handler for XWiki.XWikiPreferences (so that we know
when the documentBundles property might change).
- remember the list of document bundles, don't ask it for each request
- also register handlers for the current bundle documents and load the
strings from these documents
- when XWikiPreferences is changed, if the documentBundle property is also
changed, remove the unused bundles and build the new ones
- when a undle document (or a translation for it) is changed, rebuild the
bundle for that document
This should speedup the code a bit, it makes use of a nice, but mostly
unknown feature, it doesn't log an error for each request when a specified
document is not found in the wiki, and it doesn't require so many variables
(previousDates, docsToRefresh).
Fourth, as I said above, if a document is specified in the documentBundles
property, but it does not exist in the wiki, for each $msg.get call an error
is logged. And there are a lot of calls for each request.
Now, in my opinion this is a nice way to get in the core of XWiki for a
newcomer, so does anybody want to write the changes I mentioned? Also, this
is a good occasion to document the event notification mechanism, in JavaDoc
and on www.xwiki.org

More a visual issue than a bug:
For users that are not administrators, on B4 I'm getting this when
viewing all new and old documents (previously this was only happening on
delete, or for non-registered users for certain spaces).

Hi everyone,
I'm tryin' to deploy a private xwiki, so that non-logged people can't
view/edit any page, but the login/register pages.
Moreover, I set a specific registering process : people need a password
to register on the
http://xwiki.pps.jussieu.fr/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/RegisterNewUser page)
I did the following to set up the wiki (maybe it would be good that I
write some page with more details somewhere on xwiki.org ? :)
i) I added /xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/RegisterNewUser,
/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/RegisterJS, /xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/Key to set up
this protected register process
ii) In the xwiki global rights : appropriate levels to "allow" for
XWikiAdminGroup and XWikiAllGroup, every level to "deny" for users
"XWikiGuest'
Specific Page Access Rights : "view" level to "allow" for
XWikiGuest on the 3 previous pages named in step i) and to the
/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/XWikiUsers class
iii) I edited on the webapp filesystem
$WEBAPPS_HOME//xwiki/skins/xwiki10b1/global.vm file, assuming that my
default skin is xwiki10b1 and replaced the line
#set($regurl = $xwiki.getURL("XWiki.Register", "register"))
with
#set($regurl = $xwiki.getURL("XWiki.RegisterNewUser", "view"))
When all of this is set up, the only problem is that accessing the new
register or login page (as an XWikiGuest so), these two pages don't show
the associated stylesheet.
Some previous posts talked about giving the same specific Page Access
Rights to xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/DefaultSkin, and turning Off the "Always
authenticate on viewing" and "Always authenticate on editing" directives.
Even doing this, my register and login page don't show the stylesheet.
Did I forget anything ?
Thanks.
